As usual Andy a great watch and informative . If it was easy we would probably pack it in and do something else . Dont forget every day or session the conditions are different to any other visit . Nice to see you changing the flys regularly - If it isnt working or giving results change whatever you are doing .
Really good to see you getting out and doing some more “guiding by proxy” Andy 😬 More great insight into your thinking and approach with plenty more for the memory bank. The comments relating to making casts count and varying the position of your heavier fly between the point and dropper have been noted. The way I’m rigging my setup for this year has been modified to give me the sort of flexibility to switch quickly between using an Oros indicator and straight euro as you showed here. Looking forward to getting out myself soon and putting it into practice. 👍
Well fished Andy and i liked the shift between rigs to cover the different waters better. I will try rhis technique out. I fish a small stream and sometimes use an 8'6 3 wt to euro or indicator fish as when i go onto a longer rod the overhead trees cause me too many problems.
Nice to see the small stream techniqies. I've been using the Oros indicator for the past year, works really well, the best bonus is that they sit inline and work fine with roll casting. Don't want to loose too many though £££ :(
I often tightline or indicator on small streams like that using drop shot. You hardly ever get stuck. Often i mostly use no6 shot & even a little Plasticine at times to smooth the weight out.Often even if you go up a tree the shot/Plasticine doesn't wrap round & normally comes straight out.Think drop shot sinks faster than a rig with tungsten beads also.Probably one or two no6 & tiny bit of Plasticine would be enough in the fastest deepest bits you fished.
It sounds like i might not have communicated very well what was happening there, all of the snag ups were on the dropper, not the point fly. All very unlucky, it really wasn't my day 😂
Not bad. You got to learn that you have to adapt to your situation and that just putting flies on and fish and not catch anything isn’t the way to go. Adapt you depth, leader length, style of fly. Thank you for the lesson even if you didn’t realize what you did.
Great to see you out again Andy - Interesting indicator, what size are they ? Was out myself yesterday on my local River, the Grayling are playing hard to get and couldn't get though the Spotties !
I'm pretty sure these are the small size Oros, but I'll have to check. I'd have used the smaller version if I had any left. These were a bit overkill. Hope you have a great Christmas and new year!
Noting some of the comments about indicators - What is it that ruffles peoples feathers ? Duo is now acceped as normal but whats the ratio that take the Dry ?? And in truth I think the bushy dry acts as a stimulator to the nymph below it . Just my thoughts. And of course any club/syndicate could make it against the rules if they wished .
It's our own logo, a grayling dorsal fin, with a trout dorsal fin imposed in to it. The trout dorsal fin is in the shape of our nearest Peak District landmark, a hill called Thorpe Cloud 👍
Of the commercially available indicators, i think the Oros is the best I've seen so far. For my full time indicator rig, I've changed again. There might be a video on that before the end of the season 👍
Thanks so much, Nick! If I do, I ignore it. I've said it plenty of times - if you're willing to go out in the middle of winter, in cold water, and in cold conditions, you catch them how you want! I used to find that the moaning purists tend nit to pick up a fly rod between October and May

Valuable content. Nothing worse than a mr perfect showing us how perfect they are.
Brilliant insight into small streams. Luv your videos. Have a lovely Christmas and new year.
Thanks so much, Graham. Merry Christmas!
Nice to see so many small ones. I always end up spooking the pool after the first or second 😂
If there's a small one in there, they'll be the one I catch David! Bodes well for the future of the river, for sure 👍👍

Thanks so much Phil! Glad there's something to be taken from you'd one, in between in the snags and the swearing 🙈😂

Santa put in a small order for Santa 🎅🏼😂👍🏼
One of his elves stopped by my office earlier and picked up a few bits.....
Great to see, even though you had a trying day Andy. You’ve had a nice few fish as well so a pretty decent short session really.
Keep them coming!
Scratched my way around the place there, didn't I?
Thanks so much for the card, I hope Kelly and you have a great Christmas and new year!
Our pleasure and a very merry Christmas to you, Ieva and Snips

Thanks so much, Tom. I really appreciate it!
You did well I thought… keep them coming Andy please
Thanks, David! A bit of a struggle, but better than sitting in the house, that's for sure!

Not cheap, are they?! Shouldn't lose too many, but at that cost, you don't want to lose many either 😂
Nice grayling Andy after your fly change lovely good to see you out though👍👍
Thanks so much! Amazing how often that fly change produces a fish, isn't it?
Absolutely Andy👍👍
pink dub grub is my go to fly!
I noticed, bud! In the post today, sold be with you very soon!
Well done Andy. I have tried a few different indicators but not those. Which size were you using on that session please ?
You did not put a link for the screw floaty thing. Could you tell me where you got that? Looks very handy.
Hi Tom, these are the Oros indicators, excellent they are too 👍
Again, cracking video Andy, always honest angling, what's the make of your backpack btw ?
Thanks so much John! The backpack is years old, it's one of the old Scierra waterproof packs. I don't think they even make them any more 👍
You know your stuff.
Sometimes Scott! Not very often on this particular day 🙈😂

Lovely vid. I went out for grayling today to river Churnet and caught nothing in 3 hours 😂 cold and miserable
Thanks so much! What was the clarity like on the churnet?
@@IBandAndyFishing pretty clear, better than expected. Bit higher than expected as well

@@IBandAndyFishing Thanks Andy you and IB too.
Interesting indicators Andy, were did you buy them from?
These are from the good folk at Mallon and Green, Nigel. They're excellent indicators!

I have been wondering... What's the motif on the hat represent?
It's our own logo, a grayling dorsal fin, with a trout dorsal fin imposed in to it. The trout dorsal fin is in the shape of our nearest Peak District landmark, a hill called Thorpe Cloud 👍
Andy do you prefer the Oros indicator to say your foam or a Dorsey, and what bead size would a small and medium hold.
Of the commercially available indicators, i think the Oros is the best I've seen so far. For my full time indicator rig, I've changed again. There might be a video on that before the end of the season 👍
Liked the video thanks. Do you get grief off the purists for using indicators - i.e. float fishing.

Indicator 😂 you mean float
Or bobber, or bung, or whatever word you want to use 👍
