    As an Indian, our law enforcement is so incompetent, but I'm grateful to Kit for doing what he does. Folks watching please realize our population is so massive (1.4 billion people) that even 3% of folks doing this, or being creeps represents a figure as big 42 Million -- That's larger than Canada's entire population for reference. We want to see these scumbags gone just as much as you do. Locals are targeted as much as foreigners. Huge respect to Kit, and Kraken.

One method that companies successfully have used in the past is self-regulation. This is like self-regulation foreplay. Kraken wants to appear on the side of victims, not as the ambivalent facilitators of illegal activity.

    Being someone who works at a bank and has taken many calls where I have heard the scammers talking to the customer in the background. I for one cannot thank you enough for wating their time and getting them shut down, it makes this world a safer place and I hope one day to get less and less calls where I hear a scammer screaming in the background.       maybe its a dumb question but, what are you to do? are you instructed to alert the customer that they’re being scammed? do you freeze the account? or are you told to not do anything and give the support asked?

      It sucks when someone calls in and you have to talk them down from paying a scammer. One call with an elderly man reached 3 hours because he was absolutely convinced that he owed some fake law firm in NYC $8000.
      Eventually convinced him to at least wait until he spoke with his accountant before sending any money. Hope he (and his poor accountant) are doing okay now.

    I've been listening to you take on scammers for years and this may be one of the most impressive scammer groups I've heard. Their speaking skills are better than average and they used a lot of clever techniques. I feel like they could trick people better than the typical scammer group, especially those who don't understand computers well. Very cool to see Kraken collaborating with you.

    Some asshole just tried to tell my wife she was going to jail if she didnt give $1500 to a kiosk for missing a Grand Jury summons. Almost had me getting in the car to go with her, then I remembered my Kitboga training and told her to hang up on that c÷nt. You saved our fam $1500 today Kit. Real life super hero!

    Late to this, but catching up on stuff...and man, this one was wild. I've listened to I-don't-know-how-many hours of calls on Kit's stream, and the videos, and these guys were SO slick by comparison. High energy, big confidence. The first guy was really nailing the Actual Tech Support delivery at first, too. It was fascinating and gross at the same time.

      I used btc so much for gambling in like price were 400-800$. Wallets back then are just wallet, if you phone died or stolen you lose everything. Nowaday wallet providers are also marketplace and bank, which is way more safer for my money but yeah,we lost anominity. Still better than Government.

      @@bobbym6130 Oh man... i have like 20k in 2017-8 , i thought about buying cards and mining but with fire hazard and noise reasons, i did not. Then, i thought maybe i just hold. My mom is not interests and i was an shortsighted idiot that dont believe in saving money . So, i used the money on hooker and coke mostly. Then it went up to lik 8k. I regret it but whatever, small balls.
      Then in 2019, i read about this virus in reddit and media are blaming China heavily for no reason and China just banned Crypto Mining. I live beside China. So, i thought hey, it might be good time for bitcoin. It was like 4-7k back then.
      I bought some and i sold it in first month of profit. 🙂
      Yeah fuck me. Fuck me hard.

      Crypto was never supposed to be anonymous. It was always planned as being pseudonymous. The whole idea of a blockchain like bitcoin has wouldn't even make sense if it would be anonymous.

    I like that you talk about security with centralised exchanges and why they exist. You see so many people on Reddit complaining about having their accounts locked and then when you dig into most of them it’s because they’re sending money to or from a shady wallet, buying things online etc. Often it seems like unnecessary FUD for exchanges but people don’t understand these security measures need to exist to keep customers using the service.

    I work in Scotiabank for a couple of months in customer service, last year, I had been following you, and the things you do are super helpful, you give us insight into how the scammers work, I would pass this info to my customers whenever I could because I would regularly talk to elderly customers, so I just wanted to thank you for your work

    In New Zealand you can't just say someone is your son and get them to tell you anything. It makes things impossible when you have relatives with dementia and intellectual handicap though. You must get proven power of attorney or you cannot help your family. Everyone is terrified of The Privacy Act here.

      Working myself in this field from a EU country. Whenever we see Western Union we instantly see it as an high risk. Their validation and security is beyond horrible.

      Most scammers don't even use Western Union anymore, it takes to much time and is traceable. Plus WU takes a cut of every transfer. They pretty much all use Bitcoin now.

She withdrew and became suspicious of her family until after she was scammed. Unless you completely cut people off from using technology then you don't completely remove the possibility of them being scammed, and that can be cruel.

You communicate with your elder relatives and build a rapport based on respect and trust with them so they know to contact you or someone else in the family if someone tries to do business or take payments from them over the phone. And if they are not in their right mind then you make arrangements for power of attorney. It's that simple.

    The bank would NEVER allow a 3rd party onto your bank account. And why can't you call the bank yourself? Thats what I'd tell em. "You don't hafta call,I got my bank in my phone, gimme a second to call" 😂

    This happened to my father in law, almost got him for all of his money tens of thousands of dollars, at the last minute my niece told my sister in law who was leaving his home that something was fishy. My sister in law is a software engineer. She turn off the computer and called the bank to freeze the accounts, credit cards,. The next thing was to move the money to new bank accounts, new credit cards, new passwords for the new accounts and my father in law is not allowed to talk anybody if it involves personal/financial information. These people prey on the elderly.
