A CSL DD racer here - great content on this channel, you've really set yourself apart!
Just on the CSL DD and more specifically the QR lite - I've had my own QR lite shatter at the start of a league race (it took about 2 years to happen, but it eventually did). It bent the pins on my wheel as I was mid corner catching a slide, and it took me two or three attempts to bend back the pins correctly. Fanatec support in the meantime wanted to charge me for the repair till I applied some pressure to have them accept it's not a solid piece of kit- in the end though I didn't need them after the multiple pin bending attempts fixed it. Because of that I would recommend picking up a metal QR cheap (as the QR2 is now a thing, people are moving on) or get a QR2 shaft + QR2 wheel side, if you have the money.
Secondly on the bonnet (hood) cam thing- I'm a 6+ year sim racer and have pretty much always used bonnet cam. I can race cockpit, but I am always faster in bonnet, opposite to you strangely. I wouldn't close off going back and forth, as when you're getting started in sim racing, you will find seconds in a lap easily just out of the blue. Once you reach a plateau or ceiling though, it would make sense to then experiment with changes, like going back to bonnet for a good few hours.

Absolutely love this channel, it's so wholesome. The CSL DD is a great wheel, when you eventually get a boost kit, the improvement should be pretty noticeable.
I don't think I've seen a channel like this on youtube so far where it embodies community atmosphere.
Don't know how you gonna manage to do this once it grows bigger but it's a fresh take, I respect it.

I remember when I started in 2020, people told me "you have to do this, do this, yada yada" and I was like "no, I do it my way, I'm not like these elitist nerds, I just wanna race"... yeah well, turned out the guys with years of experience did things for a reason, they just wanted to help, they didn't say this to annoy me. And so it didn't take long until I adjusted my FOV and turned off the immersive steering wheel in front of the dash. I can imagine though as a streamer it must feel annoying when people say "do this, do that" all the time, but sadly they are right most of the time, we all go through it haha

I noticed you using the hood cam lol. Use the camera you like. It's your money, your game, your life, but yes the cockpit/dash cam is the faster cam lol. Keep grinding dude. You're knocking it out!

Great content man! It’s been great watching your channel grow! I’m a MOZA guy myself! Looked into Fanatec, but in Canada you can only get it shipped. I had a local sim shop that had MOZA in stock. Went from a G923 to a R9. Best decision ever! Sim racing is so much fun and the community is amazing!

I ordered my Fanatec before the black Friday push. Took 2 weeks to get to me up in Alaska. I think a big big big chunk of people having to wait is the weather, time of year. To this day I'm 100% happy and love the products. Really enjoying the channel. Wish I was going to be around he 28th for the event. Work 2 weeks on 2 weeks off on a oil platform in Alaska. maybe hit the next one. Keep on getting after it bud
The big big big chunk of people waiting are doing so because of Fanatec's mismanagement and incompetence. They sold products that they hadn't even manufactured yet and advertised them as being "In Stock".
I raced with Cooper in one of your streams. They lack racing etiquette and defend like their life depends on it, which causes a train of cars behind. Inevitably, the cars following may lose patience or make a mistake that takes Cooper out. I imagine that happens a lot with Cooper, so they probably think they get unfairly crashed in to very often. Then it escalates with retaliation punts etc... I had a blast in your server, but I would suggest that you implement a banning policy or it could turn in to Wrekckfest.
Revenge punts is, and should be, instaban in most communities. Probably a couple weeks "cooldown" off the racing servers for first offenders. Watching the video what worries me the most is that Cooper says he did nothing wrong? Even if Williams was trying to take him out in that last chicane (which he clearly wasn't, he was avoiding hitting Cooper that broke too early) it is always wrong to take revenge, no matter what.

Haha, dash cam vs bonnet cam :) I doubt that any of the views will in itself be faster or slower (bonnet better in rain because it will give better visibility following cars closely). It is all about personal preference. Personally, I usually don't watch bonnet cam videos or streams because I feel it takes away from the immersion and the feeling of it being as real as possible. If you see a bonnet cam, you instantly get the "this is a game" feeling, cockpit or dash cams just makes it look more real. I am one of those that usually unsubscribe from channels that use only bonnet cams just because its not the content I like to watch. That said, content is best in my opinion when the creator is doing what they enjoy the most so if you enjoy the bonnet cam just use it. If you loose a few subs for it, you will gain more due to better content.

I will say, I had no isses with the QR1 lite when using the 5nm but pretty much as soon as I upgraded to 8nm the issues with it were quick to appear. The clicking and clacking is pretty unbearable as it's not just a noise but a feeling in the wheel. The electrical tape on the shaft has fixed this for now though (I bought my CSL DD 5nm around the same time you did, and the boost kit arrived just last week). I've heard the tape is only effective in solving the issue for a short while but if it does reappear I'll take the hit and upgrade the QR as other than that I am very pleased with the wheel. In my opinion though it's a joke that fanatec are still allowing QR1 lites to be paired with the boost kit CSL DD, or at least not actively discouraging it (as far as I'm aware)

You're welcome dude, loving the content man. Echoing a lot of other comments but your content is certainly a breath of fresh air in the Sim Racing community - really top quality stuff. Do you plan on upgrading to the boost kit at some point? If so it would be interesting to see what your experience is using it alongside the QR1 lite. Some people have reported no issues with the duo, so it seems that there's quite a problematic tolerance with this QR - luck of the draw...

It's a SIMULATION, why would you ever consider driving from any view other than the realistic cockpit view? I'm not a fan of iracing but the one thing they got right was locking the player to cockpit view.

When the sim racing purists find out some of the best sim racers in GT7 are using chase cam. I can hear their heads explode from here. This is definitely a “to each their own” thing. You got faster with cockpit view, I’m faster with hood/bonnet view. I’ve been sim racing for close to 20 years and don’t give any Fs what the totalitarianism thinks about how I play my game. The games that force cockpit view are fine, but if I have the choice I play the way that feels most comfortable for me. No offense to Toxic, but there’s a ton of gatekeeping and hand wringing in the sim community and it’s pretty typically arbitrary nerd hall monitor BS at the end of the day.
Do you, and tell the haters to drive into the gravel. If their lives are so mediocre that they feel the need to monitor and enforce another sim racer’s experience, they can kindly take this hug and then F right off.
that's nothing to do with gatekeeping, ACC isn't GT7, Toxic and many others are just trying to help him be more comfortable. As you've seen in the video, he was right, Dash cam is the way to go in simulators... You sound very angry, nobody is a hater here, we all started at one point and give him advice that helps 99% of the people. If you're the 1% that races in chase cam, that's fine, but not really relevant to the average racer.
@@drchtct I don’t sound like anything, which is part of the problem. You’re misreading anger for what is my strong stance against - coupled with my New Englander potty mount - the very real issue of gatekeeping and elitism in the sim racing community. It’s a very really, and very prevalent issue.
I’m not a GT7 player myself, and I wasn’t comparing ACC to GT7 so much as using it as a recent example of where you can witness this attitude at work. Sim racers like Super GT being panned on their comments section for choosing to race from the hood cam. It might be that Toxic was being helpful, as I stated I did not mean to offend or point fingers at him specifically, but there’s a large contingent of sim racers that use vitriol, condescension, and defamation to put down other enthusiasts because they do not adhere to their idea of the “standard.” They took one title’s decision to restrict multiple views, in order to uphold and enforce a baseline that all racers needed to adhere to as “this is the way.”
Again, not angry, just a dark and flippant sense of humor. I’ve been part of the community for a very long time. While some of these guys may be being helpful, this is more of a PSA to the numerous other newcomers who are likely following this channel, being able to relate to the content with another new hobbyist, who can be pressured and even overwhelmed by what is a seemingly endless amount of “do as I say” in the community. So while you may know these individuals personally, it does not absolve the countless other bad faith users who do exactly this sort of thing out of ego and a sense of superiority. That’s what I’m responding to.

Hard to recommend Fanatec with their terrible customer support and treating their customers like trash.
