    Diane, I love listening to your videos as much as watching them!! Whether its the animals, the determined swish of water cleaning your brush, you talking about being the new PM !! or things in general. I Love that you show us How you mix colors, don't clean your brush and go in the pans again !! You are teaching me to let go and I thank you for that !! You make it all look so easy. This is a lovely wreath, thanks for testing out this palette for/with us!!

    Diane, it’s lovely to actually see you paint. Your viewing angles truly help when I replay to paint along to because I can literally see how your hand moves when making marks. Thanks for a very helpful video. 😊

      Yes, the angles that you place each leaf or berry makes the eye see how they flow into a circle. Thanks for the demo.

    I have this set and I LOVE it! I just didn’t like the purple/violet color so I added a pan of W&N professional Dioxazine purple. This and the 48 pan of Paul Rubens in the pink tin are some of my favorite “budget” paints. I guess they don’t have the 48 pan on Amazon anymore but the 24 is just as amazing if not better because you learn to mix a little better. I love Paul Rubens paints, I think they’re excellent for learning and beyond.

    • @windywednesday4166
      @windywednesday4166 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @DianeAntoneStudio I believe MeiLiang is Paul Rubins off-label 'student grade'. Then they seem to have an amateur grade and different generations of professional grade? I find the brand a little confusing... I jumped from MeiLiang to Daniel Smith, but it is still one of my 'play' sets.

      It takes a long time to learn how to mix paint intuitively Denise. Don’t beat yourself up if you have to follow some guidelines to get there for awhile. But I do recommend trying to break away from the conventional. For example one of my most useful set of greens comes from mixing purple with yellow or black with lemon yellow. Get some great slutty darks that way!

      Yes possibly, but I’m just used to having the intensity adjusted by the manufacturer so that one doesn’t get caught out by sudden over or under egging so to speak.

    Diane, I wonder what you think. Generally, are the solid paints brighter than using watercolors from a tube?

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, to tell you the truth I don’t think I’ve ever noticed much difference. As long as you wet the pans before you start they should release quite a bit of colour. I do think that in general if you are painting large pictures though you need to use tube colours because you need access more quickly to paint than you can get with the pans. But for small things pans are fine. I like the large pans of Kuretake sets and their colours are very very strong. Hope this helps!

  • @penneynoss9552
    @penneynoss9552 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Diane, thank you for the great review on the paints. I have used Paul Rubens paper and for the price I thought it was good. I am a beginner so my opinion may not be worth much.

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On the contrary Penney, your opinion is very valuable. As a beginner you are very sensitive to good and bad paper. Once you are more experienced you will be more able to disregard the quality of the paper and paint no matter what. So it’s always very helpful to hear from beginners what they think of any product. So thank you for contributing, and I hope you’re enjoying your painting journey!

    I love your paintings and your style. I have to ask what brush(es) do you use to create such fine lines. I don’t seem to have anything like that. Thank you. 😊

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m using a Maestro brush from Japan which I order direct from the company. You can too. If you want more information you can contact Drawell from their website. Let me know if you can’t find the reference in the description below. I think that the brushes are very good value for money - they have two ranges, one red and one black. The red one is a great workhorse brush, and the black one is extremely good for fine work.

      Hi Mary, I get the brushes made by this manufacturer, "Drawell" brushes in Japan. They are very inexpensive, and if you order several the postage isn't too bad, they still work out at a good price. The ones I use are Golden Nylon Series 11-2, and I use mostly sizes 7or 9 and 10 and 13. I also use the Maestro ones, and I have sizes 3, 5 and 7 for more detailed work as they have a better point. Here's the website. The owner is a very friendly and polite Japanese gentleman. If you email him he will send you a pricelist in dollars. www.drawell.co.jp/english/product.html

    Thank you for showing us these. I was wondering about them. I really like the tin...and I have their shiny colors which are really nice to use, especially on top of normal colors. But I am like you, I prefer large pans. Maybe they have these paints in tubes as well.

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The manufacturers told me that they are out of stock of the Professional grade tubes. You can find their tubes of professional Neon and the Student grade watercolors on Amazon, but not the tubes of Professional. I did originally ask them to send me the tubes but they said they didn't have any and couldn't say when, so I took the tin instead. I'll make them work for me somehow!
