I played and somewhat enjoyed this game, but I always got the impression that the devs are just a small studio that never expanded their workforce enough to make a true AAA game. If you try out the God Eater series, it's pretty much on-pattern -- their games struggle to fill the category of a full-price console title. Every moment that you express frustration with this game I can't help but think how regrettable it is that this studio seems doomed to create game concepts that are too ambitious for the resources made available to them. Also thanks for putting your ads after you've finished making your points, really appreciate that.

I get that the cathedral is kind of badly designed but you have a map that tracks like 15 minutes worth of movement so it's really easy if you aren't specifically trying to find every secret in the level.
I dislike the cathedral. Not cuz the level design even tho it is kinda..... copy paste, copy paste. But those invasions..... they're Brutal man... i play Without Ai characters in soloplay and the game is actualy pretty damn hard that way
@@cherrydragon3120 Nah, those invasions are so brutal the AI gets shit on too, so it's there to basically act as a decoy while you are fighting 1v3 instead of 1v6.

Yep, some secret weapon program stuff to fight the aragami, tho they probably not called aragami in that universe since "its its own", which it isnt really... just sort of a parallel universe i feel. ^^
No believe me frigid outskirts at least have surprise antlers in the butt but you have some sense of direction there. Cathedral is literal purgatory of same assets and hard to find drops to platforms that will let you progress.
Man I had to do NG+4 to get all endings for the platinum. And I still got lost in the cathedral literally every time. I have these levels etched into my brain now.
On ng+ to get the bad end (and neutral end the next playthough, then redo the true+secret ending after) And yup, currently on cathedral and I do not miss the second half of it.
Playing this game alone: Hard Mode. Playing this game with an NPC: Normal Mode. Playing this game with a friend: Easy Mode. Playing this game with a friend AND an NPC: Extremely Easy Mode.
That boss spams magic like it ate ichor along with having no CD as a spice, like holy shit, out of all the four relics she was the only one to make me get a companion.
Overall, I really enjoyed Code Vein, but there were some real ARGH moments: Cathedral is confusing, that sand boulder, and some of the boss animations were really annoying. Rough Diamond for me.
I liked the cathedral, it gave me a mountains of madness vibe. Not the book, just the architecture, I really liked how I could look out from a bridge and it's just this sprawling, boney looking structure, almost looked like it was alive once if that makes sense, like if a building could die anyways, it was still a pain to navigate but i never really got super annoyed i'd say cathedral and the pit where the executioner is are my two favourite areas, just had fun running around and exploring
For me, I'd wished they'd retract that god eater and code vein isn't in the exact same universe (even though the moon, and deus pita is shown in code vein) Like seriously it will probably make a great game together.
I actually really enjoyed this game. The modular class system is very unique and made the game for me. I do understand that the Cathedral got old real fast, but some zones were kind of fun. I played through with a friend and by myself. It’s no Dark Souls, but it isn’t a “bad” game.
I actually enjoyed this game, the combat was pretty fun and well being weeb trash the character design was perfect for me. Plus the odd glitches when playing co-op is always a good chuckle. (But I agree that one area was so damn stupid.)
I almost didn’t buy the game because of the cathedral. But then I did and enjoyed it like you did. The cathedral wasn’t great, but I didn’t find it too confusing as long as I kept my bearings. Everyone’s making it seem a lot worse than it was.
@@BaconPinata Right? I am let down by the dlcs. But I very much enjoyed the combat, arts and weapons. Running around bopping mobs with a hammer felt so good. Haha.
I like the game. Tho invasions are a BITCH without the AI side charactera lol..... i shouldn't have given myself that challenge lol... the game got harder then bloodborne XD
For me I couldn't stand how awful the level design was. It's like some intern mindlessly assembled a series of hallways and then had an AI apply a texture pack to it. Everything that made Dark Souls levels and environments so amazing is completely lacking in this game. For this game it seems like their only concern was the combat and everything else was just something to lead you to the next bit of combat.
14:00 just saying, it isnt to save you time as a shortcut, its to save you hp grabbing that vestige, you can grab it right away for some damage or wait like 10 extra seconds till you can drop the ladder and grab it safely
For a World with a lot of DS Formula this one is my favorite, maybe in the Sequel (Because that Character Creation Sell Well enough) they make more is own thing and improve the Combat Concept because is actually really interesting.
I literally put in like three hours of character customization alone. Played through the entire game and had so much fun with it. I have about 300 in game hours now. I still play, just trying to get all four endings and max out all weapons and veils.
6:55 I feel like, half way through this video, both the player characters and npcs had developed a special bond through this, experience. And they finally felt equal, and just wanted to go home after a hard day's work.
DarkBum you may not like it, and I haven’t played it: but I think the vast amount of positive reviews VS negatives would suggest: no, the game is not shit, and that positives outweigh negatives for most people. Of course you can dislike it, but doesn’t mean it’s bad is all I’m saying.
It only took me 2 hours to clear the Cathedral level plus another hour or so on the memory level. All items/vestiges found and boss defeated. It was confusing for sure but not terribly difficult imo.

I actually love the concept of anime souls and the design of these bosses. The thing that threw me was that it was in the same universe as god eater.

The ladder was set there so that you wouldn't have to take damage from the firey ground that you could step on and Take damage from when you would return from that place. Makes it easier since you won't be taking Even more chip damage then.

I picked this up on the Steam sale. It got a lot better when I found the option to not bring a companion.
I mean there is an option to turn off companion talking while not in cutscenes XD.
Not bringing the companion at all is pretty nice, harder then the souls game in this state, but still fair, well, Cononeer and Blad Bearer are overtuned without, but aside from that :D
His reaction to the Cathedral is literally every player in the game.. I lost my goddamn mind
Weirdly enough, I didn't have nearly as much trouble with that area as most people, no idea why
I didn't have anywhere near as bad a time as pretty much everyone else seems to have had. Sure, it was a bad area, and I got lost a lot, but it didn't feel nearly as bad as pretty much everyone I've seen talk about it makes it out to be.
Not sure how you can get lost in this place
As the other 3 commenters said, I didn’t have problems at all in this area, I just went slowly and steady, never fell down, and I always fought the Warframe Wisp looking things indoors.
Obligatory "me too". I did overlook a turn a few times but that was about it.

Also thanks for putting your ads after you've finished making your points, really appreciate that.
they are a brilliant studio, talented, creative, and ambitious, but they are about half of the size they need to be.
@@comyuse9103 A brilliant studio? All i can see is a game on the level of an RPG Maker a few kids have scrambled together in a month. Throw some anime boobs in there and its a selling argument. 50$ on steam right now btw. Or do we wanna talk about the DLC, which was 1 path to 2 copy pasted bosses? 10$ btw. This company is a scam.

I get that the cathedral is kind of badly designed but you have a map that tracks like 15 minutes worth of movement so it's really easy if you aren't specifically trying to find every secret in the level.
Bruh, I couldn't help, but to pick up every single item on the level, because navigating that thing is a bitch.
Ez-est level, use a marking whenever you sure have visit the area at the intersection

Man I had to do NG+4 to get all endings for the platinum. And I still got lost in the cathedral literally every time. I have these levels etched into my brain now.
On ng+ to get the bad end (and neutral end the next playthough, then redo the true+secret ending after)
And yup, currently on cathedral and I do not miss the second half of it.
the boss in the cathedral level is considerably harder with just one person and the CPU companion

Not the book, just the architecture, I really liked how I could look out from a bridge and it's just this sprawling, boney looking structure, almost looked like it was alive once if that makes sense, like if a building could die
anyways, it was still a pain to navigate but i never really got super annoyed
i'd say cathedral and the pit where the executioner is are my two favourite areas, just had fun running around and exploring
I haven't heard that intro music since "How to make FnaF not scary"

i love that you also found the cathedral just terrible me and my roommate have been playing through this game and we did that place 2 times lol
I actually loved Code Vein. Still hoping for a sequel.
For me, I'd wished they'd retract that god eater and code vein isn't in the exact same universe (even though the moon, and deus pita is shown in code vein)
Like seriously it will probably make a great game together.
Cant have an anime mistake without the GodHand soundtrack!
I actually really enjoyed this game. The modular class system is very unique and made the game for me. I do understand that the Cathedral got old real fast, but some zones were kind of fun. I played through with a friend and by myself. It’s no Dark Souls, but it isn’t a “bad” game.

Haha.
Bruh, I decided to make a second run and even though I spent like 5 hours in that area the first time, I STILL got lost.
The irony in all of this: This was the best sales pitch for the VPN.

Also trying to reach max level which is 300.
