This video here shows an example of trimming a Podocarpus hedge that was installed at # 3 Gal about a year and a half prior to this video of simply performing a light pruning trim from the tops and sides.

Thank you for this info ! My new podocarpus hedge stays so sparse near bottom it encourages weeds to grow, then lawn crew ends up damaging trunks with the weed cutter. Hopefully I can fix this now.

When you cut the top portion, will it still grow taller? Or will it stop growing taller since you cut the top portion?

Why did you trim the top? I have podocarpus and i want to have them grown until reach the top of the fence. How can I do that?

My hedge is browning? Should I trim the entire branch that’s brown? It’s still soft so I’m thinking is not yet dead.
