I use my Hobonichi in my Chic Sparrow and have been doing it for over a year now. I love it! Something I do, is just use the two center strings to hold the Hobo, then the front string holds a dashboard, and the back string holds an additional insert. I love it and haven't had any problems ... except a chunky TN - which I love BTW! :)
That's just something I have been doing for a while now and love! Thought I'd share ...

Great video! I've also noticed that the Mr. Darcy leathers are different now--I have an old one in burgundy which was smooth and shiny; it reminded me of fine Italian leather. Btw, if you want get use of the 2 extra bands, just position the Hobo between the 1st and 2nd string or 3rd and 4th string; these pairs have a small gap that is just enough for the spine of a bound notebook (the 2nd and 3rd strings are almost on top of each other and don't work as well). I have a Chic Sparrow A6 Outlander in Wine with a DIY folder with another pen loop on the 1st string, a thin booklet on the 2nd and the Hobo on the last two strings--it works perfectly! HTH!

Oh you have me so excited about this. 👍 I've tried using the elastics with my A6 but I worry that it stresses the binding too much. But this is a fantastic idea. Thank you for sharing. Back to the folder idea for a second - like you, I would never want to trim or cut my Hobo cover, so do you think if we instead slit the outer edges of the folder that it would give us enough room to compensate for the width of the hobo? I can't wait to try this. Thank you thank you thank you. 😄😄😄

That is an impressive idea! Slits may help! I didn't realize until after I posted this video that the lady used an Avec, and it fit perfect with the Midori folder insert. You'll have to let use know if it works out :)

I am so glad I found this video. I am thinking about buying an A5 Tomoe River notebook, and have been trying to figure out a cover to use. I've seen some folio covers where you tuck the covers in but was concerned about the ridge. I am going to look into this if I do buy the notebook. Do the elastic bands cause a lump and interfere with your writing? Thank you for the video. :-)

Susan Weller If you put the front cover on the first string and the back on the fourth, you're good! Have you seen my video on the Raymay Covers? They come in A5, plus they have a zipper 🙂

Love this! As soon as you mentioned the hobo cover being too childish / I thought - EXACTLY. I’m thinking of getting deluxe. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Your Chic Sparrow looks awesome! How did you get one with those beautiful markings?

Completely by accident! You can order what they call distressed TNs to get this look :)

that leather shouldn't do all those wrinkles on the spine, that's a sign the leather is very dry. those wrinkles could literally peel of if they get a scratch over the area because they're like bubbles filled with air. a mr darcy shouldn' t look like that at all

I haves Darcy doing this too. I’ve oiled it with mink oil. It didn’t help. What do you advise?

@@cathyadams8186 I would send it back if you just got it recently. For the prices they charge, they should stand behind their product.
