In 2015, I remember when folks were giving Clemson hell when they barely beat a 3-9 SC team 37-32. But Clemson still played well in the playoffs. U have your ups and downs. Just a matter of when. Nevertheless, they won against a rival that's tired of losing to them.
USC played a hell of a game with a bunch of freshmen defense. Bentley passing over 500 yards much respect way to fight
I'm a Clemson fan but S. Carolina played a heck of a game and exposed some gaps in the Tiger defense that they were able to plug up before playing Alabama

Clemson scored nearly 60, definitely not the best defensive performance from SCAR. Jake Bentley did play pretty well, though. Too bad the rest of his team, besides Deebo, sucked ass that year lol

Clemson fan here and i thought he played lights out. Had more passing yards than any other usc qb and did it in the first half. In all honesty, people dont give credit to carolina whom should be 8-3 today.

Great way to end the regular season undefeated. Hats off to Bentley. He looked and played like a different quarterback. Lawrence is going to demolish the ACC next year.
Clemson needs to recruit some better safeties. It's always the weak spot, year after year. 4:29 that pass is a thing of beauty though. Lawrence is legit as it gets.

Unsatisfying in one way for Clemson. Too many uncovered receivers (SC has several good options to throw to, but there was always someone wide open). It was a disorganized performance on defense. BUT, this was Trevor Lawrence's most complete game, and Etienne was a force. Let's hope Clemson can keep Pitt without a TD the way Miami did.
John McHugh the secondary especially the safeties need to get better but overall clemson had a very good game offensively
@@ShaneVidal45 Yes, I agree, but time is getting short on corrections. I think Clemson needs to vastly simplify defensive play calling. You've got people running in and out, not set...no wonder there are blown coverages. Brent Venables is awesome, but somebody needs to remind him that the other offense calls the plays. I'm thinking about a hopeful rematch with Alabama...Clemson can live a few pass interference penalties but not not getting gashed with long TDs. The offense seemed to be the weak link in a few games this year, but now it looks like a well-oiled machine.

@@phillyfan3942 OK, well, I grew up in the Philly suburbs, two miles from the PA border in Wilmington. Be that as it may, Clemson is the only team that can realistically beat Alabama. The idea of Clemson not being in the "top 10" strains your credibility. They have deal with Tua better than they did with Bentley, and they have to run the ball some (which they couldn't do last year). However, should it materialize, that should be a game.

Laser Games refs were trash allllll night. How tf do you call delay of game on the defense??? SEC refs tried their hardest to keep SC in it. Almost worked.
@@squirtlesquadblastoise7166 I've seen a delay on the defense before but it's when they interfere with the ball getting back to the refs so they can set it. It was a strange call and I can only figure that it was a "he made it look like he might have been hurt" delay. Not really sure.
The refs took at least 7 from us and made a few of their drives easier. They still couldn't stop the beatdown.

SC knew they couldn't run the ball so they focused on short passes. With Clemson's Mike LB out (Tre Lamar) Muschamp had a pretty good idea that they could focus on beating Judah and J.D. Davis.
Mark Fields (CB) also missed the game. CU may not like to admit it but since Ryan Carter and Marcus Edmond left they are still weak in the secondary. Plus Dorian O'Daniel left last year so it's obvious that they need to work on LB's and the secondary.
So kudos for Muschamp to design an offensive scheme that worked pretty well.

I give Clemson all the credit in the world for all they have accomplished in the last few years. It is truly amazing. Man it really hurts to say that, but the truth is the truth. At least they are a team from our state, and our rival. So it's nice to be able to be facing the best team in the country year in and year out as of late. They have been equal to if not better than Alabama, which says a lot about them. Yeah sure they might not play as tough a schedule as Alabama, but they still have had to beat them 2 out of the last 3 years to win the title and completely dominated them this past year. Now on a side note though, just to make myself feel good I will share somewhat of a stat, that really isn't a stat just an observation I made over that last 10 years of the rivalry, and yes I know they past really doesn't matter because it's all about what have you done lately, but if you look at the games where both Clemson and South Carolina had good seasons and were both ranked when they played, South Carolina has had the edge and beat them by at least 2 scores in each of those contests the 4 or 5 years in a row that they won, and the last 4 or 5 they have had bad seasons and weren't ranked, whereas Clemson was ranked and had good seasons and Carolina came close to getting them when they went 3 and 9, and gave them a hell of a better game than almost anyone this past year including Alabama, and if not for a few 4th and goal stops by Clemsons defense, they might have had a chance to win. I will also admit that the three years in the middle of the 5 game win streak for Clemson, whether Carolina would have had a decent season or been ranked in any of those games, it wouldn't likely have made a difference as Carolina got straight up stomped each time. Again though I am not taking anything away from the greatness they have shown the past few years and I hope it continues and hopefully pushes Carolina to be better or at least compete with them none the less. Congratulation on all that yall have accomplished, sincerely a South Carolina Gamecock.

Gamecocks fans, this was pretty frustrating. As good as Jake Bentley and Deebo Samuel played, we just couldn't make it happen this year. I would like to think that if the defense hadn't had so many injuries, and maybe if Coach Muschamp had taken the points instead of going for it on 4th and Goal (twice!!), maybe things would have been different. It's time to pipe down. Let Clem's Son enjoy this win. It would have been sweet to end the Tigers' playoffs dreams in front of their home fans and break that streak, but it wasn't meant to be. At least our guys showed up this year, and played a tough game, never giving up. Let's hope Coach Muschamp can get a few more big prospects and serve up some revenge next season. Go Gamecocks!!

Man Venables fucked up tonight. At least he took responsibility for it after the game. He needs to get calls in faster and find some way to communicate what he wants the LB and DB to do in coverage based on what they're seeing fro m the receivers route structures. Man this was hard to watch knowing how good we could be. Not sure with Mickey Conn hire as safety coach right now. IMO they're either being made to do too much or are not being coached well enough on the correct calls and adjustments to those calls. And that is to even say the calls are competent at any given time. I think venables worries too much about neutralizing the QB with pressure instead of sound coverage. Which is hard to watch sometimes as he continues to send 5 and 6 man blitzes that don't get home and the back end gets burnt. He really needs to dial back the obvious blitzes and hide what he does send a lot better.

the defensive line isn't the one defending passes genius, that's the secondary's job. That D line shut down Carolina's run game completely until the 2nd half and that's thanks to the secondary too
