But if you want to be pedantic, "academic" refers to higher education, not K-12. No matter how much you struggled to color in the lines and put the square shapes in the round holes, that didn't count as higher education.

You don't have to agree with someone's beliefs but you can still generally respect them as people. I'm not sure on the "money doesn't buy happiness". I rejoined the workforce after 5yrs stay at home mom on SS survivors benefit. After 1 paycheck my car is nearly paid off and it feels like a weight is lifted. Maybe it's just being constrained for so long and suddenly having more freedom vs happiness

I'm not sure God has a sense of humor (not to be confused with joy). One has to be ignorant of something for it to make them laugh. It's not like something can surprise Him by its absurdity or impress Him through its cleverness.
I dunno, He pulled some practical jokes after the Ressurection. Having a sense of humor can be surprising other people too.

So the discussion on Australia here is fuelled by misinformation. And Matt does acknowledge that he is not in touch with the situation nor live there, so he doesn't really have a credible platform to speak from.
So another error here - SkyNews is not the minority media provider in Australia; it is a subsidiary of NewsCorp, who own the some of the major news services in Australia - the Australian, The Daily Telegraph, the Herald Sun, etc. His point that the media landscape is limited is true, but it's a small country. The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) is a good counterpoint to the rightwing NewsCorp empire, as is The Guardian, as is FairFax Media (centre, centre right).
The good news is that God really made it this simple to be saved,

What Hebrews actually says that if we "go on sinning" as in trying to justify ourselves under the Mosaic law by vain works, ritual washing and animal sacrifice (remember the book is written to the Hebrews) that's rejecting Christ's sacrifice and fulfillment of that covenant and evidence of faithlessness (unbelief).
"For by a single offering he has perfected _for all time_ those who are being sanctified." Hebrews 10:14 (Emphasis added).
"How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?" Hebrews 10:29

Either you believe that He was lying, what He said is wrong or what He said is irrelevant. Jesus by virtue of being divine cannot lie and if you believe that He was lying then you are denying the divinity of Christ, again by virtue of Christ’s divinity He can’t be wrong and if you believe that He was wrong then you are denying His divinity, if you don’t deny His divinity then you are denying that God is perfect and both omnipotent and omniscient because you are saying that He is wrong which, if you recognise God to be perfect and the creator, is against his nature and God cannot do things that are against his nature so effectively you are denying God. If you believe that what Jesus taught and commanded was irrelevant then you again would be denying his divinity because the truly divine cannot be irrelevant, if one thing were irrelevant than why isn’t something else irrelevant, why would anything that God says or commands matter if it might or could be irrelevant. Ultimately it seems that you choose what you want to believe by your own interpretation which is open to fault by your nature due to original sin.

It doesn't follow that He was saying "you'll lose your salvation if you ever sin again" from "go and sin no more," nor does it make it irrelevant; there are consequences to sin other than damnation.

You are misinterpreting the scripture. Clearly Jesus was using hyperbole, since He Himself called Abraham "father," the Apostles referred to elders in the faith as "fathers," the Apostles also referred to their disciples and congregants as "children," and St. Paul speaks of himself as becoming a "Father" through Christ.
"For though you might have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers. Indeed, in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel." 1 Corinthians 4:15
The tradition of calling priests "father," actually began at the beginning of the Church, with the Apostles themselves, and has carried on for 2,000 years.
The Apostles who were with Christ for 3 years must've known that Jesus was using hyperbole, and did not mean for it to be taken literally.
It is easy to tell that you are the one misinterpreting the verse, because if it is to be taken literally, then we have a problem of the Bible contradicting itself, Jesus contradicting His own teaching, and the Apostles disobeying His teaching. The Word of God does not contradict itself, because It is truth, and is innerrant and infallible.... so if you come across any contradictions, it is a clear indication that you are misinterpreting it.

And Revelation 5:8 is just plain false- When He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints (NASB). This clearly says the prayers of the saints are brought to Jesus. Unless you’re implying Jesus isn’t the slain Lamb? Or that Saint John was lying? When you pray for someone your prayers are sent to Jesus. When you pray for a Saint to pray for you their prayers are sent to Jesus. Unless of course, scripture is lying.
