I don't agree, although I totally like the resulting table saw, I think Matthias' video's are more educative. Although you can see small accidents happen in Matthias' workshop, he rarely hurt himself because he takes better safety precautions. If you have/want million of viewers you better set a good example. DESIGN: Matthias shares more of his design / experiments.
Spot on mate, was thinking the same thing. We call it a Kerf in Australia (fun fact), and is a more essential safety feature than a hand guard or safety switch in my not so humble opinion
@@loknut6614 in my part of Australia the kerf is the amount of material removed by the blades teeth.. it has nothing to do with the riving knife which moves with the blade or a splitter which has a fixed height..
Really clever! Getting the axis for the trunnion like that took some thinking! I'm guessing you passed all your geometry classes. Having the lift / tilt mechanism mounted to the cabinet instead of the top is smart too! I wonder why so many major manufacturers don't do that? Oh wait... yeah now I remember. It should be fun waiting for the safety trolls' comments on this one. Those unorthodox circ-saw techniques might cause some wet panties. ;-)
The system is wobbly as fuck like this. Only the threaded rod and the precision of the wood guides limit the wobble... Making that stuff precise enough for zero movement would cost more than most table saws do.
1. This guy is the sharpest tool in the shed. Every clip was a "why didn't I think of that" thought lol. Thank you for the inspiration. 2. Looking for advice. I tried to do this a few weeks ago (wish i stumbled on your vid then). I took my ryobi circular saw apart..and could not get it to start again. I thought maybe there a high-tech blade guard sensor that might cause the saw to shutdown if taken apart. Did you have any issues like this? if so, what did you do?

I was just thinking "well that's a table saw Matthias would love !". And here you are.
I was just about to comment that maybe he shouldn't paint it green, just in case it gets mistaken for something a certain famous TH-cam builder might make.
I don't see any mechanic locks the blade tightly after adjustments
I'm no expert, but I expect that the nature of the treads and rod should keep the saw cradle in place wherever the rotation stopped.

What an exciting project to look forward to , thank you for sharing your creativity with people , God bless.
You need a riving knife. :) Great build!
@@UnacceptableViews yes, I have heard that terminology as well, I think they call the Riving knife a kerf in NZ as well as parts of Australia.
Fantastic job friend!
The box, I can make it. I'm sure!
Me too. And there is a 73% probability that it will in fact be square. 😁
I'm very enjoy to watching your video. You are a true master craft!
Hmm. Wait.
Why aren't they ALL like that?
pocket83² Right!?
👍
indeed..!
