What gets me about this, is that no one thought of it before. As part of my job I build very complex financial and business models, mostly in Excel. The more complex a system is, the more you need to break it down into component parts and develop a philosophy on how to construct such a system. My philosophy is: start from the simplest iteration, then build upon that with layers and filters. In the case of a Perpetual Calendar, the simplest iteration is the 28 day month. Stephen McDonnell used the same logic here, he built on that base of 28 days. It's counterintuitive, you only see a 28 day month 3 times every 4 years, its goes against conventional thinking to use that as the rule not the exception. Amazing, amazing thinking. Absolute genius.
I'm really impressed that your company was able to completely isolate the perpetual calendar module. While not apparent at the moment, I believe this mechanism provides the foundation for future modular complications
