The hanger on your tripod is for a bag, when you shoot outdoors it comes in handy when keeping the tripod staple and secure with weight

the tripod hook is for a sandbag if you ever get a large lens for the 90D and attach it to the tripod, it won't fallow over with a sandbag attached(counter weight) of the sandbag will keep it stable
