In the women's a capella organization "Sweet Adelines," the singers are taught to "fill your space," rather than merely standing to sing. You do a marvelous job of "filling your space" with gesture, facial expression, lively eyes, and great energy -- and you simultaneously fill our ears with marvelous harmony: thus, you fill our hearts in many ways. Thank you!
+sonyahannah Hahaha I can always count on your comments to make me feel like a million bucks :). You always write the nicest things. Thank you so much, Sonya! you're the best :)
Outstanding Sonny. Queen is a quality label but that doesn't mean it is an easy ride, quite the contrary! It takes high skill to convert such top notch songs into something different and still perfect!
+Dieter Verhofstadt Thank you so very much, Dieter! I really appreciate it a lot :). It starts with a good arrangement! I have to stick with that, but I always try to give it that little extra in the interpretation. Some people like it and some don't :). Always a pleasure to read your comments, man! Thanks
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW....DID I SAY...WOW WOW WOW!! Freddie would be so proud & thank you for such a Gift to a great iconic band I grew up with. Awesome Sonny....an enormous achievement not easily accomplished...I applaud you..!
Did I seriously not answer to this comment? I make a point of sending a reply to everyone who leaves a comment. Anyways, thank you sooo very much for your kind words!! I really appreciate it :)
When I first saw "barbershop" I didn't think I would like it at all but I'm not someone to shoot something down before I've tried it and I don't regret listening to this at all. You are so amazing!
Love your channel and all of your videos! Your harmonies are flawless! I am a huge fan of Queen, maybe you could do more Queen songs along with all of your other stuff (which I am enjoying right now). I believe the song '39 would be perfect in this Barbershop format. Thank you!
+Pyrolight Hahaha that's great :). After you've watched it, was it as 'awesome' as you had hoped it would be though? I wouldn't want to let you down :)
Did I seriously not answer to this comment? I make a point of sending a reply to everyone who leaves a comment. Anyways, thank you sooo very much for your kind words!! I really appreciate it :)
I am in nostalgic mood ! I heard them on Budapest . Was a great experience. I am happy , that I found your's processing. Wonderful sounds , nice performance . What a pure sound shapes ! Congratulation from my heart . I like the your songs .
Unbelievable!!! Brought tears to my eyes this was so beautiful. To do all 4 parts acapella is truly a gift. Thank you. Will be putting a request on FB.
Didn't see this one when it came out (October was a difficult month). SO worth waiting for! So impressive how you made your lead voice stand out from the others; if I had heard this on audio alone, I wouldn't have known it was all you. How do you do that?! SO good!
+janetranslates Thanks a lot, Jane! I put some more musicality in my lead part. The harmonies are sung straighter and more in a serving way. I hope that makes sense :). Thank you so very much for the kind words, Jane :)
Gotta love the work and effort you put into these man, you keep getting better and better, and I feel privileged to be able to witness your growth as a singer and youtube star. Keep doing what you do, and have fun doing it!
+Jonathan Obomsawin Wow, Jonathan. That was such a nice message, man. I'm so glad to have such supportive people such as yourself to help me along the way! Thank you so very much, Jonathan. The support means more to me than you might think!
Wow Sonny, this is a master piece and you nailed it. Love this song, thousand thanks for sharing this beautiful song with us. I will not try it with my quartet unfortunately. Take care and best regards from Finland, Pascal
Just came across this. It needs to be said that doing contemporary rock/pop songs in barbershop style while stylizing *just* enough to pay tribute to the original artist is very difficult. Too much rock/pop artistry generally results in the chords not locking and ringing. What an outstanding job you did melding the two worlds of barbershop and rock to create a real crowd-pleaser!
Thanks so much for your kind words, Cheryl. It's funny that you think about this, because this was a definite concern of mine. I sing in a Queen tribute band and I felt very conflicted singing this song like this. It's actually way too clean for Freddie Mercury. But as you put it, it's almost impossible to make the chords lock and ring if you'd sing it as freely and as 'rock dirty' as Freddie did so magnificently! I'll never be able to fully enjoy rock music in this barbershop scene, but choices had to be made to make this arrangement work. Thanks so much for noticing :D
As a blues/soul/funk singer, I feel your pain! We have a Motown show coming up and I'm dying to "rub some dirt on it"...but like you said, those artistic choices have to be made. Signature's lead does a fantastic job of riding that line, too. @@sgtsonny
Thanks! I wasn't even really trying in this video, since barbershop is all about being as clean as possible :). I'd love to sing in a Queen Tribute band one day and really let it rip :). Thanks for stopping by!
Fantastic!! I just saw the movie Bohemian Rhapsody and was listening to some Queen and this came up as a recommendation. Sonny, I know your stuff is always great, but this was a new one for me and Wow! What a great job you did.
Sonny Vande Putte - You’re most welcome. Sonny. I actually just saw Queen w/ Adam Lambert a couple of weeks ago and your performance still stands up to original group. Keep up the great work.
+NOLANRYANHOSKINS Dude, don't worry about it. I'm so glad that you're supporting me in any way you can. So you're pledge already means more to me than you might think!! Thank you very much for the support, man!!
+Sonny Vande Putte I love to hear that man! I'm very active in the musical arts and I love a Capella music. You are by far my favorite barbershop style singer on TH-cam.
Did I seriously not answer to this comment? I make a point of sending a reply to everyone who leaves a comment. Anyways, thank you sooo very much for your kind words!! I really appreciate it :)
+Sonny Vande Putte I shouldn't be trying to to "tune" my voice anyway; I'm an instrumentalist. We all have our limitations, but yours is definitely not your voice! Awesome!!
I think what you do is amazing and then I heard you're a Sargent in the army. How amazing is that?! Thanks for bringing such joy to each day with your wonderful music. you should make an album I'd buy it ^^,
Weeeeeell, I actually have two acapella albums out :). You can find them at my bandcamp page sgtsonny.bandcamp.com. Feel free to give 'em a listen :). Thanks for the support!
Hello Sonny Vande Putte, my name is Manuel Garcia Jr. I'm 18 years and NEW song was AWESOME, just very COOL, if you are reading this, I'm happy to hear every TH-cam channel I listened, p.s. love your songs from you and Julien Neel (trudbol) if you know him, Please write back Manuel Garcia Jr. :)
+Manuel Garcia Jr. Hi Manuel, I sure do know Julien, since I've sung about 10 different songs with him. He's a great guy :). Thanks for stopping by, man!
Your welcome Sonny, you know you and him made knew songs like "Anything Goes", "Joy to the World", I think you should change your Playlist please since you made some great videos with your French friend way back and yet right now, you and Trudbol just make me HAPPY on the Outside :), Please write back Manuel Garcia Jr.
You make this look so easy and that's a fantastic tribute to you. Queen were real pioneers of close harmony in rock (ok, The Beach Boys did quite a bit too, but I think Queen took it to another level) and your version is so true to the original in both musical quality and intensity that it's just stunning. And you have to have a great voice to do that (PS I'll be singing another of your lead numbers with an Acapella group in a couple of months - not this song (!) because I don't have your range, but "The Longest Time")
You know English enough to make me smile :D. I'm super glad to know that I have people in Argentina that listen to my music as well. Thank you very much for stopping by and leaving these kind words :)
Nicely done as always :) Excellent control and technique on your upper register D5. Queen is such an awesome group both for acapella singing and piano playing (I play the piano sometimes). When do I get the chicken dinner?
+Alexander Frank Queen most certainly is the band to approach for anything that needs more awesome sauce :). You get a chance to win the chicken dinner when you go to my facebook page (facebook.com/sgtsonnytracks) and vote for your favorite in the top 10 requests! Hope to see you there!
Hey Mister !!!!!!!!!!!! I do love what and how you sing !!!!!!! My wish would be to hear you singing the song "let's wait a while " of Janet Jackson ......... This was spectacular! Clear, bright intonation, harmonies perfect and great arrangement.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it :)
Oh my god I never thought this song could get a barbershop treatment. THIS IS AMAZING, THANK YOU!
+MistaTwigz Thank you very much! Kevin Keller did an amazing job arranging this fantastic monster of a song :).
I think Freddie Mercury would approve.
Wouldn't that be awesome? Thanks for stopping by!
Outstanding Sonny. Queen is a quality label but that doesn't mean it is an easy ride, quite the contrary! It takes high skill to convert such top notch songs into something different and still perfect!

Once again, another fantastic arrangement!!!! Thank you again, Sonny!
You are very welcome, man! I appreciate you taking the time to leave me (and the arranger Kevin Keller) some kind words.
