@@beastyboy101bo Except he didn’t say something as stupid as “70s is when music peaked.” In fact, he said the opposite by saying that music has evolved so much in recent years. Also, dissing on a genre you dislike isn’t pretentious. If Joey doesn’t like most rap then it’s fine for him to say he doesn’t care for anyone on the scene besides a few. So no, there is nothing pretentious about the things Joey said. In fact, he didn’t say a single negative thing about any music picks at all in this video. He was genuinely just happy to be able to talk about one of his passions with this friends on the podcast. I don’t know why you have to twist it into drama for nothing.
I wanna see Joey explain music concepts like "post" genres to Connor like post hardcore and post metalcore or the differences between emo and midwest emo
Basically my experience on this episode: *Someone mentions a song "Ah shit, here we go again" *Pause the podcast *Finds and listen to the song *Back to the podcast
I actually respect that Connor is willing to acknowledge how little he knows about music and that he doesn't know how to explain it when he talks about it, I honestly find it pretty endearing, and I think it's much better than people who really try to explain and talk about music and pretend they know what they're talking about while acting really sure of themselves, but just end up just explaining things in a really lacking and uninformed way that doesn't really do it justice, I find Connor's explanations to be a lot more genuine and engaging as a result. I also find interesting how they make fun of him for not being able to explain the feelings behind music, because truthfully I feel a lot of what music evokes in someone isn't really meant to be easily explainable, some people who have the capacity do so find ways using certain words, terms and connections to help convey what it does for them, but what music tends to make people feel is more about vibes, sensations and mental imagery as much as it is about typical emotions a lot of the time (especially with instrumental music) so I really don't blame him struggling with it and I still find it fun to listen to him try 😄
For me I developed a way to talk about the music that I like because I tend to like music that is not well respected by people who supposedly know music. I love The Backstreet Boys and people in the US tend to give little respect to boys bands so I felt like I had to defend my choice to listen to their music.
To think, I was going to skip this episode because I didn't want to listen to the boys talk about their trash taste in music. Then I decided to listen to this episode because I needed something to listen to in the background as I work. I listened to the very end and am so happy that I did. We got more Lore about the boys, got some great music recommendations and like always, had a good laugh with the boys! Just a shout out to the boys and to the Team of Trash Taste for always providing great quality content every week!!! Keep up the epic work!!! :D

The "anime-like music" genre that Garnt talked about is specifically the Vocaloid/Niconico music scene. Eve grew popular covering Vocaloid songs for years as an utaite before beginning to write songs himself. ZUTOMAYO's first song was a collaboration between ACA-Ne (the singer) and Nuyuri (a vocaloid producer). ACA-Ne being the driving force of the group whether she's writing songs herself or collabs with others. Yorushika is a duo between Vocaloid producer n-buna and singer Suis YOASOBI is a duo between Vocaloid producer Ayase and singer-songwriter Ikura. Ado, mafumafu, Kenshi Yonezu, supercell/egoist, Miyashita Yuu, Amatsuki, ClariS, TUYU, Yoh Kamiyama, Nano, the list of popular artists that grew from this music scene and its influence are countless. Minami is an sort of an outlier in that she started as a singer signed onto FlyingDog; a record label specifically for anime music. But considering the face of the Vocaloid/niconico music boom is Hatsune Miku there's always been those two halfs of people who love creating music and otaku/anime fans that came together in making that community what it is.
Anime and Mangas are incredibly popular in France since the 70's. Daft punk were french kids in the 70's/80's. In France Albator (captain harlock) was incredibly popular from the late 70's to the 80's. They said in multiple french interviews, that it's there love for Albator (Harlock) and Galaxy Express 999 that pushed them to ask Matsumoto to collaborate with them.

I can relate so hard to the "I don't know what makes good music" sentiment. One of my favorite channels is Sideways and listening to this man barely contain his passion as his brain is about to blow a gasket as he talks at length about music and musical theory and the absolute madmen that are Rodgers and Hammerstein and Hans Zimmer and just musical theater as a whole absolutely entrances me every time he makes a video, yet I have barely any clue what he is talking about.
I absolutely love that channel! I have a passing understanding of music theory but I’m pretty lost when he talks. Still love it tho

Yorushika is a duo between Vocaloid producer n-buna and singer Suis
YOASOBI is a duo between Vocaloid producer Ayase and singer-songwriter Ikura.
And dont forget suis and n-buna of Yorushika
