      No it's literally in same ball park as the competition, people pay the price for the unlimited upgrades and robust durability. Fyi Traxxas XO 1 out the box runs 100mph the felony out the box runs 80. To get the felony up to 100 you spend 60 more than buying the Traxxas right out the box.

    I'll take my Losi 8IGHT XE/XTE RTR any day over this! Spektrum electronics and TLR suspension/chassis tuning over Traxxas. I understand there is a $100 price difference on the 4S models but I trust Losi electronics way more than Traxxas, plus I can bind my DX remote to the Losi out of the box. "Budget" oriented Traxxas models in my opinion tend to be more headache than they are worth, Traxxas has mastered the art of incentivizing people to upgrade cars, to the point where regular use requires them. That car will not do 60mph without the speed gear, that you can't run on the track, meanwhile the Losi will do 55mph all day without overheating

    $805 Australian before all the import taxes and everything meaning it'll almost certainly be over $1000 here, I'm glad there are some decent companies like Team Corally selling cars like the Syncro4 for literally half the price and basically everything is way better than traxxas parts, the Syncro4 even comes with the TC 6s drivetrain👌

    • @DoRC

      @DoRC yes I know I have a few Corally vehicles now, but the older drivetrain is still far stronger than this traxxas drivetrain, main point being this thing is just too expensive having a 3s drivetrain because they are quite vulnerable on 4s.

    I'd go fot the Typhon 6s before this one. More power for about the same price. And from the l9oks of it, the Typhon is built tougher. I have a Typhon 6s TLR and i lov3 it.

      @XWXW-lk4jf 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Typhoon is a phenomenal vechile. It is a handful on 6s but once you get comfortable with it you have a vechile capable of nearly 80 mph. Given how well the 4s system in the Maxx does, I would have thought that given this is a lighter vechile, it would really rip. That said, it looks like they used a lesser system so your probably not gonna see something on par with the Redcat Valkyrie let alone a Typhoon. That said, the Diehard Traxxas folks like that fellow Mark Santa something will be talking this up like as being the best buggy that a manufacturer has ever released and the reason you pay $225 dollars more for this is because it is Traxxas tough. Never mind the fact that you end up having to pay $900, $400 in upgrades just to get it to be on par with something like a $500 Typhoon.

All of these other options have more power, better electronics, better chassis, and more adjustments. I want to like this car, but for that price point, I would be looking at Team Corally. So talking in traxxas dollars here, it would cost about $160 to bring the BL-2s to the vxl spec excluding the tires and electronics. So at that point you’re sort of paying $50 for the upgrade to vxl 4s. Granted you lose out on old parts you could make some money back on, but you also save a lot of time upgrading. The vxl 4s motor is reliable, but the esc is questionable. If I don’t end up getting the disruptor before, I could see myself grabbing the vxl one. I’m not saying it’s bad the price is a little steep, I bought my Traxxas stamped 4x4 vxl about 11 years ago and it has lasted me all that time and I paid about $490 due to me saving for a long time, after all you don’t rake in a lot when you 7 years old, the point I’m getting at if it makes you happy and you enjoy it for years to come it might be worth it.

      Absolutely. There are plenty of people that will buy this and plenty of people who will enjoy it. My biggest concern is that right now Traxxas seems to be doing their own thing price wise and I'm worried it's going to drag the rest of the market up with it

    I watched this as I like DoRc, I'm not a fan of Traxxas due to the way they operate, this car further verifies this by taking the customer for granted and not supplying some of the obvious upgrades you highlighted. As you say, they will no doubt be optional upgrades you'll have to pay for, rather than supplying the best car they can out of the box. Think Arrma have this release beat.

    as someone who races associated comp buggies i would like to see sway bars, and adjustable links at a minimum at this price. steel axles would be nice, but not necessary at first. the plastic diffs dont bother me though. my comp buggy has plastic diffs and ive never had issues out of them. the sway bars, and adjustable links would put it alot closer to that comp price range and a proper built comp buggy rtr can run you $2,000. so for a racer the price isnt great, but not terrible. for a back yard basher its a pretty steep price for sure, espacially compared to the other bashers out there at this price point. i personally would love to see traxxas release a comp ready buggy and get into the race scene.

    I agree its priced a bit high, but as someone that has had high end cars and also built traxxas platforms up you can’t beat there availability of parts and durability and interchangeable parts, my traxxas cars never stay broken. Also for anyone that knows how to set up and tune properly, adjustable links and proper gearing don't cost much! Those drive shafts will have no problems holding up to buggy light weight wheels and are also the strongest to weight drives on the market ! there plastic is next level. It keeps the weight of the drive line down , that is the reason there is no need for heat sinks or a fan. Traxxas engineering is to quickly overlooked by people that only focus on anodized parts just my opinion 😎.

    @2down4up 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I do think it’s too expensive for sure! The 2s needs to be $100 less and so does this! Especially given some of the cut corners. But what that tells me is they’re likely gonna come out with an ultimate which will fix all the cut corners, and likely still be too expensive. Though if they keep the ultimate at this price and bump the others down….. oh who am I kidding?!
    But aside from the price I have a few thoughts. First off I’ve never had issues fitting any aftermarket batteries in any of my Traxxas models except, for obvious reasons, the Revo. But even then aftermarket batteries that fit aren’t hard to find. At least in my experience Traxxas batteries aren’t really a super specific/rare size and they usually come with foam for adjustments. And I much prefer the Traxxas method of securing the batteries over Velcro straps. I hate Velcro straps! Unless they changed the guts of the steering servo and didn’t tell anyone, then that is ridiculous! Plastic geared servo on 4s at this price point?! C’mon. But now my main two points. I have a Hoss and as you know the Hoss runs the Maxx motor but the 3S ESC. So of course I had to get the Maxx ESC and bolt it in. Changing nothing else, at first, honestly the truck is absolutely insane! Standing and practically unending back flips for as long as you wanna hold the throttle. I have no idea what it’s top speed is because even at when approaching 50mph there’s enough trigger left to through the wheels up. It’ll run nearly an hour on one of Traxxas smaller 4s packs if I’m not going hard on it. Going full throttle as much as possible, about 30 minutes. The ESC has a fan, the motor doesn’t. The motor never gets hot. It never gets to the point that I can’t touch and hold onto it. The truck is so light for the motor it just doesn’t need to work hard enough to generate heat. Even in hundred plus degree weather running as hard as possible in grass, it doesn’t get hot enough to need a fan. So assuming the JATO, hate that name! It’s like if someone were to slap the Mustang name on an electric crossover! Oh wait….. But I digress. Assuming the JATO is about the same weight as the Hoss, and the motor gets some airflow, I doubt it’ll need fans. But the ESC? Now that I’m unsure of. There’s no doubt I want this and no doubt all the haters will hate on me if I ever get it. But that’s ok. This is a hobby that’s meant to be fun. I love my Traxxas models just as much as my Arrmas, my Kyoshos, my HPIs, my Tamiyas, my Furiteks, and so on. One thing I can say for sure about Traxxas is they’re usually always one of the best designed and built RTRs of all the brands especially when it comes to minor details. Does that really matter to most people? Nope! And no doubt many will argue with everything I just said!

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're correct. The market has come along and made a lot of different battery options that fit the Traxxas box but it would be nice if they would just use straps like everybody else

    • @2down4up
      @2down4up 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DoRC Let me start by saying I’m only speaking for myself and I’m not trying to change anybody’s minds about this. Everything that follows is specific to me. Now with that little disclaimer out of the way, I dislike the straps! Yes they work fine, usually, and they’re as universal as can be, but at least for me they always get dirty and then the Velcro doesn’t hold well. Then I’ve got to clean the Velcro and no it’s not hard to do, but I just wish I didn’t have to do it at all! I’m aware this is the epitome of a first world problem! But it doesn’t change the fact that I’ve had batteries eject from straps because they were too dirty to hold tightly and I didn’t have a way to quickly clean them. Especially in any RC where the body covers the tires! I hate that design! Looking at you short course trucks! Yeah it looks cool but aside from the generally poor aerodynamics at high speeds, my slashes take flight without mods or different bodies, every single spec of dirt that a tire throws up goes straight into the chassis. So I especially dislike straps on my short course trucks. To be clear I totally get what you’re saying and you’re absolutely right in that straps are universal and thus give you practically unlimited options and that freedom of choice is very valuable. But at least in my case, most of my batteries have at least one dimension in common such that they will work in the Traxxas battery trays. Again my Revo is an exception and no doubt the X Maxx, Maxx, and some of the older models are as well. I guess what I’m trying to say is I just don’t like dealing with dirty Velcro and between the two options I’ll take the Traxxas design. But what would be really awesome would be for someone to come up with something as universal as Velcro but as unbothered by dirt as Traxxas. That would be sweet! Oh and I’d also wish for all the hatred and bullying between both sides pro Traxxas and anti Traxxas to stop! I actually feel bad for some TH-camrs because if they say something nice about Traxxas the angry mobs come out with figurative pitchforks and all kinds of messed up accusations. It’s unnecessary and it doesn’t do anyone any good! Ok I’ll get off my soap box now.

      @2down4up absolutely. I think that there are plenty of people that like the Traxxas holddowns I'm not one of them because I don't have much in the way of Traxxas shaped batteries so most of the time I don't have something that will fit the stock location but that's just my own personal experience. @IsaacSchultz-lz8jc I won't be surprised when it gets hot but I'm not sure that's something we should just come to accept :-) at that price them adding an extra $2 in fans probably wouldn't have killed them.

      I like traxxas for the most part but the cost of the electronics and the quality is just so out of touch, for the same price as the vxl3s you can get a hobbywing g2 combo that can run 4s and the vxl4s will probably cost upwards of $200. I love their cars just hate the electronics

      @DoRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah I'm just kind of struggling to understand who they are trying to appeal to here. I mean it's not really set up for racing but it's way more expensive than the bashing competition

    • @Bellyrubs6s
      @Bellyrubs6s 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @DoRC if Traxxas does release adjustable links for this unit they are gonna be overpriced still so pretty much everything on this rc has to be aftermarket parts which is what I prefer for my Traxxas arsenal

  • @RCRoads

    Are those 3 squares on the esc indicator lights? You have A V and what looks like a thermometer symbol. It is a bit overpriced and perhaps your paying more for the brand. I agree that the 6s Typhon is a much better RC.

    • @DoRC

      Yes. Traxxas has been putting them on the larger ESCs for quite a while now.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I suspect it'll actually be pretty durable. The 3S platform is mature at this point and Traxxas has been putting out some of the most durable bashers you can get in the last few years.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @RBRC1 Yes and no. They were going to come out with brushed and brushless forms and they have to release one or the other first. They are in business to make money and it wouldn't make monetary sense for them to release the brushless one first. I do understand feeling like that was being very but I think both models are fairly reasonably priced for what you get and again they are in business to make money

      I was expecting to have the issues I see people complain about traxxas batteries dying early and to be switched over to a different brand/plug by now. Bought six traxxas batteries in 2020 and they're all still going strong.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes and no. The X-Max definitely is an awesome truck but in the 1/8 scale buggy segment there's a lot more competition. The 6s Typhon is a very mature product and the latest buggies from TC represent serious value for money.
