Hello from Guanzhou, China! Had the opportunity to catch up with Aidan here before heading back to Asia for another tour with Chris Botti. We just opened my Text Lessons Studio back up for the first time in almost a year! If you want guidance and mentorship for achieving your goals, would love to work with you! www.jazzlessonvideos.com/text-lessons

Aidan is amazing! I had the privilege of looking up to him as a saxophonist back at Garfield HS (and playing with him at the occasional jam session!)
    absolutely going places.

I knew I recognized the classroom at the beginning of the video…

I really listened to your ending comments. Had my saxophone instructor told me that 30 years ago I would not have given up like I did. I always thought that I was just deluded and didn't have talent to finish my degree.

Thanks soo much for sharing this conversation. And the semester's assignments. Very inspirational for sure, at my 'ripe olde age of 67' -- a classical player more than a jazz player, never had good jazz training, which I can certainly remedy! Go Aiden!!! and Thank you Chad.

Wonderful video - thank you. Learning how to learn something is key, and there is so much good advice in here. And then to offer the first batch of assignments to us for FREE. Really appreciate this!

Great info!!! These are concepts that apply to the process for mastering ANYTHING. My daughter is a high school soccer player and I can apply them to her getting better at soccer!!

This is not a comment but a question to Aidan : I had the opportunity to study with CLB crew thru text lessons videos. Was really great and I my progression was noticeable. But I thought assignments were really huge. It took me about 2 to 5 months to really nailed one assignment, while they were supposed to be cleared in one month (and I dedicated 1 or 2 hours a day to sax practice). So Aidan, what was your tempo to clear a full assignment ?

Hey man, not sure if Aidan will see this or not. I'm also with the assignments at the moment. The whole premise is that they can be cleared faster or slower, at your own pace. I remember my first time playing a phrase in all 12 keys, it would take me over an hour just to get through them all (and thats not even playing them well). Now that I've done it more, my ear is naturally connecting to my fingers and I can get through it quicker. Itd be interesting to hear how Aidan went, the video did mention that he'd sometime get through that "months" assignment quickly and ask Chad for more stuff before their next lesson. Hope that helps!

Hi! There is definitely a wide range of times that it took me to get through assignments. At the beginning, when I was unfamiliar with playing in all 12 keys, it took me a long time and a lot of mental effort to get through them. After a couple months, I started to notice the transpositions getting easier to do, and eventually they became almost second nature. As you work on the concepts, it should become gradually easier to get through them each time, as you have more experience to base your work on. Hope this helps!!

@@russelljazzbeck It really depends how busy they are in that time. To be fair, its more like a day and a half for me, which kinda makes sense as im opposite time zone to america. I normally get a quick response if its after theyve just replied online.
