Dear Michael. Great selection here. Missed the Jimmy Smith one (my all time fave). By the way loved your comment on Chad's video "Surrounded by Legends" . Keep on.
I love Intervention Records for their LPs and SACDs. Super, super quality stuff. I purchased Joe Jackson Body & Soul SACD a while back and have the pre-order in for the LP (one of my all-time favorite albums and an amazing recording). I Have the Murray Head, Marshall Crenshaw,, Billy Squire, JJ Look Sharp, and Night & Day. I am so pleased with their stuff and all at a great price. Thanks again for the video!
I always take time to watch your videos my friend. Life gets busy sometimes but it's always good to chill out with a beer and watch some TH-cam and you're one of the first ones I turned to. Much peace
Since you mentioned the Patricia Barber album I had to have a listen on youtube. Wow, it sounds amazing even here. Will definitely have to seek this one out, thanks Michael :)
Thanks for the video, Michael. My woes are with Blue Note (UK store) at moment. I've replied to an email from customer service with "I'm very disappointed to hear that Blue Note are unable to fulfil my order for Blue Note releases at this time. I placed the preorder in March and see the records available through other online stores - so that makes no sense at all. I was about to place a preorder for Cool Struttin' but won't do that now. I don't feel confident that the order would be fulfilled. I will give Blue Note a chance to fulfil my order for Soul Station and Passing Ships. I look forward to hearing from Blue Note when they are available." They say they're looking all over for copies. It's frustrating when they never issued an update on the delay. I have a few of the Tone Poet releases and the Classics. I'll be patient and hope they can deliver what are quality records.
Excellent content once again, Michael. Couldn’t agree more on the Patricia Barber. A highlight of my collection. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this series.
Joe Harley is a legend for the work he’s done. He recently posted on Instagram a picture of the original tapes of Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On and he said Kevin Gray did his magic on it. There’s no other info online about this except his Instagram post. Super excited for it, especially since it’s the 50th anniversary of this record.
@Scott Byhoff I don’t think it will be better than the one step. But it will likely be a nice affordable option. We need a good pressing of this record out there at an entry level price IMO. The one step is incredible and will likely not be surpassed but can’t find one today for under $300. Plus I assume whatever it is will be at 33rpm which is good for this album as it flows more continuously.
Nice that you put some credit on labels that are not in the "limited only" business!! 👏. I am still surprised to see MMJ at place 10! Can't wait to see the places of sam records and AP!!
Great choices, Michael. Thank you for sharing. I need more IMPEX in my collection. I love Intervention's Joan Armatrading. Incredible sounding record. I am looking forward to their release of The Church's Starfish.
Great choices! Tone Poet releases continue to impress. Looking forward to The Church from Intervention, and bought Joan Armatrading thanks to you! Impex too...their versions of Monk's Dream and LeGrand Jazz are remarkably fabulous. All are just great, with such attention to detail.
great episode michael. surprised to see music matters jazz down below in the list since i feel they didn't only start doing quality remastering but also having the best jackets with crystal clear photos inside the gatefold.
Al Di Meola announced last summer they found tapes from Saturday Night in San Fransisco and they will be releasing the album this summer. I can't imagine it rivaling Friday Night in S.F. but looking forward to it.
Great video, your approach has been spotless. Regarding Tone Poets, I totally support the idea of bringing more contemporary artists.I love the classics, but jazz is always moving on, and we gotta keep up. We all know Pelé was the greatest, but new players are great too! We deserve Norah Jones and Diana Krall as TPs
Interesting video. I thought Music Matters would be in your top 5. I guess 6-1: 6. Vinyl Me Please? 5-1, pretty sure: Classic Mobile Fidelity Sam ERC Analogue Productions
Michael, do you think Blue Note licensed others like Music Matters to issue small numbers in order to test the market, knowing that if it worked they would do a similar thing in larger numbers?
On Blue Note, the 80s series is better than the Classics (due to various issues with some of the pressings). I’m still holding out on Moanin’ but copies of MMJ and other pressings are still expensive. One recently sold on eBay for $180. I’m still hoping! I hope MMJ does some of the Craft labels because more need to be reissued; Craft’s reissue program is slow.
@@Jazzeum i can recommend an excellent Seller at :-)Bay : JAZZBLUESJAPAN , i have purchased a couple of Blue Note records . Excellent quality + exc. Service. Be patient , it may take time, but it is worth ! Discogs is Ok, but you are never 100% sure !
What is your hesitation with the Pete LaRoca? I own the same copy and think the pressing and the music is outstanding. Just a question and you are obviously welcome to disagree. Much respect

I just ordered the Legrand Jazz 45 thanks to this.

Lovely presentation! I would look after Jennifer Warnes - all Impex Records, too! I love them!

Wow. Shocked that Intervention is in front of Music Matters. Tough choices here. Fun to watch. Thanks, ML.

Enjoying your take on this.
Happy Father’s Day, Michael. I hope you’re having a great day with some great records
Bought Joan Armatrading after your considerations in the earlier video, it blew my mind. So great!!!!!!
Great
Great video
More great ones!
The Patricia Barber is the best Vinyl I have heard so far. Black Backround... the silence is unreal. a superb pressing.
Which album?
Some great choices!!!
Thanks for mentioning Intervention, I don’t have any of those so I’m going to try a couple of Joe Jackson titles

Hi Michael, can you please share details of the record shelf behind you? Many thanks!
Will talk about it in my upcoming Roomtour
Interesting video. I thought Music Matters would be in your top 5.
I guess 6-1:
6. Vinyl Me Please?
5-1, pretty sure:
Classic
Mobile Fidelity
Sam
ERC
Analogue Productions
👌😍
Blue Note should just hire the other Music Matters guy to head a new series of 45 RPM editions.
On the final video could you please end with a recap of the total list?
Great list again. Do you use a mono catridge for the mono records?
Not up to yet, but i am working on it
Enjoyable....but expensive, as always! :D
Michael, do you think Blue Note licensed others like Music Matters to issue small numbers in order to test the market, knowing that if it worked they would do a similar thing in larger numbers?
No i dont think that they plan this far ahead
Do you sill purchase your vinyl or do you get these complimentary? Nevertheless, I really enjoy your talks - thank you.
Strangely enough, but i have to buy them
I found a copy of planet waves MoFi for 85 dollars ? Would you recommend, plus would it be worth it ?
A clarification...it's not "ATs Life" it's "A.T.'s Life"; he was called A.T., Arthur Taylor was.

I can recommend the Japan (King Record ) pressing of Moanin . Easy to find in NM condition, not crazy expensive, and the sound is really superb !!

I’m really surprised neither MMJ nor Tone Poet made it in your top 5. I’m beginning to think ERC is way up there.
We already know who #1 will be. 😁
I’m guessing MMJ would have ranked much higher if they pressed more and buying from them was an easier experience.
Hi Michael, do you own any records from Reference Recordings, any thoughts about them? Thx Sergei
Are you still working on this countdown series?
Wait another hour :-)
Are Sundazed and Friday music in the audiophile category? I heard somewhere that they both remaster from the tapes...is that true?
Wait and see :-)
Have ever considered Reel to Reel recordings? you hear so little about it.
actually yes, i think they are simply great
What is your hesitation with the Pete LaRoca? I own the same copy and think the pressing and the music is outstanding. Just a question and you are obviously welcome to disagree. Much respect
Lastly, what surprised me is that they were/are having so many issues with the quality on the Hank Mobley pressed in Germany.
