What ppl didn't understand was the fact that ice t was a older cat, think about it, he's over 60 now so he hit the rap game in his late 20's so he already had wisdom and knowledge been in the military ect
@@ishmeelcurry3394 they were. If you were doing the shit that people considered cool now back then, you were considered the opposite. It wasn’t cool to be mumble and look stupid.
I love everything Ice T said, makes perfect sense. It sounds (just like today) that Conservatives back in 1992 demonized him from the start and weren't even interested in hearing his side of the story. At 5:10 to 6:35 he hit the nail on the head, that Middle America freaked out when white suburban kids started getting into him. Politicians similarly went after heavy metal in the 80s/early 90s too, but the police brutality issue is even more relevant today. This was years before social media, so this appearance was even more important for getting his message out. He clearly said there's good police too, but he was justifiably pissed off at the bad ones who brutalize people.
It was not just the conservatives, it was all politicians. Especially Tipper Gore, she went after all music, not just hip hop. There was an Oprah episode where Jello from the Dead Kennedy's called her ass out.
Tell 'em T! Back in those days rappers were actually INTELLIGENT and took PRIDE in that. Chuck,Ra,Ice,KRS,Cube, etc. I miss those days. And what he said about Arnold is true. And what's more powerful,SEEING people getting killed or HEARING it. And what he said about white kids (which is positive) NOT wanting to be racist. I remember this episode and probably have it on tape somewhere.
Yo man this video was good, is there a part 2 as well?. Ice-t is one of the most intelligent rappers to grace rap. Listening to him makes me realise how dope Hip-Hop was back in the early 90's.
My parents never infringed upon my musical choices and let me make decisions on what I liked.. they gave me advice but they never tried to rule my life. Freedom of choice is great!! I listened to a lot of rap in the 80’s and it was no different in what they were relaying about corruption and government intrusion than what metal was about as well, a truly eye opening time!
Idk what tf is up with black people today, but this is the black America I once knew and loved. Unapologetic, articulate, political, educated, street savvy, and black men acted like real men.
He made nothing but valid points in his defense.I think what made him such a threat was;he enunciates! You can understand every word he says. Some rappers muddle their words so badly, you wonder why they even bothered.
Those were true words right there man. I mean damn!! new rap can't compare to that. Ice-t is so intelligent, I'm 16 now. And damn i wish i was born back in the 80's or late 70's so that i could really grow up with hip-hop and all that. but i'm in the gay century where nothing makes since anymore.and real hip-hop has disappeared, and mainstream just sucks.
I've never been a big fan of rap music, however Ice-T is one of the few artist who has stayed true to his beliefs and has created a very respectful carrier. He speaks intelligently unlike 90% of other folks in the rap industry. I couldn't agree more with him on his views guns, He isn't afraid to speak his mind. His character on L&O SVU is great. Keep up the great job!
What young artist/rappers take for granted today is that NWA, ICE T, 2Pac, Geto boys, 2 Live Crew etc really fought the good fight in terms of lyrics and censorship and for the most part they ended up winning. Now artist pretty much say what they want without the government trying to shut their whole shit down. And vice Presidents trying to rip their album of the shelves and band the music. They went through that, so now artist don't go through that!
Wow I remember when there was all this controversy and I had to fight (verbally) to carry on listenin to rap and gangsta music with my parents cos of all this bullshit! This was why I loved Ice!
This guy is real, I'm an Italian guy from Brooklyn...this guy calls it the way he sees it..hip hop started in the Bronx...that's it I saw it with my own eyes ...it was an east coast thing i...no disrespect to great west coast rappers....every thing in this great land of ours started on this side
My nigga Ice-T......1st time I seen this interview & this is prolly the best interview I've seen. You couldnt argue about wat he says b/c wat he's sayin is 100% true
Yo, I don't give a fuck about what ANYBODY says, Ice goes hard, and is one of the baddest dudes in the rap game. He tells is like it is, and he makes sure that people know where he's comin' from, and what's why you gotta love him...
It's weird how articulate he is in comparison to rappers today.
What ppl didn't understand was the fact that ice t was a older cat, think about it, he's over 60 now so he hit the rap game in his late 20's so he already had wisdom and knowledge been in the military ect
I feel like people in their 20’s was more matured back in the 80’s and 90’s
He has ALWAYS been articulate because he is EXTREMELY intelligent .
@@ishmeelcurry3394 they were. If you were doing the shit that people considered cool now back then, you were considered the opposite. It wasn’t cool to be mumble and look stupid.
That’s for sure
He has mellowed out alot since then. I remember that interview and the young ice t. I've been a fan for decades....
Ice-T has so much style
So well mannered and outspoken.. He's a true MACK
I love everything Ice T said, makes perfect sense. Very true.. you’re speaking truth
This is the most honest and courageous interview i've ever seen.
A true pioneer of rappers who gained respect from the East Coast back in the day.
"I'm not a cop killer, I'D BE IN JAIL!"

Tell 'em T! Back in those days rappers were actually INTELLIGENT and took PRIDE in that. Chuck,Ra,Ice,KRS,Cube, etc. I miss those days. And what he said about Arnold is true. Early 90's :: you come on Arseno Hall wearing blue and red; AND you a gangsta rapper --->>> you know you a real one 😉
Ice-T is so awesome! He's such an intellegent and insightfull person. Thanks for posting this interview.
i saw Body Count live on the "Murder 4 Hire Tour" in Germany 3 years ago...was amazing!!!!
Yo man this video was good, is there a part 2 as well?. Ice-t is one of the most intelligent rappers to grace rap. Listening to him makes me realise how dope Hip-Hop was back in the early 90's.
My Uncle Ice T is really smart he’s a 100 dude Real talk
I never realized how intelligent, and articulate Ice T is. I'm proud to claim him as one of my own.
He knows exactly who he is. That was a good watch. Rappers of today, what on earth are their priorities?!!!
This is a great interview, instantly added to favourites.
I gotta find more now :)
Ice T is very articulate. I wish most rappers today could hold an intelligent conversation like the old cats like Ice T, KRS One, etc.

"man i'm worrying bout where my socks are at" hahaha
but for real, this guy talks the truth big up!
He was just talking about cops who abuse their power cause they feel like it. he was never talking about all cops
I've never been a big fan of rap music, however Ice-T is one of the few artist who has stayed true to his beliefs and has created a very respectful carrier. Ice is totally deep! What he said at 5:43 makes sense.
