  • In this video I review my genuine La-Z-Boy rocker and recliner. My specific model is the Morrison recliner and I also purchased it with a swivel base add on. If you're looking for a detailed break down of what makes a La-Z-Boy recliner one of a kind this video is for you!
    In the video I refer to my recliner as the Gibson recliner by accident and also give the dimensions of the Gibson Recliner.
    The actual dimensions of the Morrison recliner are as follows:
    Body Width - 36.5"
    Body Depth - 38"
    Seat Depth - 20.5"
    I also make reference to the Gabe recliner model as well.

    Gibson or Morrison?

    • @Kaygee79

      Please read the description box under the video. It clarifies it, but it is the Morrison. I read the wrong specs of the chair name and size when I was speaking. I put the correct specs in description box. The remainder of the video is accurate! Thanks for watching and hope this video was helpful to you! :)

    Thanks for sharing your experience. You did a good job. I would have thought the swivel feature would have cost more than a couple hundred, and overall, well above 1000.... Im sure its a little more now 3 yrs later, but still gives me an idea of what I might expect to see on the price tag

    • @Kaygee79
      @Kaygee79  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you found the review helpful! Reasonable price for the swivel feature and in my case worth every penny. I use it all the time! The recliner was more on the budget selection for these types of chairs and they do get a lot more expensive depending on what you're looking for. But even in the more budget selection there is high quality choices! Cheers! :)

    I second what Imran said! This is really thorough, I wouldn't have know all this information (especially that safety feature for the leg rest!) if you hadn't talked about it. 👍👍👍

    • @Kaygee79
      @Kaygee79  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One more thing about the locking feature for the leg rest. It can only be unlocked once the leg rest is in the fully open position. So when opening the leg rest, the first 2 clicks once it locks even the lever will remain locked. You have to get the 3rd click and have the leg rest in fully open position, and only then can you manually release the lever to bring the leg rest back down! Glad you found this video informative, I tried to give a through break down of this recliner because it really is fantastic!

      I am glad you found this video helpful in your search for a recliner. I tried my best to give a lot of information so you can make an informed decision. To this day I enjoy my recliner, it gives a lot of flexibility and for sure that swivel base comes in handy. I use it all the time in my living room to swivel around and talk to someone at the dining table, then swivel back and talk to someone on the couch and swivel to get a good viewing angle on the TV, etc. Thanks for taking the time to drop your comment! Cheers! :)

    I bought a brand new leather and very expensive La z Boy recliner with remote control in Ocala, FL because I was anticipating shoulder surgery. Mine is squeaky right from the start! It squeaks just when I slightly rock with it, and when the reclining mechanism is driven out and in. Do they not lubricate these things when they are being built? La z boy really needs to look at their quality control. Mine was close to $3,000 even on sale!

      Hello Mark. Thanks for taking the time to leave your experience with your La-Z-Boy Recliner. It is always good to get feedback from others who have recliners of their own. I would assume if it is a new recliner if you contact the store they would send someone out to have a look at it and get it straightened out as I'm sure they would want happy customers. If you do get it fixed please come back and let us know how the customer service experience was for you. A platform like this is a great place to share your experiences so others can decide accordingly. My recliner did not have any squeaky issues so I hope they would be able to adjust yours to be the same way.

    • @Kaygee79
      @Kaygee79  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Feet always hang off the end on a recliner. Remember in the seated position your feet touch the floor so when you recline there will be part of your feet that will be off at the end. Watch any other recliner video you will most likely see the same thing. I did try it in the store before I bought it and honestly it feels great. There is no negative feeling from the feet sticking out at the end. It is comfortable and relaxing. I would suggest you go test one out for yourself and see how it feels for you if you're really curious to know. Thanks for watching and for your comment! :)

      Yes there is a loud bang sound when you return the chair to the original position. That is normal for this chair design. They warn you before you buy the chair that this is how the mechanism works. They have not come up with a way to make it silent. If you hear that sound don't worry, the chair is not broken, this is how it is designed. Thanks for watching! :)

    Great review and demonstration! Do you find it stable enough when locked back into a reclined position, as I notice a little bit of 'wobble' (assuming it isn't supposed to rock when the footrest is up). I have a La-Z-Boy that has some slight movement when locked back, so I assume this is normal.

    • @Kaygee79
      @Kaygee79  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for watching and for your comment! It's a great question. So the wobble you're talking about is different then the rocking mechanism. When the chair is down you have a rocking chair motion which does get switched over to the ratchet mechanism once you pull up the leg rest portion. Now in the ratchet mechanism there is also room for movement and that is when you hear that clicking sound. So as you lean back further it slips into deeper and deeper setting so that eventually you're almost laid out like a bed. What it is doing is settling into different grooves and it will hold according to how far back you manually take it. But the movement you're feeling is the chair working within that groove system and not the rocking chair system. But there is movement you are correct about that, it is not rigid and stiff, it's somewhat fluid and mobile. I hope that it clears it up for you but that is normal chair function you are experiencing. It doesn't bother me to be honest. You will get used to it pretty quickly and then it becomes second nature! :)

    • @Kaygee79
      @Kaygee79  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rachel, thanks for watching and for your comment. I'm about 5'10" tall. Also just so you know, the sizes I gave for the chair in the video was for the wrong chair. I put the correct chair size in the description box below the video. The rest of the video was accurate. I love this chair after 6 months. It is just so versatile. I use the swivel base to turn around all the time, the sofa pretty much feels like a big fluffy pillow so I pass out in it all the time. It's very relaxing so after working hard it's nice to be able to lay back and relax in it. The variety of angles you can put the chair in is always fun to play with, it's really amazing. The material I chose is really soft but if there is one thing I'd change, it would be the style of material. It is actually a really nice material in the Winter season, but in Summer time it doesn't breathe as well as other types of cloth material so instead of this microfibre type cloth I would have chosen a more traditional style cloth so it breathes a bit better. But it's not as bad as leather so it still is alright! I would say this has been worth every penny for me. It's like having a rocking chair, a recliner and an extra bed all in one. I'm very happy with the purchase! Hope this helps! :)

    I have several questions. Have you ever fallen asleep in the recliner before ? How fast do you fall asleep on the recliner ?

    • @Kaygee79
      @Kaygee79  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, thanks for watching this review and taking the time to comment! So the easy answer to this question is YES! I have fallen asleep in this recliner and my parents recliner many times. It really is like a bed! Sometimes when I am tired I pass out right away, and sometimes while I'm watching a movie I'll doze off right in the middle and sometimes I just sleep right through the entire night! It is pretty much like falling asleep in a bed. I get a good sleep and when you recline fully back it's almost as flat as a bed. The cushioning is soft and fluffy so it is very comfortable so it can potentially be an extra bed for a guest if they need a spot to crash for a few nights. It really is that good! At least for me! Hope that helps! Cheers! :)

      Would you do it yourself ?

    • @Kaygee79
      @Kaygee79  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kb3mpx Lol, wow, what a unique question! So I had to give this a thought for a few minutes before responding. Ok so these are my thoughts. Is it possible to do this, I would say Yes it can work. But would I do it? Absolutely not! Lol! As much as you can get used to and have comfortable sleeps in a recliner like this, I would never throw out my bed to do so. I would just keep both! Why do you have to throw out the bed if you get a recliner? They both go in different places typically. Recliner in the living room and bed in bedroom. Or are you planning to just put it in the bedroom? That would be a bit weird. Pros of recliner as bed, you can set in in countless different positions and pass out in them. Pro of an actual bed is that you can spread out open and lie flat out in a traditional manner. A bed will always give you more space than a recliner. Recliner will hug you more. That is my thoughts on that question!

    • @kb3mpx
      @kb3mpx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are people who only sleep in recliners because they fall asleep faster on a recliner then they do in a bed. People also like to sleep in a recliner because the rocking motion helps them easily fall asleep. People also like to sleep on a recliner instead of a bed because a recliner can relieve back pain allowing them to fall asleep on a recliner

    • @kb3mpx
      @kb3mpx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kaygee79 I am considering if I would have the recliner in my bedroom or have the recliner next to my bed. I work 3rd shift at my employer. I have problems falling asleep during the day. I would likely sit in the recliner with the foot rest down and have my feet on the floor. I would likely than just lay the recliner's almost completely back while watching tv while rocking at the same time. I would most likely fall asleep right away.
      Have you fallen asleep with the the chair's back reclined and the feet flat on the ground ?
      If you do not mind asking about how old are you ? If you don't want to answer I understand. I am in my late 30's. If you have had the same kind of experience and if you are near my age I am hoping that I would have the same results as you did.

    Just don’t purchase the 5-year extended warranty, it’s a sham! I filed a claim about the sagging seat in my 17 month old Lazy-Boy leather recliner/rocker and because I said it happened over time, the warranty didn’t cover it????!!! They will only cover issues that you report within 30days of it happening. They know the foam wears over time so it’s never going to be covered. I highly suggest that with any problem that occurs, report it happening within that 30 day period. Because I was honest, I got played by the warranty people. I bought this at Wayfair, which will be my last purchase.

      Thanks so much for leaving your testimonial. Learning the details of how the warranty works is important. I am not a fan of them not covering the 5 year plan fully. It is not a good look and places like this video where things can be put out in the open is important. Personally if it is a 5 year warranty I think they should fix it but I don't work for them so this is only my thoughts. Other people who read this can make their own judgement call. Once again thanks for taking the time to let us know! Cheers!
