I love you clear explanations on your EVOL. I have the pleasure of owning my own EVOL 30. I love I and it's made as solid as a rock... This is an excellent, well-made rifle. Im going on 2 years of owning my .30 and I have not had 1 problem. It's worth the money...
I absolutely love my Evol, it's .22 15 inch barrel and I set the reg to 2300psi, I shoot 20.2 NSA @ 930 just as accurate as pellets with all the advantages a slug offers .216 size only for slugs. it's a phenomenal pellet shooter the most versatile gun I have. Size with slugs is everything and in the .22 caliber, there are a lot more diameter options, all my guns shoot .216 best, even .2165 the groups open up. But you also need a specific reg pressure for a specific velocity, too much excess air will cause slugs to get messed up from the start, pellets are far less picky like you say. Without a custom resizer, or maybe they make .30 resizers. I don't know, but I think it's a crap shoot and people are completely at the mercy of the slug manufacturer for specific sizing, NSA seems to cater to the .22 caliber with many size offerings. My Evol tuned to 38-39 FPE is a competent 100 yard gun and 150 yards is easily in it's reach and up to the shooter, the NSA 20.2 has a BC of .075 so know the limitations and expectations. I'm glad to start seeing more content on this gun, I personally think Tom is more than capable of making a resizer to figure out what the gun needs for slugs to work in any of his offerings, I think that would be a great avenue to get these amazing guns out kicking ass with slugs, it's not the guns fault. Just my 2 cents on the 15inch Carbine.
I recently picked up a mint EVOL 30 that I was told was at stock tune from the factory. When you said you were at 907 ft/sec with the JSB 44gr I was surprised because with the same JSB 44.75 I am at 914 ft/sec with spread of 2 and an SD of 0.9. Maybe Tom was setting the older guns reg's at higher pressure in the past? Anyway, I don't want to mess with the tune considering the consistency. I am searching for a slug that works at that tune. I have tried 4 different NSA slugs and they do not group. They require quite of bit of pressure to seat, I'm not sure if that's part of the problem. I have also tried Zan, JSB Knock Outs, FX Hybrids and 3 different AVS Slugs. The F Hybrids are pretty good and so are the Knock Outs but still do not group as tight as the JSB 44.75 pellets. I originally ordered the 3 AVS slugs with a .3003 diameter. I have 3 different weights that I just ordered from AVS I should receive this weekend that are .3013 diameter. AVS says the secret is getting a diameter that suits your barrel. Hopefully this diameter is better. I will let you know-
Your 914 fps average with the 44.75 pellets isn't gonna be enough power for the slugs. I've had good success using the 60 grain .3003 dish based AVS slugs in my FX impact @ 925 fps, but that same tune pushes a 44.75 pellet over 1040fps
The subject of pellets and slugs is complicated. It would be nice to see a 22 caliber, compared to a 25 caliber, shooting pellets and slugs. Accuracy is one thing but if you’re hunting larger game at 100 yards a slug is going to have more energy and cause more damage if for example you’re shooting a hog or any larger animal. It’s been proven that at over 100 yards slugs shoot straighter. It would be interesting to see you do some test comparing penetration/energy on a deer leg over 100 yards and also calculating the energy compared to a pellet.
@pepi_gets_it_done1861 yea I checked the website after seeing your beatiful scope and now I know why I liked it so much there 2000 and up in price, but they are sweet just to much for me.
I'm the same. I shoot pellets in 3 of my air guns and slugs in 1 of my air guns I only have 4 air guns thanks for sharing bsafe buddy 👍

I have come to a similar conclusion. I even went so far as to buy a mold to make my own pellets for my .50 Challenger.
Pleasure meeting you at eft!!
Wow! What a location
Sick bipod! Just splurged on one last night at UA😬

All great points, I will share with Tom and see what he thinks. Again, thanks for sharing.

Tom tends to tune the 30 cals to shoot 44grs at ~860fps. You can try 50gr and 56gr pellets as well.

Best Airgun on the Market imo. Where can we buy the "American Air Arms" shirts and hats?
I’m trying to convince Tom to make them available for the public
Are you shittin me with that bipod lol
LoL I’ve gotten that a few times now lol. Guess I should get a different color one
@@pepi_gets_it_done1861 Its funny but you definitely can't beat an accutac.
What kind of scope is that.
Its a Valdala G2 mini. Fantastic optics!
