That seems specific. And she has been pretty right about all of Colleen's kids. But generally I feel the same about psychics and whatnot

How about instead of lowering the drinking age we stop recruiting students who are not even out of high school to fight for their country? I get that we can vote at 18, but I would say many young people are more politically informed than older people. Plus, it’s our futures that officials are making decisions for. Drinking is different. Adolescents can make decisions that are allowed time and consultation with others and/or resources probably just as well as adults. They cannot, however, make split second judgement calls or think about the affect reckless behavior will have on their futures. Cold cognition is involved with voting as well as making medical or educational decisions (hence HIPAA and FERPA excluding guardians at age 18). Hot cognition is what is involved with drinking and drug usage. Cold cognition is when reasoning and time are allowed. Hot cognition is making decisions solely based on emotions and impulse. That part of the brain (frontal cortex) is not developed until 25.

I love Rachel's podcasts and I love the discussions in this podcast about women putting themselves first. However I feel that saying flat out that "Men are discussing" and "Men are the worst" is not productive. I just don't think that flipping sexism onto men is going to solve sexism toward women. I am open to listening to others opinions around this subject though. Again, I love Rachel. She has helped me so much as I have slowly come out to my loved ones but I just wanted to say that. ❤️

Racheal your throwing up to the strobe lights is a seizure activity do u have seizures ever be careful with that it happens to me with the big lights in the malls and stores if I’m there to long and the doctor told me it’s a seizure activity. I look so forward to ur podcast each week .
I’ve always had a similar thing with my parents that I didn’t want to do anything “bad” because I was scared of them finding out. I’m 23 and I still have not taken a sip of alcohol because I live with them still due to medical reasons. Plus they are super homophobic and that kind of stuff so they are extra strict.

I agree that it’s dumb to not be able to drink until 21 in the US. I live in the UK where we can legally drink from 18. I’m gonna be 21 in March and I’ve always said to myself that I wouldn’t come to the US until I’m 21 so that I can drink 😂 There are still people who drink from 13 in the UK but there would be anywhere I think. Your point about being able to do literally everything… drive, enrol in armed services, vote etc… and you can’t legally drink? That’s so crazy to me! You can learn to drive from 16, but can’t legally drink until 5 years later… like wtf????!!!!

The only problem with "if they wanted to they would" is the ableism when it comes to things like mental health and resource availability. If they want to and have the resources/ability then they will, yes. We just need to be sure to have grace and patience for these things at times. There are certainly things that I have wanted to do with everything inside me, but have been unable to do for whatever reason (financial tightness, executive disfunction, physical inculpabilities, etc.) but the people in my life had grace at those times and knew the truth of my efforts. Just something to keep in mind when saying that phrase.

As someone who did serve in the military I thought that we should’ve been able to drink legally too. I never drank underage but still us women and men are serving the country with our lives so why can’t we drink
18 is the legal age in alberta Canada but most of the country is 19
