Wood Chipper Flywheel Balancing Video

  • This video shows how I set the wood chipper flywheel shaft up on 4 small ball bearings attached to two short pieces of angle iron initially to check it for being out of balance. The flywheel was a bit heavy at one of the slots so I added a few beads of weld above the chipper blade support area of the opposite slot to correct the problem. Then I installed the two fan blades (which also act as counter balances at 90° to the slots) to make sure it stayed in balance and then finally the two chipper blades were installed.     Looks very good, Don't know what size material you aim to process with this. But the axle looks a little weak in my humble opinion.

      The concept has been used for many years balancing large truck tires and for my purpose worked quite nicely as there is no noticeable vibration in the unit.
      Please explain why you stated "doesn't work"?

    OMG how is this video 8 mins long. You don't show any of the interesting stuff just 8 mins spinning a wheel.
