They do the movie and they then have to do the press, but every interviewer goes full nerd and starts asking them things they don't know or care about because it's ridiculous. But they can't not answer so they give the most broadest answers that don't satisfy their nerd needs. I believe Tom Hardy wanted to do this movie and presumably loves Venom, but I don't think he cares at all about him fighting the Avengers or talking about things that aren't in the movie.

i find the concept of venom having his own personal moral compass to be a cool defining trait, he dosn’t just eat anybody and kill at random, he has morals of those who are “pure” and those who “corrupt”, Venom and Eddie Brock aren’t just about “when am i hungry”, however, they have been making it sorta clear that they will include the aspect of “anti-hero” rather then straight up making him look like a mindless “villain” for the sake of being cool. ..im a bit split on whether i think if they’ll just try to cash in on the cool monstrous/villainous factor, or if they’ll succeed in making a good portait of this iconic anti-hero that has more depth that most common fans would think. (especially sense they don’t have access to that peter parker/spiderman origin of the symbiote) im leaning towards them succeeding and being competent to tell a story that stands in its own.(and isn’t too busy hyping up the “next big thing”)
