Not only a wonderful mastery of the instrument is at work, here a bright, beautiful and powerfully REVERENT spirit comes from this splendid young player. I attended this concert last year and had a wonderful afternoon. Thank you for posting Part 2. I have just enjoyed an equally enjoyable evening reliving the concert once again. Every good wish for a successful and happy year.
It was just brilliant. I travelled from Northern Ireland just to hear him live.
Wat ontzettend mooi om dit te luisteren. Vooral van John Propitius. Echt geweldig dat je ook zijn liederen speelt.
Idd. Zo fijn dat Gert zo breed georiënteerd is. Dat zou veel meer navolging mogen krijgen. Hij speelt literaire werken van wereld beroemde componisten en van onze Hollandse koraalkunst bewerkingen. Er zijn organisten die spelen enkel Hollandse koraalmuziek en komen niet verder. En andersom. Klaas Jan Mulder en Feike Asma waren ook organisten die verder keken en luisterden.

I like this Swan Lake most of all Gert's orchestral music renditions.
I agree Sheldon. Not all orchestral scores readily transcribe to the organ, and Tchaikovsky is a challenge. Although Gert has played T before, I thought this rendition flowed more easily and naturally and sounded 'just right', which is usually an indication of skill and talent.

I'm not an expert but I'd also guess it wouldn't be possible on mechanical organs even if they had this many registers bc their stops have to be handled manually, which would require way too many swift hands in this piece :).

@@jasek911 Het zal je ook wel opgevallen zijn dat de zwel pedalen erg weinig werk hebben bij de manier van spelen van Gert, Gert zwelt op en af via registers er bij of van af, Geweldig!
Sommige organisten zie je het zwel pedaal bewerken als of ze er lucht bij moeten pompen!
I too have been anxious to see Part 2 of the Concert as I love watching the two of you working together with such wonderful selections of music both specifically for the organ and arrangements. It is real delight to be able to see what is going on as well as to hear such a talented organist. You just made my day, Thank you and come back to England soon!

hi Phillip we travelled from manchester and all i can say i dont know where you live but one day make the effort if you can,,,,it was the most sensational experience i have ever encountered...the atmoshere was electric....you could box it up and take it home with you...and i had the added pleasure of speaking to them both after the recital ...the man is a genius and a gentleman who greets his fans at the end ...regards paul

I'm compelled to comment! Love it! What talent you have. What singles you out from other great organ talents is your willingness and ability to express the breadth of what you feel inside as you play the music . This is what transports your performances into the stratosphere. I used to play the organ in church, but never developed further, unfortunately. Yet I seem to feel what you feel as you play and much of the time am in sync with the way you express yourself. And it's just such a marvelous and moving experience. I just found you today and immediately subscribed. I've already listened to a couple of hours now and am looking forward to many more hours of such bliss. I first posted this comment on your 01/21/16 "Trip to Geraardsbergen" not only because of your ability to fully express your feelings through music but also because of your talent for improvisation , both of which are also on display in your 2013 "Conquest of Paradise" and other earlier videos. I must also mention your talent to use the right stops that beautifully and effectively express the tonal qualities of each organ you play. Thank you Gert for being you. Never hold back what you feel inside as you play. That will be the key to your future.
Gert, you've just set the bar for Tchaikovsky organ transcriptions. That's the longest and most natural sounding piece of T I've heard on the organ, displaying great musicianship and effort - congratulations. Although I wasn't there, I've a feeling there's still a final part as your concerts don't usually end so abruptly.
william evans i was a bit surprised that Gert plays John Propitius in (I guess) your country. I never heard Gert plays John earlier. Let make an agreement. We both will ask for a ‘Propitius’ when the encore request will come during his live TH-cam concert;-)
William, I think I remember there is a technical problem to do with the Victoria Hall video system for their screen projectors. The camera settings might not work easily with TH-cam.
His magnificent touch brings me to tears.

Heb net genoten van Lang Lang met zijn vertolking van Liebeslied S 566 van Franz Liszt (Schumann : Widmung ).
Maar voor mij is duidelijk, wat Lang Lang is op de Steinway, is Gert op het orgel.
Beiden zijn van zeer grote klasse en geweldig om naar te luisteren!
