Yeah, I'm a Swede but the part of the country I live in used to be Danish, and I'm one of those people that understand that feeling pride for anything you're not involved in is irrational, and yet I do feel a sense of pride when hearing some of these songs (I mean, Lejonet Från Norden makes me pump my fist and thump my chest :) ), though I also feel a great sadness due to the massive loss of life and because, well, war is hell. One thing I love about how they write songs is they don't shy away from saying things good or bad about this, they just tell you the story straight up, like when they talk about how the Caroleans lost their honor when they in revenge slaughtered the surrendering Russian forces. The fact they did that song is enough for me to respect their integrity. Awesome stuff! Glad I'll be seeing them live for the first time in 12 days! \o/

My dear Lord, the emotion! Especially in the chorus. Ruina Imperii carved its way quickly up to my top 5 Sabaton songs! There have been moments when I haven't gotten enough of this masterpiece, and I have just kept on listening it 3 or more times back to back, which is very rare for me.

Been following Sabaton between 2 and 3 years now. Best discovery ever made, they became my favourite band of all time really quickly and have had a lot of different favourite songs by them over time.
This song is my current favourite and after falling in love with it about 1 month and a bit ago, It inspired me to learn Swedish. I know very little right now but I am learning and hopefully one day soon I can understand every word as it is sung off by heart. A beautiful song and altogether a beautiful language.

I love this song so much!! 😍 A pleasant issue with Sabaton songs is that it's impossible to pick just one favourite song (especially from this album). This must have been a very difficult song to write. How do you write the stepping off of your nation from the world stage as a Great Power? It speaks to the grace and skill of Sabaton to pull this off.
They also wrote about the battle of Poltava, which firmly ended Sweden's expansion east. They wrote about Fruastadht, the battle that showed the mercilessness of the Swedish Army, 1648 is about Sweden trying to sack Prag even though they knew that the war was over, not a great picture of the Swedish Army none of it.
I'm waiting for a song about the battle of Narva 1700 where Sweden won in a battle with the Russians, the march over Stora Bält 1658 beating the Danes and ending the conflictand with Sweden gaining Skåne, 1676 The Battle of Lund where Danes tried to take Skåne back but in the bloodiest battle in Sweden's history Sweden kicked their ass. 1790 Battle of Svensksund, Swedish win over Russia's navy. All glorious things in Swedish military history.

I was on a scouts patrol leader course and got the information in the night of the day when i was supposed to come back to home and see him. I only saw him already dead. It's a remarkable beauty to bare witness Sabaton explaining and singing about a fierce event that occured years and years ago within the history of their country's army! Many respects to the Swedish Army and the country of Sweden from the United States!
