    That sound and vibrations. Brings back memories of my first car, a Triumph Herald. 😊

    Brake line tool looks like it will pay for itself very quickly. Especially in time and peace of mind/confidence that the brakes will work effectively.

    Clap Clap!! Another wonderful lesson on how to be patient while diagnostic testing the initial run. Thank you for teaching me. Normally I would have cussed my way through the endeavor.

    Well done Elin, such a contrast to one of my old IT departments that did upgrades to your laptop without checking they worked before giving it back to you!

    Wow night and day between the two test drives. I'm sure you will figure out all the little issues. it was funny to watch the speedo go to ludicrous speed while you were going down the road. Another big milestone...almost finished

    Good little finishing jobs done today Elin, it must be so nice for the owner to actually see the refurbishment coming together so nicely. You and Rusty also did a good temporary bleed on the brakes ok! 😁

    Sounds good on that last drive. Hopefully these little hiccups are truly just little ones!

    Elin, you are a brave soul to be out test driving while the fuel gauge is on E! lol
    That oil coating the rocker cover is very worrying to me; especially since the vent tube is open to atmosphere.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I ran it out if gas wile warming it up and I emptied my jug in it just before I went out, so I knew exactly how much gas I had :) I fixed the oil leak already, well not really fixed it as There was nothing wrong… You will see :)

    Elin, are you sure that the rockercover vent is not blocked????? if I remember correct you were supposed to use the clucth when engageing /disengage the overdrive???? Keep them coming!!!

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the vent is not blocked. The problem was… hmm you will see in the next video:)
      You don’t need to press the clutch. Some people do, to avoid the “hit” when it engages, but that hit is absolutely normal. It is just like when your automatic transmission switches gears

    Center the steering wheel also, what rear axle ratio is on the car it will make a difference as to the speedo

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I had the steering wheel out because of all the work I did under the dash and then just eyeballed and t for the test drive. Of course it will be centred before we are done.
      Not sure what ratio the diff has but I am pretty sure it is the original to the car as well as the speedo. So they should work well together. I took the speedo apart and found an internal issue with it. You will see in the next episode

  • @philtucker1224
    @philtucker1224 ปีที่แล้ว

    Elin, is it possible that the oil gallery that feeds the rockers is squirting up against the rocker box cover? And why don’t the copper/ fibre washers stop it leaking out? (Very strange problem)..🤔?

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว

      I dealt with it already. It was a user error :)

    My Austin Healey brake lines are bubble flare. I thought most english sports cares were Bubble Flare? But Triumph is double flare?

    • @redfoxclassics

    I'm interested in what you find wrong with the speedo. I think you have two issues but we'll see when you get to do it. Please don't just tell me that it's fixed.
    I had one that would wobble and it turned out to be a bent cable tip which couldn't be straightened so as a last resort I had to solder to keep it straight. Yours is not that problem as it looked steady when working. What is wrong with the internals for it jump like that. What has come loose???

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it is not fixed, but I know what is wrong with it. None if the above :) It is too delicate fir me though. i can’t fix it, I gave up

    Think the previous pipe was too long, mine is at the back of the axle.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe it was replaced already, judging by the bad flare, but I didn’t know and just copied it. It doesn’t really matter, it is important it won’t leak again in the next 100 years :)

    I'd have said that was pretty good test considering the extensive work that you've done and the issues the car had when it came into your workshop. I'm perplexed by the oil leaking from the rocker cover.. Never came across that one.. As for the solenoid, I wouldn't rule out a faulty unit.. I recently fitted a new replacement reverse light switch (Lucas) to my old jalopy only to find it was a faulty new unit.. I blasphemed badly, but I wont transcribe it here and get a strike for your channel 😅...

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fixed the leak and the solenoid already. Both were a user error LOL. One if these users was me :)

    Looking better. She sounded great after the timing advance. With all of the oil coming out at the rear valve cover areas, is the screw for the rocker shaft loose?

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the screw is fine. It was a user error :)

    Whats wrong with the speedometer, the needle was flicking all over the place. Still, good content Elin!

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it is one of the bugs that I need to reaolve

  • @redfoxclassics
    @redfoxclassics ปีที่แล้ว

    The fact that the speedo needle is going way past the max speed indicated and generally behaving really erratically makes me suspect a broken return spring in the instrument :( When you reversed it managed to wind itself back to zero which adds to that suspicion.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I took it apart and found the problem. It is a very simple issue but I can’t fix it. Too delicate for me :) you will see in the next episode

    Cut the brake line right at the fittings and then put a six point socket on the fittings.You retain your line shape and close to the length.Your fittings don't get rounded and you save a ton of time.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  ปีที่แล้ว

      Those fittings were bad to begin with. I wasn’t gonna reuse them anyway.

    I thought the hydraulic leak was a “Rusty leak” sorry, Rusty
