For those curious because I kinda figured this out the more I saw it happen: Every reset is made specifically to skip cutscenes, this is for every time a new character shows up, their introduction minigame and cutscene, and their post stage cutscene for when you beat the boss fight. As the moment these occur, it sets a flag in the game that allows you to skip it on a restart which is miles faster than just watching it all.
There's actually a TAS category where instead of just playing through a game, you also "playaround" with it while playing through. There's a rather famous Super Scribblenauts run like this. Maybe this would qualify? By the way, the level 3 bosses of this game can suck it. They go on until the heat death of the universe, I swear
This is probably the most entertaining speedrun I've ever watched lol I know every single mini game... but I never knew what you were up to :) Seems really authentic the way it was playing around in some games where you have to wait until the end anyway :D
if you cant gain any frames you can edge them i guess technical answer: some minigames dont end as soon as you do them, you have to wait until the timer runs out in order for it to count
The TAS does do time savings, you can only save time on microgames that have double the normal time limit by clearing or failing them before half the time has expired (which is why some microgames are intentionally failed, or the TAS stops playing around before the bomb timer shows up)
10:29 the power calligraphy is crazy
vinfel
i can hear the grunt sound from it…
Rhythm heaven sleeper agent activation
what rhythm heavrn reference is that?
@@intelligent1964 power calligraphy
I love how the TAS does the speed run legitimately while also doing its own thing.
Especially when it thinks it's on rhythm heaven
this MIGHT be miles morales

23:03 "You're a machine!"
IT KNOWS😮
9:24 Mmm... Ketchup rectangle 😋
I love how this turned the very methods of 'do a thing fast' into a comedic artform. Wah.
13:35 I am reminded of Grayfruit’s retort from his playthrough of _Move It!_ that Ashley is a _Touhou_ character. Maybe he was right.
CONGRATULATIONS! This TAS has been accepted and is now visible on the TAS Videos channel.
10:29 I see that rhythm heaven reference.
This game came out before any Rhythm Heaven.

They mean the way the TAS does it, akin to Power Caligraphy.

Yeah, I realized after commenting, that's my bad.
i like how half the video is resets
You should see the Wario Land 4 speedruns.

That one was still a speedrun, just doing things very slightly slower for more entertaining results.
Yes, TAS can also stand for "Tool Assisted Superplay"

The best part about the TAS is we can tell you had a ton of fun making it.
Awesome video!! I remember playing the mic stages as a kid in the car and the game just beating itself
hey nice tas! i was sad when it ended, you did a great job making each minigame entertaining
true Rhythm Heaven TAS
These animations of how you win the microgames using TAS are so satisfying to watch.
I saw someone talk about the Ashley boss of this tas on twitter

@@stratodough What about it? Good dodging or shooting? Seems like a nothingburger to me.

Didnt know of this til today LMAO, good work!
I used to have the world record human speedrun for this game until actually good speedrunners picked it up, lmao
wait holy shit you're still around?? whats up man

This is so beast
what do all the multiple resets accomplish? I mean, there wasn't even a menu, just watch the intro then reset again
it skips basically every intro and outro cutscene, as well as whenever new characters/toys are unlocked
10:29 Epic reference
2:27 how i be at the urinal
Are you submitting this to TASVideos? Maybe it's worth a shot.
probably
the submission process is time-comsuming
Nice Results with this TAS. But I'm not sure about Noxxa though...
Aren't there small time savings if you complete minigames before the timer finishes? Is this more of a stylish speedrun than a fast speedrun?
