- Ladies heading off to Burning Man have a few more things to worry about than men. The alkaline playa dust can mess with the delicate ph balance of our lady parts causing yeast infections or UTIs, there's the horrors of the port-a-loos, trying to keep your body hair under control (unless you're going au naturelle) , what to do about your lovely long locks so you don't have to snip them off when you get back, not destroying your nails...so here's a round up of tips to help keep your hair and body in decent condition while you're out there.

Bringing a box of extra tampons is a great gift for people! Most people forget them.
Forgetting tampons is a potential nightmare!
yes!!! I wasn't supposed to start anywhere close, and the 2nd day on the playa, I started. I didn't have any tampons, but I was lucky enough that someone gifted me a whole box! It was seriously the best playa gift I've ever received!
Men can use tampons to don't be sexist AM I RIGHT?

I've never even heard of burning man before q few days ago. I came on TH-cam from a link from a search i did. I just wanted to say I've watched numerous videos that have really made we want to attend but you have been the most helpful upfront person I've watched. Thank you for doing these & covering the ladies for things most of us wouldn't have thought about like UTIs & other "lady issues". You are wonderful & I'm glad i came across your videos & hope to be able to say Hello @ an upcoming Burning Man! Thanks again
I was at bm last year and your videos were super helpful but there's a better solution for periods I experienced myself: menstrual cup. No trash, no bloody things to bring with you, no need to worry often about it, just need to be empty twice a day. I started using it at bm and never stopped it.
thx for the comment! I am a huge fan of it, but sometimes it's leaking. How did you solve it there? Normally I wear menstrual panties, but it doesn't sound good to BM as you need to wash it as soon as you can.

Thank you for the cuticle tips. While I don't have plans for Burning Man anytime soon, I do bike trips and dusty bike trails also reek havoc.

i always bring cranberry pills, its great for UTIs and cleansing the kidneys! Thank you for all the videos! you are the female Halcyon and I dig it!
Thanks so much! I've been chugging away on cranberry juice in preparation, I should probably go get some pills instead as it'd be much easier.
Try adding d-mannose. I am prone to UTIs and was taking 1000mg cranberry supplements for years. I tried a mix with d-mannose and cranberry. BAM! Now I’m d-mannose only and almost never get a UTI.

In our recreation center, there is a sign that says that with a variation: "If you sprinkle when you tinkle, be sweet and wipe the seat."

thanks for posting this, I too, have a lot of hygiene tips. Think of it before you get there. Youd be surpised what items you can tuck in your boots for keeping clean. Do it.Please.

I've watched 3 long videos of yours on burning man and am wondering where the fun parts come in. Sounds like a nightmare!
BM ain't all fun and games; it takes a lot of work and consideration to literally build and maintain a self-contained city in the middle of nowhere. There are vids on how to get things done, and there are vids on having fun. And then there are those of us who find getting things done fun.
I'll confess I only watched 1.5 of her videos and I totally agree with you. It sounds like you're locked in a prison that might be difficult to leave. Imagine being a mile from anyone's camp, urinating in a vacant part of the desert only to discover someone was watching you with their long distance lens to get you busted.

not sure if this has been mentioned...but if you have a tendency toward UTIs...DRINK two or three times as much WATER as you think you need, and avoid alcohol and sugars...I know it doesn't sound like much fun to stay sober and pee all the time, but it beats getting a UTI.
Toilet seat covers and lots of cleansing wipes are crucial. I don't know if this is for me, I love my showers!
I plan to go to burning man someone after I turn 21, which won’t be for awhile now, but it’s never to early to start preparing

There is no getting over it. You will be jittery, nervous, and apprehensive until you get there. But hopefully once you get there, you will realize it's not as intimidating as it seems.
Hey WestmoreAFK4Cosplay there'll be a video going up tonight about first timer nerves, it was such a good question I thought it deserved a video all of it's own.
I think that if you're nervous it's probably a sign that you're really well prepared! It's usually the people that haven't done any reading up or prepping that aren't nervous because they don't know what they're getting themselves into. I bet you'll end up being one of the better prepared first timers out there :)
If you forget something someone else will probably have it or be able to help you out (or if worst comes to worst you could grab a reentry pass and head back to go and get anything you need if you're coming in your own car). If you struggle getting everything setup chances are someone will be able to help you out, loads of people out there have setup tonnes of times and they'll know what to do. Chances are you will forget something, but chances are it won't be something that'll be too important. And with what to expect...having no expectations is the best way to go into it (although probably an almost impossible thing to actually manage!).

For aunt flo, best thing I ever did was swap to a menstrual cup. Easy to clean with your camel back hose and requires no waste. Was super awesome for periods at the burn.

When the PH of the vagina is off you might get infected down there. Symptoms are discharge having the consistence of cottage cheese and feeling itchy, stuff like that. It's usually easy to treat but it's best to go see a gynecologist to make sure you're not misdiagnosing yourself and really got rid of it after you finish treatment. It's not a big deal in most cases

How many people actually respect the porter potty? I've heard of horror stories.
The portos really do get serviced frequently, including being hosed down inside. Between that and people 'acting right' you'd be surprised at how clean they can stay. At regional burns dirty portos are actually rare. Porto etiquette is a BIG deal and people push really hard for folks to act right so it doesn't have to be a nightmare.
Ruby Colvin, have you been to BM? Please cite your sources on these gang rapes and missing persons. That's a really big deal and people should know more about it.
Just take a trip to India and you will know why pooping on the ground is Not allowed.

YES! Honestly, every woman should at least try a diva cup - it would cut down on so much period waste. They are so easy to use and don't leak like tampons or pads. Diva Cups (and other such cups) are wonderful!

I was thinking this too. Maybe bring pairs of latex (or other) gloves to put on when emptying the cup? And a water bottle for rinsing it in the portos?
I was about to say the same thing! Ohhh my word. Cheaper, easier, safer, more reliable, better for the environment...just take a cycle or two to get used to it.
@@panteremilyep I hike, I know some women rinse it if possible or use a disposable wipe to clean it... I feel like it's a little icky but no more than tampons.

You will find a lot of women there but I doubt you find a lady
