Worked remotely for a global corporation for years receiving accolades, raises, bonuses, etc. New ‘try-hard’ manager insisted that we come in even though he was remote from a different city. It is just a power struggle and mostly ppl who are older who prefer work in office over remote. It’s the same as using paper. I am flabbergasted anytime I go into a company that still saves things on paper or still needs to use a printer. Who even prints things nowadays? Exactly. After 2 years and a half of remote work and great productivity my manager decided we should go back to the office. This implies 3 hours time spend in total on the road to get to the office and to come back , a lot of money spent on the transport , noise in the office where it was my first day there and my least productive day as I was not able to concentrate and time lost cause the internet was not functioning all the time , got home late and exhausted and all I accomplished today was to do nothing well and to be pissed and tired. Other colleagues either quit already or they are planning to do it .
Add those 3 hours to hours worked and ask for corresponding raise. If they say no just explain to them that those 3 hours cost you money and tell them based on this how low salary fully remote work would need to offer to actually match their offer. Maybe then they will realize. If you work 8 hours a day and 3 hours is driving to work its like getting 37% pay cut. Then I catch the 4:15pm bus (signed off 20 min early) so I won’t miss my bus since next one comes in an hour. Got home 4:45pm, that’s another 55 min in commute. So almost two hours lost when I could be attending to my loans!

my company wants to bring us back to the office later this year. i need four screens to juggle the work i have to do, but we're being told that the company can only provide us with two in the office. so that will make my job harder and my production will drop.
Working from home saves most folks hours in their day from having to commute. Not only this, but the savings in wear-n-tear, gasoline expenses, and opportunity costs are a huge reason why we shouldnt return to the old 40 hour work week (ie 60 hour work week with time commuting) . We have a real opportunity here to better our lives and our work-life balance that companies claim they are so concerned about. And we have a great opportunity to fix some of the causes of climate change by drastically reducing the fuel consumption of having so many folks drive to/from work everyday! The corporate real estate lobby and proponents of the 20th Century economic model would have us believe that working from the office is better - is best. I call BS. There is yet another angle to this that should be considered: Businesses could save tons of money by reducing their rent and PPE expenses if they embraced the work from home model instead. There will be growing pains, but it will be a better world if we can make this adjustment to our work lives. Cities cannot / should not continue to grow like they have in the past; we need more green space, fewer people on the roads, more time for life, and better air quality/water quality. All this will be a result of us adjusting to working from home more often.
Imagine New York with better quality air and less traffic for those who need to work at their location such as doctors, teachers and medical professional. Not to mention if there's a fire or medical emergency, less traffic for them to get where they need to be, I say remote work should be definitely considered, or at least given an option for those who jobs can be worked from home, believe it or not some people like working in office, but I definitely think people should get a choice of completely remote, hybrid or work completely in office, hybrid workers could choose how many days they want to be in office and what days they want to be there or the company can choose, and if they don't want to pay for equipment, let that be a stipulation to work from home you will have to pay for your own equipment ...eliminating the commute and child care cost alone would help workers pay for their equipment. If companies don't trust information at the house, random checks could be made
And then there's the oil companies. On April 20, 2020, the price of oil closed at $-37/barrel -- it went to zero and kept going! (Yes, that was when it really happened. Look it up.) Everyone who could work from home was, and the result was a catastrophic drop in demand for gas. They want people to commute and, therefore, buy more gas. So they've also got a stake in getting people back to the office.
This revolves around real-estate and driving more sales- gas, clothes, food, car maintenance ect.... master requiring their workers to travel buy and spend.
Some people can work remotely and remain productive and effective. Remember 20% of the work force does 80% of the work. Most people are lazy and unmotivated.
I am not sure why some policy do not make any meanings such as: everyone talks about "green new deal" and "people to return to work-office" but there is a problem. Keep people off roads and that will save and make a very well meaning about "green new deal" . Less people on the road to work, less polution. In the office the same is the same, more people are in one place more heat is generated...My opinion everyone who works in a computer 8 hours a day should work from home if they have internet and computer. What people aren’t understanding is that if the remote work continues ultimately your job is at risk cause now you arent only competing with your local market but with the whole world; meaning, your salary will sooner or later be brought into question cause why pay a person in DC or NYC when the company can hire some guy for half in Alabama, or for a tenth hire someone in Mexico or Argentina? Its fine for this guy whose business model thrives of that, but in time it spells further outsourcing in many fields. Its a very dangerous play for Americans, especially for those that live in metropolitan cities. Not to mention the countless industries that also suffer like: local restaurants, public transportation, local real estate markets… the list goes on and on. It ultimately not only hinders your local economy but you as well when there are less services and your local labor markets take a huge hit; ultimately you pay for those by way of unemployment and subsidies. Again, its not an issue that is so black n white, but should be discussed from all angles acknowledging the pros and cons. I dislike having to go back to the office, but understand that its better in the long run for my field (architecture) for all the reasons I’ve outlined. Its not a comfortable thing to return to with the commute but it’s necessary if you dont want to have half of your team in the future from another country when you can give that job to an American citizen. Hybrid. The only way moving forward. Every job I applied to when I was looking, 85% 3x week in office , some 2x. There were some full on-site but I never bothered applying to those…This is in the Bay Area.
Just because weve done something for a couple years doesn't mean we should keep doing what has failed this country and the world for those couple years, its great if all you do is email and call folks for a living, what about all the supplies and things we should be making and cant if people dont go back to work. Remote work is only somewhat better for organizations... But, it is not that much best for employees to expand their contacts and explore more things. Only face to face interaction will create more friendly conversations and explore more... Remote work is not a permanent solution i think.... Organizations and employees must want to against the remote work policies means, it will be fine... Nope, cannot get anything done with 10-15 people around talking on phone, discussing vacations, etc. I can go to a restaurant if I want a place “full of other people”.
Work from office is much more better than work from home.. In work from office, we can explore more and more things, we can learn or to gain knowledge apart from the subject or department where we are working.. Work from office has lot of benefits than work from home.. But, most of the employees refusing to work in office. Because, they want work from home. Work from home is only used to make employees to work in a comfort zone.. That's all. It has not any benefit. If an employee come to office and work means, they can able to built lots and lots of new conversations with their fellow employees to gain knowledge. In work from home, we can talk in teams with some of our team members. It is not that much useful to explore and gain knowledge to learn. Each and every employee want to work in the office environment means, it will be a new experience for each employees.

Its not a comfortable thing to return to with the commute but it’s necessary if you dont want to have half of your team in the future from another country when you can give that job to an American citizen. Sounds silly, but its crucial.
fear, fear, and more fear. you've lost, many of us are working remote and never going back. the points about industries that suffer is hilarious.
Hybrid. The only way moving forward. Every job I applied to when I was looking, 85% 3x week in office , some 2x. There were some full on-site but I never bothered applying to those…This is in the Bay Area.
prison planet earth.
Companies that decide to outsource will outsource regardless
Just because weve done something for a couple years doesn't mean we should keep doing what has failed this country and the world for those couple years, its great if all you do is email and call folks for a living, what about all the supplies and things we should be making and cant if people dont go back to work. If the engineer cant see what's actually happening then they become just another level of pay without earning
an enginner in the office doesnt actually see anything happening.
@@DaviRBify I build what the engineer designed but if parts dont actually work the way he or she described then they come and make the choice on how I can make it accomplish the task and still meet the requirements. If they weren't there this process would take much longer and waste valuable time that could be spent making more things that are useful
@Bryan Novy I'm an engineer and we send our designs to fabrication companies near the build site so even if there was a question on the design we are not near by to simply drop in.
Well most of my work I can only see through a web page or remote desktop as it is running in some cloud environment. Most people I work with nowadays only go to some office once a week. It is nice to meet people in person, and you can combine it with a high quality lunch or other fun thing.
There is no one against work from home. If they want to work in home means, there is no problem.6 months work from home and six months work from office means, it will be best for all employees in all organizations or companies...organizations must want to ban or stop allowing
Life long work from home for all employees. This is not a healthier thing or this is not a good things for employees to have a healthier lifestyle.
Yes there are. Big boss, many CEOs, they are against it. There are CEOs who work remotely that require their employees to return to the office.
Ha Ha! Why do you talk in person, not remotely? You should have recorded this video via Teams or Zoom or Webex. Ha Ha Ha!
👍🇺🇸
Most top CEO's want people back to the office. Collaboration, creativity and productivity just are better when people work together in one environment. If your company chooses in office work, either do it or find another job - pretty simple. Just keep in mind that job options moving forward in 2023 are not the same as the last few years, so be careful on you decision
Those CEOs won’t be at the top much longer.
dinosaurs
This is just false.
Can you be my boss? Lol
If we work in office means, we can able to explore many things, expand the contacts, new friends, work time selfies, friendly tours, friends outings and lot and lots of benefits... Why don't we try to work in office??
I'm no longer waiting for the grant loan because i earn $36,700 in returns from my $8,000 Investment every 10 days recently
How do you do that?
HOW! I would really appreciate if you show me how to go about it. Please can you list the platforms ?
@@angelachris980 After I came across bitcoin trading platform of Mr Charles Lucas my financial life has totally changed.
Wow😊l know him and I have also been trading with him, he's such an amazing man with good skills, keeps me happy all week knowing I earn 15thousand extra income trading with him.
Same here, I earn $13,000 a week. GOD bless Charles, he has been a blessing to
my family.
This hasn’t aged well Lol! 😂
Been working from home since 2009 after mortgage crisis, rather be working in an office with lots of associates. That at home sh*t is not going to work longterm, people are going to be begging to get back to an office full of other people.
Not all of us think this way
Nope, cannot get anything done with 10-15 people around talking on phone, discussing vacations, etc.
I can go to a restaurant if I want a place “full of other people”.
Uh...no.
Bullshit dawg
Been working remote for 4 years now as an electrical engineer, I am not begging to go back to the office lol
just proves ceo doesnt mean smart. I really hate people that talk like this.
Hate is a strong word.
I did like your comment box.
Think you mean non productive or other. So I agree.
Take Care.
You wrote this twice. Twice I disagree.
If your job can be done remotely it can be done anywhere in the world. Americans are arguing for their job to be sent outside of the US.
Companies that decide to outsource will outsource regardless
@@AK-ne4ogexactly. This is just fear mongering.
This isn't hard, go to work and then go home. They're two different places. Stop trying to act like most people can work remote. The overwhelming mass majority of people can't work remotely.
That's why there's a word "Ask" if they can work remotely. If you ever been into office jobs, you know that is the most common thing that's been asked in an interview. If they're not comfortable in work from home then put them in the office. Its simple.
And being worse without actual benefit is just dumb. Stop pretending that many, many jobs can't be done just as efficiently as work from home.
It’s not for everyone.
I want to be back in the office. Nothing beats human interaction and collaboration
You must take in to account incompetent or corrupt or lazy humans.
They exist and cannot work remotely.
Motivation is not in place for many.
All for those of ethics knowledge and motivation can and should work remotely.
Unfortunately this talent is a low percentage of the work force.
Best you study people and all the products and services.
You are unique and do not represent the masses.
Most do not know what an ISP is.
If they’re are lazy remote/home, then they’re lazy in office. What is the difference?
@@chiefearnest1450 they're easier to manage in the office. They can get caught if not doing their job properly. Additionally by being surrounded by people, they are more likely to push for a little more work than when no one is around.
@@miraclemile837 If you have to micromanage them, then they shouldn't be working there. Also, I know workers who are surrounded by people in the office but can just pretend to look busy.
