Im surprised how little information is available, people dont even seem to know how deep the pool was (it looks to have a rather large shallow end)..........I get the feeling life is very cheap in this part of the world, even for Thai millionaire (billionaire baht)

I would be curious to know who own the first hotel they visited, and why there is no footage of what happened in the first hotel on arrival? In my opinion an argument or a issue happened there and then degenerated. Knowing Indian 5 star de luxe customers I know how hard and rude they can behave when something is wrong. (and for some Thai this is unacceptable.) After that it wasn't too hard for a powerful local to find them anywhere else in the Island and ask to close an eye in the afternoon and complete the retaliation
Been to koh tao few weeks later after the two brits got murdered and there were many tourists there . Been 2019 last time to koh tao and never felt danger even in darkness or at main beach pier drunken at night with my European wife , maybe cause I'm half thai I don't know ... I talked to an employer of an hotel and she said there are more crimes on that island than we all heard of and listened to some stories that never came to public . Even it got that murder island reputation , so many tourists were there at the time we stayed there
What is the name of the Hotel/Resort? If the hotel is on the Thai Tourist board details, it should give the pool depth in the advertising detail, since families will need to know the depth and if it's safe for kids! If I knew the hotel's/resort's name, I would search for you online! This now you can do for yourself to ascertain the information you seek!

@@thelittlesignpost Several sources are currently stating that the greatest depth is 2.2 m. Only one Thai police colonel has reportedly said it was 3 m. I had previously looked around the resort's website without finding anything useful.
The pool also supposed to be closed due to covid restrictions its normal they say the cctv cameras where broken... In my opinion they got everything on camera and then deleted to don't leave any trace
