- The Mississippi River has been low and slow for five months now, and that's allowed beautiful green water to infiltrate every bayou, pass and pond near Venice, La., making for some of the most productive fishing in recent history.
This week, I hopped aboard with Capt. Triston Elston to see what we could catch, and the action was virtually nonstop on a variety of species.

I had the opportunity to go offshore fishing with my cousin Chad and some of my family out of Venice at the time he was running his own charter boat and let me tell you it was so beautiful and I would love to do it again. He is running a boat for Voodoo charters .

Cool trip and video, so awesome when you can catch all the different species. My favorite videos are for sure the marsh and bayous. Have you considered taking a subscriber fishing now and then!!???
I always enjoy your videos. Can you do a test video of how a Jig Head reacts in the current with a Loop Knot as opposed to a regular knot. Just curious if the Loop knot provides additiional action for the lure when the water is passing by it. Keep on posting.

Well you were worried about the redfish population and I think from this trip you don’t have to worry anymore
I'm still worried. There are gaping holes in our population, with very few fish in the slot, particularly when compared to historic take. If these little fish, which seem to be everywhere right now, don't grow up to fill those holes in the slot, it's an indication that they're getting harvested as soon as they turn legal size and we're experiencing significant overfishing. Time will tell.
@@MarshManMasson I think it’s time to raise the size limit and drop the slot limit down to 3 fish per day. I’m also for raising the size limit on trout and again dropping the slot limit to 15 fish and I know it’s not a popular view everyone doesn’t want that to happen but I think it’s time
I agree with the redfish changes. Trout I have mixed feelings. Let’s just hope that LDWF knows and decide what’s best.
