Hey all, this is the first podcast I've put on the channel so do let me know what you think! The style is a bit of a work in progress but I hope you can see what I'm kind of aiming for. Also a Like and Subscribe goes a long way!
This one isn't as great as I've seen you been but you really polished the podcast angle up and have much livelier episodes that're more focused, I'm enjoying this one but the newer ones are definitely an improvement, can't wait to see what 2024 brings!
Roboute and the ultramarines just doing their thing amongst all the haters makes me respect and like them. Haters are always gonna hate. Just do your tang Roboute
It’s interesting. If you read that fight between Guilliman and Mortarion even though Roboute loses he doesn’t struggle or fight back when Mortarion has him pinned. Or even when he’s injected with the God Blight. It very much feels like that encounter was planned for and went exactly like Guilliman wanted. Roboute knew fighting Mortarion 1v1 was not a fight in his favor. He learned that from Fulgrim and Magnus. Yet he did it anyways despite clearly winning the siege going around Iax and having no need to engage his brother in an honor duel. Guilliman didn’t do any of that on a whim, and so the only conclusion that makes sense is that defeat in personal combat was accounted for and that it’s conclusion would allow the Emperor to manifest and personally slap Mortarion and Nurgle itself. I actually love this. Guilliman is beginning to use the warp to his advantage and actually outclasses Mortarion on his own field of play. It was exceptionally risky, but Guilliman uses all the tools around him to win. And that now includes his fathers power within the immaterium.
I was always confused by that and thought, like... is Bobby suicidal or something? He knows he can't win this and seems to have accounted for containing the godblight, but surely he knew he wasn't going win a straight-up 1v1 against daemon Morty? Does he think his loss is acceptable? Because he sure seems to understand his central importance to the Indomitus Crusade, and the survival of humanity. Anyway, I also had the thought you had - did he have "faith", of a sort, that Big E would intervene like he did? He still seems to forcefully reject the divinity of the Emp when Mathieu dies, but is that just denial?
I think it might not even have to be the faith of Gulliman himself, but of Mathieu, his followers, Gulliman's soldiers, all the believing humans there etc in the same way that regular mortals can be conduits for the Emps power as imperial saints, but supercharged. Guilliman might just be the focal point for the power of 'the emperor in the warp', it might be his own super powered primarch warp soul itself that provides a beacon for the power of faith to coalesce. And that power is anathema to chaos
I am foaming at the mouth for Bobby G and Logar meeting each other again. Especially since Robust Girlyman has acutally read the book of logar and has seen the results of the faith that started. Very interested to see a rematch between the two
Honestly I love that the lion is back he has quickly become my favorite character in all of 40k, like he is that guy. I can only wait and see what future powers he acquires alongside his Forrest walk ability.
Guilliman is forever my favourite primarch, because he's just... smart, and reasonable. And he's one of the only primarchs (maybe THE only?) who actually plans for and looks forward to peace, and trained his own sons to be more than just weapons forever.
47:02 Funny coincidence; I was discussing with a friend something earlier; that I have thought recently about the idea that opposite chaos primarchs being redeemed, that there should be some loyalists falling. Makes both groups feel more dynamic. I was talking with a friend which loyalist we would like to see return having fallen to chaos and the best idea we came up with was Leman returning...having fallen to Tzeentch. Playing on the implications that Leman will be an Odin analogue (a god not only of wisdom but of magic), and noting that if Leman were breaking in to Nurgle's garden, tzeentch may just want to get in on that/offer assistance under false guise.
I think black library will work how to write in the yellow king if Russ will return. The new Lion book shows that he's tempered now compared to his 30k self. So the reunion of the 2 returned primarchs is gonna be something to look forward to
On the topic of primarch relationships: I love the sort-of rivalry between The Lion and Leman Russ quite a lot. Just because it stands as a really good bit of contrast and juxtaposition for both characters, with The Lion being the one who seems to struggle with letting it go, while Leman Russ (the one originally holding the grudge) willingly took a primarch's sword through the chest because he didn't want to fight his brother, forgiving The Lion for the initial grudge and for stabbing him literally in the same moment as he's getting stabbed. It's really neat characterization.
Regarding Titus I dont think he is a blank, unless all of his resentful aura is absorberd by Leandros, because everyone else seems to be gohappy to see him and be in his presence, from Mira to Sidonus. And I think it would stand out if an ultramarine would be disliked by other mariens, especially a captain.
You channel and Pancras are where I get my 40k lore. That is awesome seeing two giants in the industry on the same yt video. Thank you for providing the lore you give to us
I think i can say with outmost certainty that whenever lion and guilliman meet it's gonna be them being happy to see eachother. SPOILERS from lion:son of the forest Lion last pov thoughts at the end of thd book when he meets dante and is told about guilliman and state of things he pauses and thinks this: "Roboute. I am not alone" As he thought every one of his brothers was dead at this point cause of scattered news from the people he meets
Loved this, perfect to relax to whilst painting. 😁 I'm hoping to get my channel back up and running soon, so don't worry, I'll take the bottom of the ladder, you two can go on and continue with the awesome vids. 😂
Booby G is the Primarch the Imperium needed back. Not a knuckle dragging sword god. Bobby Gi is a planner, politician, organiser and logistician. In essence. The other Primarch are primarily soldiers. Roboute is a statesman and a general. Granted, its 40k, so little will be fixed to unf--k the Imperium. The Lion et al. need to accept Roboute as the leader while he is out leading the troops.
Macragge did use the dual-consulship system of ancient Rome, so why can't Guilliman just shift the power structure to that? Guilliman and The Lion stand together as equals as Co-Consuls
They used to just have a lot of dick sucking so people got annoyed about them winning all the time and never losing or anything. But recently it’s been so much better and everyone is liking them more and more. Just some authors over did it
Love the podcast idea, I feel like with warhammer podcasts, they tend to be better with 3+ guests. If you could get more on with ya that would be an hour of my time well spent!
Colin is an absolute legend... I have never played the table top,the game or read any of the books.. But thanks to Colin and other podcasts im really into it now Just bought my 1st book Gotrek and Felix .... Keeo up the good work gents
It can’t happen in the current narrative. It’s strains the credulity. The imperium is split in 2 with the Cicatrix Maledictum. Imperium Nihilist can’t see the astronomicon. Tyranids are pushing in, Chaos is winning, Ork invasions, Drukhari raids, and a civil war? It would destroy the Imperium. That can’t happen.
I feel like most high elf archetypes tend to be pretentious because they're usually the magical lawful good race and have the moral high ground, in 40k the eldar are way less that alignment but still have that dismissive arrogance.
I love both of your channels and i know you already made another podcast but i just wanted to point out that i really like the podcast format so do more plz. 29:50 yes the eldar birthed slannesh but the human race birthed the other 3, and humanity is a flash in the pan compared to the Eldar who have been around for *billions* of years! Great discussion as always Sandman ❤
Mortarion was so arrogant and high on his own farts (literally, given his patron deity), he didn't believe the psykers mattered at all. Also, of all the Primarchs (except perhaps Angron), he understands the powers of the Warp the least.
@@SandmanofTerra Thanks, I’m realizing that there is more to the lore and need to read more for myself. Seems a lot of people leave out a lot of what really happened.
Whilst Abbadon beat Calgar in their battle, it was Calgar who won the war. Drawing Abbadon down to him to fight a duel bought time so that the plan to damage or destroy the Vengeful Spirit could be carried out. Like Guilliman, Calgar used his head. GW changed it, but in such a way that Calgar still came up smelling of roses. I really enjoyed the story.
>"Noble, honorable, and dedicated to the protection of humanity" Also ultramarines: >Throw themselves into a meat grinder to commit war crimes against a harmless eldar craftworld for literally no reason
I'm enjoying your videos and how open you are to everyone's opinions. And your love for Warhammer is clear. I have come to really like Guilliman. I've become a blood angel supporter. Love sanguineous and think MEPHISTON is badass and has great stories so far. I also enjoy the whole emperor storyline. Think he is so misunderstood. Most haters of him seem to not be able to understand he has knowledge of major shit coming in the near future and he also had the forces of chaos working to turn his sons on him and keep him in the dark as much as possible. With warp storms ect.
A great listen! A thought for a 40k podcast, especially after the Black Legion Lorecrimes ep. would be to have points of view counter to the usual mainstream, either through guests who (respectfully) see things differently, or just choosing topics that aren't commonly covered. Might be a bit less beginner friendly, but would have more longevity maybe? Either way this was already entertaining and I'm looking forward to more.
I actually agree with Pancreasnowork’s assessment of some writing that is out there around the marines - the bad writing is when they make the marines look great by making the other factions looks bad, which comes across as infantile fanwank. Done right, where the marines look great but not at the expense of their enemies - THAT’S the good stuff.
Its kinda funny that pancreasnowork considers himself a 40k TH-camr when he's the reason that i got into Warhammer fantasy to the point im getting a PC just so i can play Warhammer 3 lol
I’ll just throw this out there because I find it so interesting. The wolf king is a man pretending to be a savage. The lion was a savage pretending to be a man.
Gulliman and the lion 2 v 1 against fulgrim, succeeding triumphantly yet giving Fulgrim a resson to rouse lorgar against gulliman, and angron will want in.
Most beloved Books from the Warhammer 40K Universum are those from and about Caiphas Cain. Why? Kommissar Caiphas Caine says of himself that he is an impostor and a scaredy-cat. But in his eagerness to really avoid fights (much to the delight of his subordinates) and his unusually cautious nature, this is precisely why he keeps coming up against new situations where he is forced to pull his neck, and incidentally the necks of his subordinates, out of the shit in the most hair-raising ways. And so, from his point of view, he has to start actions that in the end are always perceived as heroic deeds by everyone but himself. He's just happy to have saved his own neck (although this changes somewhat during the course of the novel, especially after he meets his favorite Inquisitor. It's not unreasonable to assume that the two are very fond of each other). But the most Warhammer 40K Romans are good, including those by and about the Ultramarines and their Primarch. :)
What if Titus is a blank but also isn't a true space marine. The emperor made an incredibly powerful psychic legion. Why wouldn't he have also made a legion of blanks? I think it could be cool if one of the Lost legions was made up of a bunch of blanks. And the ultramarines did absorb at least some Marines from the lost legions
@@SandmanofTerra haha mate I love Warhammer,it's by far the best fictional setting in existence,I also love Warhammer channels and content so if I find someone that's putting out good stuff or doing something unique like you are then I will go on a mission to help as much as I can! At the moment I'm watching every one of your vids, liking and commenting and sharing to my Facebook. You are doing great things and deserve those subs and revenue 👍 I'm just a fan thats here to help 💪💪💪
I mean why do people think emperor has a grand plan. He often gives the impression he has no idea what hes doing. Which totally explain why other eternals left.
I'm totally with pancreas on the stubborn refusal to partake in something because people nag. I still haven't watched breaking bad or stranger things just for the same reason. Yes, I am a petty little twat, why do you ask? 😇
I enjoy 40k lore (and am one of the story preferers) but I am a big big CA fan going back to mid 2000s so I hope they leave off Warhammer and do some historical based games again, those are way more interesting to me. Medieval 3 maybe! (British Isles one does NOT count)
Theres truth to that, BUT: when exams come and shit hits the fan, everybody was happy to be able to use their notes or just outright cheat off of those kids. and that completes the analogy. the ultrasmurfs are a neccesary annoyance, humanity was doomed until rowboat girlyman arrived.
I’m still new so I’m in love with marines and didn’t bother with Cain’s books. Just something about a guy being a coward and luck being the reason he gets everything ain’t motivating to read. It’s like an Isekai anime honestly.
I just don't get the "friendship" between Ferrus and Fulgrim - Fulgrim is so obviously manipulative and Ferrus is not interested in Fulgrim's proclivities for art and drama. Its like the drama kid being best friends with the scooter mechanic kid If anything Ferrus would probably been a friend to Russ in an extreme "I can do better than you bro" competitive vibe.
So I said "son of roboute Guilliman" instead of "ultramarine" as importantly this includes the successors. The black Templars are most likely the larger chapter, but there are so many chapters of ultramarines that together, the sons of Guilliman outnumber all others.

So I've gotta ask as someone "relatively" new to the setting of 40k. Isn't everyone pretty well screwed? Isn't chaos simply destined to win?
Necrons and Tyranids are mostly likely to win imo, but yup! Everyone is screwed!
Bro is beautiful
Where was Warhammer Fest?!
The Silent King will cleanse all.
I mean why do people think emperor has a grand plan. He often gives the impression he has no idea what hes doing. Which totally explain why other eternals left.
Pancreasnowork! 🎉
It'd be interesting if you and the amber king talked :)
We've actually done a podcast! I just need to get round to editing it
@@SandmanofTerra that's awesome!
What the name of the book where the space marines made by the T'au are in ? Is it really canon ?
Blades of Damocles
I'm totally with pancreas on the stubborn refusal to partake in something because people nag. I still haven't watched breaking bad or stranger things just for the same reason.
Yes, I am a petty little twat, why do you ask? 😇
Breaking bad is the most overrated show of all time. You're not missing much.
I enjoy 40k lore (and am one of the story preferers) but I am a big big CA fan going back to mid 2000s so I hope they leave off Warhammer and do some historical based games again, those are way more interesting to me. Medieval 3 maybe! (British Isles one does NOT count)
Filgrim and Farris manus
Adeptus Astartes don't interest him? HERESEY!😤 INQUISITOR! This one from across the pond of Merica.😑
Can Chaos be beaten?
Faith in the god emperor can overcome all evils
@SandmanofTerra did I speak hersey, brother.
The Ultramarines are those kids that remind the teacher that there is homework to turn in.
Perma-swirly status for Ultramarines
Theres truth to that, BUT:
when exams come and shit hits the fan, everybody was happy to be able to use their notes or just outright cheat off of those kids.
and that completes the analogy.
the ultrasmurfs are a neccesary annoyance, humanity was doomed until rowboat girlyman arrived.
I'd argue you'd be more likely to see a black Templar than an ultramarine
So I said "son of roboute Guilliman" instead of "ultramarine" as importantly this includes the successors. The black Templars are most likely the larger chapter, but there are so many chapters of ultramarines that together, the sons of Guilliman outnumber all others.
@@SandmanofTerra oh ok, I misunderstood
Didnt dig 20 minutes of hating on marines.
How will Lion react to Bobby G having a relationship with Yvraine?
:)
Titus is a blank that's why he's resistant to the warp.
