    This is the led Zeppelin I feel in love with. Ragged but right. Rough around the edges, immediacy and urgency and youthful vigor. The sound of a cataclysm. Unpredictable.

    Here's a story. My late cousin Ronnie told me, somewhere around 1972, that he and his friends would pay $1 and watch Zep rehearsals at The Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. That was also in 1969. They would sit there among 300 people and smoke pot and listen to Zep play for 2 hrs.
    You believe that shit?

    • @rudy2shoes403
      @rudy2shoes403 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Absolutely believe that shit. They LOVED the West Coast, and San Francisco was probably their favorite spot. I can't believe that Jerry Garcia & Jimmy never crossed paths... I just find that hard to believe. Either way, I believe this 100%.. they got to try out new #'s, new takes on #'s, etc. Could be made up, but I'd say that sounds about right...

    I've been listening to Zeppelin Bootlegs for about six years now (with a nice introduction to them by my guitar teacher when he found out I'd become a zeppelin fan) and though I discovered this concert relatively early in my journey (about two years in), it is still, without a doubt, my favourite, and a large chunk of it is due to this performance. Every person in the world deserves to hear this, it surpasses any material they've put on their albums, easily. It is a marvel of sound and it will never be matched.

      Because the sound quality is not up to par. It's certainly beyond listenable but it sounds like a 2 channel stereo mix down tape transfer as opposed to being taken from a multitrack master. There are better quality live SBDs from 1969.

    I last heard this classic boot maybe 25 years ago on a borrowed cassette which I dubbed. Wore it out right quick. To hear it again in such superb quality is a real treat. I know every note that’s coming despite the years. Amazing stuff. Many thanks.

    I'd never hate on Mercury, but IMO Plant was--and always will be--king shit in rock vocals. His voice is like literally the perfect marriage with the electric guitar. It's freaky. Zeppelin's been my favorite band since the first time I heard Immigrant Song on the radio when I was a kid.

    • @guitarplayer2846
      @guitarplayer2846 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Long time Lep Zep fan here but your comparison is apples and oanges. Mercury's voice is perfect for Queen's music and Plant is perfect for LZ's blues style. Also, Greg Allman is the best fit for ABB's jazz/ blues. southern rock combnation.
      Page and Plant hamonized better any other singer/guitsrist ever. Outstanding live harmonies requires a lot of talent.and a lot of studio practice.. I think both hearing in absolute pich, not just Plant. Guitsrist usually don't exceed relative pitch (identifying other pitches from another.chord such as an E or an A). . .

    • @guitarplayer2846
      @guitarplayer2846 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While we're using apples and oranges comparisons, If it was Jagger singng Whole Lotta Love and Plant singing Angie, neither would be worth releasing. Record space s more valuable than most people realize. A lot of songs have to be left off...

    Tout y est ! L'intensité, la précision, le contraste, l'émotion, la sauvagerie, les envolées, les enchainements, l'envoutement, la puissance et la finesse. Et Ce Son ! La Folie ! C'est le morceau sur bootleg que j'ai le plus écouté ! Le Must Nec + Ultra TOP. 1000 Merci de l'avoir mis ici.

Ticket cost for LZ was $3.50, holy shit what a "rip off" :-) On Sunday there was a free concert at Muir Beach (private beach then). Sorry, that's all I remember. :-)

      Doesn't matter, everybody covered and stole from everyone back in the day. Hell, Santana was mostly a cover band, all the hits came from Tito Puente, Willie Bobo and Fleetwood Mac. It's the way the band does it that makes them memorable.

    Abysmal dross such as this was the ruination of great British Rock n' Roll Music. which was up this point held in high esteem through bands such as the Who, Traffic and the Stones. Just goes to show how hypocritical American media really is. Ban the Black guys great Music, then let in a bunch of White middle class wankers pretending to have the blues. Jimmy Page is the kinda guy who had people in England writing graffiti 'CLAPTON IS GOD' all round the country, and rightly so, cos Jimmy couldn't play his way out of a paper bag. As for Plant. Frankly he's a poor imitation of Steve Marriot and amongst the cognoscente of good music is a laughing stock. They couldn't even get gigs in England .that's why we sent em over for you guys to embrace ! By the way, "hammer44head" you are right about that intro to Taurus. Zeps stole everything they ever did, then settled out of court to prevent Joe Blow on the street from ever finding out. The fact that they did it so well don't change the fact that they were the biggest thieves who ever trod the boards...........made em very rich, which after all is the American way of judging people. So in fact it don't matter if something is shit, so long as it sells, aint that right ? There's no accounting for taste is there ! I know Robert personally, he cant help himself, it's because he never had an original idea in his life, so being the ego-maniac that he is, he feels it's ok to steal other peoples. Hence, the state of music today. Amen............ P.S. The line from Marvin Gaye' I heard it through the grapevine, comes into play here. "Believe half of what you see, and nothing of what you hear" Marvin had it right.........And a classic example of what a singer SHOULD sound like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Paul Martinez you are an Idiot. Zeppelin is one of the greatest bands ever..
      They took rock and blues to a new level and changed music forever. You would be hard pressed to find musicians that weren't influenced one way or another by Zeppelin.4 great musicians PERIOD!!
      And as far as stealing, they all borrowed ( Clapton, Stones, The Who,ect.)
      Zeppelin just made it their own..
      And they stole everything they did?? Your crazy. They wrote so many great songs.
      Go back to your room in your moms house and play your dean guitar,, you Wanker!
      Zeppelin was and is, the greatest rock and roll band ever!

      I don’t understand how people can be convinced this is plagiarism lol. It literally involves the slightest amount of effort and a touch of curiosity to learn that every band in this period did covers of their idols/influences. Literally look at any other band’s live material from this period, including the American blues artists themselves from generations prior.

      jimmy sonhil ... They rehearsed ‘Train kept a rollin’’ on their first meeting together on Gerard Street in ‘68. The band members often used to talk about that rehearsal, and how from the very first note they played on it, the whole room just exploded... they all knew at that moment that something pretty special was happening.
