52:32 Good performance. Not sure if i like the editing, but I was so happy to see there was a close up of the snare drum's only bar in the piece. Even though the music is ferocious that brief moment always puts a smile on my face.
Grandios.
Brilliant symphony, especially the adagio...pity about the camera blackouts though...what was that supposed to mean? The WDR is one of the most improved orchestras around!
In the original TV broadcast of this concert, images were shown in between, for which no online rights are available. So, unfortunately we had to cut out these parts.

I loved listening to this performance, but I gave up on watching the video after a few minutes. It reminds me of the bad old ego trip of Karajan in imposing distracting, "arty" closeups of orchestral sections on the musical experience. The cinematography of orchestral videos has advanced a great deal in the last couple of decades in guiding the eye around the orchestra to bring out various musical elements and enhance one's ability to follow the music. This video is a step backwards in that respect. It's a pity, because the orchestra AS A WHOLE is playing so very well. By the end of the performance, I was moved beyond the power of speech to express. It was electrifying. I look forward to listening to more Mahler from Saraste and this virtuoso orchestra. I hope they can fix the video problem.
Unfortunately many conductors speed up here which is the exact opposite of what Mahler intended. Bernstein does the same thing, especially in his late recording with the Concertgebow orchestra. Try Abbado's Lucerne version to hear the passage done correctly. And most conductors play the last page faster than the rest of the movement which makes hash of Mahler's marking of Adagissimo.
Too many fade to black during the piece. Otherwise very fine playing, a super reading of Mahler’s ninth. Also, many seconds, adding to minutes on poor closeups. Never saw conductor full length, or did I miss that? Worth another look and listen.
Music is life, and Mahler's music is the very seed of life. Thank you for this performance full of life.
You're welcome!
We're glad that you like our performance 🤗

The music to purify your soul. Thank you for your performance, it means a lot for us.
Our pleasure! We are happy that you like it. 😃

Great camerawork. Hans Hadulla and the cinematographers are absolute geniuses.
Vielen Dank für den angenehmen Hörgenuss 🌸🌸
The ending is like a persons last moments on earth before passing away. So peaceful and beautiful.
Oh, Gustav's marvelous wonderful world. It seems that after it few people created the same large-scale world of music at 1 o'clock

Who knows where Mahler would have gone if he had lived past 50? He was already halfway there.
love the camera work
thanks for the post. one of the very best recordings of this work.
Thank you! 🤗

Orchestra impressionante, meraviglia ❤
Fabulous music and playing of it. The video coverage is very nice for showing the performers' fingers and mouths, but why are there blackouts?

exelent kamering.......
so good!!!
Who’s the concertmaster? She played really well. A good performance with nice camera work.
That is Camilla Kjøll. At the time she was concertmaster of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester and helped at this concert.
If she is the concert master of a big-league orchestra, she will get the solos. and play them well.

At 1:04:49 Saraste has decided to go twice the speed. The score clearly say "stets gehalten".

@@remomazzetti8757 Cheers. Off the top of my head, Bertini and Dorati are ok on this point.
@@remomazzetti8757 Bernstein conducts the 9th as if he had a plane to catch.
Thank you 😊
Alguien tiene la grabación completa?????? 😢

I wanted to watch this. I went for youtube instead of spotify tidal etc., so that I had something to see. Don't blacken the screen.
Not sure, what has happened here, but the screen is only black for the first 20 seconds.

Average performance. Great cinematography
Camera work irritating, distracting, insensitive to the score.. Sanchez Lansch much better
Beggars cant be choosers, very disrespectful
