ive always sucked with every instrument, i cant sing, nor can i dance. ive always known ive had a musical passion. the second i saw one of these, i fell in love. i bought it as soon as i saw it. within the first hour, i felt i mastered it. its truely a beautiful and elegant instrument! this is MY instrument!
I've been a musician for 10 years now, and the look on your face when you played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is the perfect capture of the feeling I have whenever I make music 😊
Our African culture bag decided that something wasn't right in our country....... Some peaceful sounds....... So they made drums flutes and what you have...... Kalimba! Thank you for using our item!
Shouldn’t you start on the 17 prong karimba so that way when you get better you don’t have to buy a new one and you’ll have more options since you have more notes?
The website KalimbaMagic has a lot of really good information if you're interested. I just took the plunge and bought a Kalimba from amazon and they've really helped me. Heres a link: www.kalimbamagic.com/shop/for-kids-and-beginners
The kalimba's sound reminds me of music boxes I had when I was a little kid, the sound had this poetic tinge I can't explain, I think it's also used for mood setting when the griots go from village to village, during story time or when they recite proverbs.
I picked up the 17 prong (before watching this vid) and already learned 2 full songs after about a day and a half, including Can't Help Falling In Love, and Married Life.
If someone is thinking about getting one, please go for a 17 key kalimba in C. You'll quickly learn how to play and 10 keys isn't enough for many songs.
If you've never played an instrument before, it will be. But it's probably the easiest instrument I've learned. You can play really simply things that sound nice, and the way the instrument is designed, it's pretty hard to play things that sound awful.
Funny. You don't need a10 tube Kalimba just out some tape over the ones you don't want to use. Beginner songs only use 10 to 15. So for those buying one done waste your money on the 10. Get the 17. Although I'm a musician, it is very simple to learn. Can play anywhere and you don't need to read music. There are lots of resources here in TH-cam for learning. I chimney the red tabs to a number chart and it is easy. If you read music you can go a step further using a piano score to write your own cover Kalimba music.
i'm a total noob when it comes to music and just recently got a 17 key kalimba and it's amazing... i don't see why you should start with a 10 key one though. even the cheap ones sound amazing and you can play them while laying in bed :D
careful ,Kalimba is addictive (do NOT attempt to play whilst driving your car!) I picked on up in around 1982 ,now I have 9 ,go electric now and then and have not yet graduated to Mbira! LOVE Shona music however
Hi it’s Geoff from England Uk and basically this is a nice intresting instrument and I’m going to need your advice tips to teach or learn to play a kalimba and I need your advice tips of guidance and also Africa has done it they actually made a newest instrument and it’s a kalimba and I’m going to have one to learn myself to play one from Geoff uk time
