Wow.... The jokes in this are really amazing.I didn´t even think, it could get a lot better, but first that one with the snake at the diner (7:07), that just killed me. But then the next one about the police report (8:31)... Very cleverly cut away, Mark! That one had to take a moment to even sink in, I´m sure like at least 30% of people watching this video didn´t even get the joke in there......... I was laughing my ass off!....

But understanding it was satire and social commentary of the time I can see why Mark would have made an edited segment to highlight it. I like Mark but before reading your comment I really was beginning to think "differently".

I have a question for everyone: have you ever been to your town's meeting? Do you go regularly? People in movies and TV shows are always having them but I couldn't even tell you if we have town meetings. certainly not emergency ones. I've never been called to the emergency town meeting about a storm coming in or snakes from Satan or how are we going to pay for the town's new cat racing track

That female Doctor was in the movie Airplane. She was the one who was freaking out and everyone was stepping up in line to smack the shit out of her. When I got that joke it added a new level of humor to a joke that is decades old. I laughed so hard my lungs hurt.

They were both blonde in the 70s, but no. The doctor is played by Gretchen Corbett, best known as Jim Rockford's lawyer.
The actress in Airplane was Lee Bryant, primarily a commercials actress that would do one off character roles on various weekly TV series.

Spielberg said that "Jaws" isn't about a shark. 🐟 I reckon "Vertigo" is really about a snake. 🐍
I like how he wears a Vertigo shirt while suffering from debilitating vertigo, and can compose himself enough to disguise it and still film the video.

I second everyone's excitement with Mark's new and improved schedule. For anyone into classic movies, the legendary Norman Lloyd shows up as the Monsignor at 11:38. Believe it or not, he is still alive at the grand old age of 106! He was a longtime friend of Alfred Hitchcock's and appeared in his 1940's masterpieces "Saboteur" and "Spellbound", as well as several "Hitchcock Presents" episodes in the late 1950's. Later on, he had small but important roles in such films as "Dead Poets Society" and "The Age of Innocence". He was probably doing someone a favor showing up on this, but I loved seeing him (and this review).
I thought he looked familiar! I know him from his work on Seven Days, which is probably not his most significant role.

I love Norman Lloyd, if you ever watch the DVD extras of Saboteur, his reminiscences of working with Hitchcock are priceless. Glad he's still with us.

In the interview for my job working with cadavers (that I had before the pandemic), they actually asked me if I was okay with finding humor in dark things...

That actually makes sense, but is there like a perpetual buffet in the room next to all the corpses?
Like I get the whole idea that coroner's eating is meant to show how casually they handle corpses, and are used to it, but holy fuck it's a BIT MUCH because I don't think I've ever seen a coroner in a movie(or maybe mortician is the right title idk) share a room with a corpse without stuffing their face full of food.
Maybe this is a prequel for that huge ass snake from “Hard ticket to Hawaii”🐍 lol
This movie looks hilarious! I can’t believe you didn’t decide to further pursue her ridiculous nervous breakdown after he shot the snake in her bedroom, and then the fact that he did what we all wanted to do and slapped her.
And why were they so non-chalant afterwards since more snakes could have been there!!!!

I found your reviews in 2020, and they are the most entertaining way to learn how to improve one's own filmmaking. In this one I really appreciated the discussion of the problems of filming drinking with empty cups. All these small things can pile up quickly in small independent projects by people (like me) new to filmmaking. - Dave

Holy s*** mark I was actually a bartender at that dog track it's called Greene track, in Greene county Alabama! I'm old enough to remember them filming this around our part of the state.

We need one question answered still: why does Mark always emphasize TO in "welcome back TO the show!"?
Because it would be weird to emphasize "welcome back to THE show."
He has a unique accent. Ever notice how he pronounces the word "process" like "pro-sess"
I thought it was because it sounded really cool the first time and then kind of became his trademark. Never gets old to me!

Mark, instead being one of those "the cup is empty" kind a guys, try being "the cup is full of air" kind of guy. Optimism, man, optimism.
The empty cup thing drives me crazy too! Literally just put water in the cup or even lead weights or something. It's so obvious.
You could almost say that defeating the snake turns out to be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Speaking of the whole "drink cup" thing. A big pet peeve of mine in shows and movies is when a character takes a sip out of a full drink, but it makes a sounds as if the drink is almost empty.

My God Mark, you don't know how long I've waited to hear someone else share their dislike for empty drinks cartons. That has been one of my pet hates for a long time. Soap actors are the worst for pretending there is liquid in the empty carton/cup. Is it SO hard to put a little bit of goddamn water in them! Ya know, to make the scene more believable!! Am I going mad!!! 🥤😡🤣
Yo, they filmed this in my hometown of Childersburg Alabama. At least the scenes in the cave are shot there. They are called DeSoto caverns...
