+Wizzkid was The TASes where players don't do bonus stages are speed TASes, whereas those where bonus stages are played out are referred to as comical TASes or stylish.

@@Wizzkidwas well I've seen people doing "TAS Speedrun", wtf is that supposed to mean? also some people are also saying the S is for "superplay" but honestly that sounds even worse and doesn't make sense. Tool assistance in games usually looks more like a emulator movie than a playthrough. Those movie files would record the data for each frame and if you where to playback them and stop at any point you could control the game at that same point and play it differently. TAS are basically doing this except they can manipulate frame by frame as the TASer wants so whatever.

Also how Ultimate wants you to put in effort for ending at 9.9 since you can only start the highest at 5.0 and you only have the whole route + boss to boost it and how the longer you take, the less effective the boost is. And on the times lost near the end would need a lot of classic tickets for each run as it’s the only way to not have the intensity decrease.
And now the Classic Mode in Ultimate is pretty awesome as every character has a unique set of fighters to face based on the adventures in their games or their characteristics.

I consider teammates too unintelligent to be saved from taking damage :P
idea : mod that lets you control your teammate(s) in classic mode with controller 2 or 3.

how are the characters colored in classic mode?
On Very Hard mode, characters wear alternative colors. Ex. Instead of Captain Falcon, you get Blood Falcon.

What does TAS stand for
Tool-Assisted-Speedrun. Basically it's a modded version of the game and typically features frame-perfect actions and save states.

Dang the CPUs move so slow, not like how the characters normally move at Tourneys. Were they always meant to go so slow I thought Melee was supposed to be fast.
+TheKahunaLagoona The speed of competitive Melee fights comes mostly from abusing things like Wavedashes and cancels. The game itself, when outside of a hyper-competitive context, is just as fast or slow as any other Smash game. Games after Melee have had their mechanics re-tooled so that the upper limits of the game aren't reduced to button-mashing, jump canceling, Fox and Falco spamming with the occasional Shiek, inaccessible wombo combo clusterfucks.
