You actually just saved me from failing my math test tomorrow. You taught me this 10 times better than my math teacher ever has.Thank you soooo much!! Definitely going to be using your videos to get a better understanding all the time now.
I have been using your videos since 8th grade--I am now a Freshman in college, and am still using them. Thank you so much--you have saved me from many a failure...I can honestly say you're one of my heroes...I sure hope you become a math professor, because there are some really crappy math profs out there.
Thank you so much. Oh my goodness. For literally two days I have been trying to figure out what I have been doing wrong on these types of problems. The help function on my homework software does not explain how to find the number you add or subtract to outside of the parentheses to get to the original equation when you have a coefficient greater than one. I was solving them as if the the coefficient was one. I had no idea. Life saver.
@@annie-eq2ye oh man, this was 5 years ago when I was a freshman in Uni, but I think it ended up going really well. Our math professors were garbage for what the cost was for a top public university, this man and his channel just simplified everything for me
Algebra midterm in 3 hours and my teacher is terrible, you are amazing, thank you for all the work you put into teaching on TH-cam, you've saved many of us in college, peace n love from Daytona Beach, Florida!!
you sir are a life saver. my teacher spent at least 3 days trying to teach some crazy ass backwards way of doing this and no one in the class got it. you've done in 15 minutes what took him at least 3 hours and failed. You have my most sincere thanks
One of the most helpful video series I've seen on working with quadratics. Thank you! I'm a teacher trying to tutor an Alg II student and needed some extra supportive instruction. I can do these now which means I can help my student to do them too!
Thank you sir, my teacher gave us a worksheet and on only taught us how to "graph a vertex form" but not how to make quadratic equation into vertex form. I wish I had a better teacher like you.
*Thank You* !!!! I've been out of school for a while and I'm taking a pre-cal class and needed a refresher. Man, I searched the web and couldn't found anything that was clearly broken down and explained WHY a certain move was being done. Thank you for making this easy to understand!
Thanks so much! I was becoming really annoyed thinking that I simply couldn't understand this concept but it turns out that my lecturer left out SO many important points to this process. You're a lifesaver!
i disagree, the way you are teaching is amazing because you break it down to where every1 can understand. You are literally the reason why i am passing my class. thank you and keep it goin! cheers!
Mcphellin, thanks for not letting me watch the whole entire video for what i needed. haha. PatrickJMT, thank you! I'm just refreshing for my finals - this wasn't the way I learned how to do it exactly, but by watching you do it i completely remember how I'm supposed to do it now! :D
Thank you soooo much. I missed this day in school and my teacher didn't bother to review it again at all the following day. My grade in the class is determined how I do on this quiz I have tomorrow and now I understand and am confident I'm going to get a good grade. I wish you could teach my math class.
Thank you so much man, my math teacher tries his hardest but needless to say he isint quite the best at explaining such things, this will surly help me on my test I have today, once again thank you,
Ah thank you so much, we learned this wayyy back earlier this year and exams are coming up, I forgot how to do them! I remembered after I saw your examples, you saved my grades!
omg at the 15 min mark i believe this helped me sooo much the 2x²+12-4 problem my problem is 3x²-6x+8 it is very similar to this the book does it a lil different from how you do it but how you solved it is PERFECTION! thank you thank you thank you! my test is next week monday
When the number is (x-3) it's positive in vertex form, when it's positive (x+3) it's negative in vertex form. This is because the equation is: y=a(x-h)+k e.g. if the vertex is (-4,6) the equation is: y=a(x-(-4))+6 hence the double negative which becomes positive like this y=a(x+4)+6
I think the explanation is the beginning was vital, I didnt understand it so Im glad you explained everything in the beginning. Wish me luck on my finals
Thanks, Patrick. :D I suggested people watch this after I confused a whole class full of non-math majors with a fairly gnarly 'general form for completing the square.'
my teacher tried to teach this to me and she ended up confusing the hell out of me. This video put me right back on track! your awesome thanks so much!!
@patrickJMT Thank you so much for everything! If it weren't for you i wouldn't understand anything! I appreciate how you use diff colors and everything. THANKS! ur the best
Youre such a great tteacher! Thanks so much! imma be checkin out this channel a lot more now for help. ii have a test coming up on wednesday and im sorta afraid to ask my confusing teaching for help , since she wants us to " struggle first" and .. who likes being alone with a teacher?
If only I had found this before finding other completing the squares videos. Gosh, that moment when you realise, that the solution is easier than you thought.
I find it easier to determine the axis of symmetry, plug that into the original equation, which gives k as the result and then write the vertex form by inspection.
the encouragement you offer at the end of the video to just keep practicing is helpful too, in addition to all the other stuff of course. I try to pretend this math stuff is like running or something, and if I keep working at it, i'll get somewhere. oh I hope:/
Thank you for explaining completing the square. My teacher just assumed everyone knew this and it completely threw me off. It also wasn't in the textbook.
You actually just saved me from failing my math test tomorrow. You taught me this 10 times better than my math teacher ever has.Thank you soooo much!! Definitely going to be using your videos to get a better understanding all the time now.
Because of you my grade went from 64 to a 96. thank you very much.
awesome, congrats and keep studying hard :)

Clear, correct directions. Thanks This will help my students.
ha, thanks for recommending my videos ;) - i have found that completing the square tends to confused a lot of people!
BLESS YOUR HEART. LITERALLY JUST SAVED MY MIDTERM EXAM GRADE AND GPA.
how’d it go ?

I wish I knew of you when this school year started. THANK YOU 💯💯💯!
Bless you, sir.
Bless you. You've saved my life.
I wish all math teachers were as clear as you. Your videos are the best math lessons on youtube.
Amen to your mind! Your video is the only one that made sense out of the 5 I watched

You do an outstanding job of explaining difficult math concepts. Your voice is perfect for narration, as well. Thank you for all your hard work!

Fantastic! My Class Has Not Covered Completing Squares Yet But When My Teacher Lays It On Us I'll Be Ready. Thankful For People Like You!
This was exactly what I was looking for and was explained so well!
This saved me so much time. Subbed! :D

This helped so much. My future has been saved thanks to you. My math teacher is useless, but you helped me in 7 minutes when he couldnt for a year.
Thank you so much for this video. You explained how to complete the square better than anyone else on the entire internet!
14:50 was the most helpful thing ever for doing this. thank you very much
Helped me better understand the concept thank you
perfect, glad i could help
+patrickJMT better than any math teacher i've ever had. greatly appreciated.
You're the best Patrick…more helpful than most college professors!!!
I've watched so many vids on quadratic -> vertex and this is the first one i was able to grasp the concept of. Thanks man
@headingtothetop i never say it does not work, i just say fractions can make it much more tedious
@anseeunXX you are very welcome!
Thanks so much! I was becoming really annoyed thinking that I simply couldn't understand this concept but it turns out that my lecturer left out SO many important points to this process. You're a lifesaver!

after this video i understand this concept more than 2 weeks on the subject with my high school teacher. thanks soo much!
You're better than my teacher! ;)
You're a life saver!! Why can't my math professor be like you?
If only my mathematics teacher could've been so slow and simple. Thanks. Beats studying without a clue as to what to do.
very kind and generous of you to share your knowledge with people who need help! thank you!

I like how you make mistakes and explain why you could do better. I draw graphs and improve them too. It's like you're learning with us.
