Probably my favorite Tele ever...the G&L ASAT Special. All the great qualities of a Tele w/o the harsh "icepick" in the bridge and even more clarity and roundness, plus great build quality (better than Fender, it seems). You can hear how much this great player digs this guitar....that says something!!!
Here's the scoop on those pickups: they're called "jumbo MFD". The MFD stands for "Magnetic Field Design". They use a stronger ceramic magnet and *fewer* coil windings. The pickups are also "flatter" than normal pickups. This results in a tighter(?) magnetic field, greater output, less noise, and greater articulation than most single-coil pickups.
I love my 92 ASAT Special, it's my go to axe. I own Gibsons, Fenders, PRS, Hamer Custom Shop and the first I pick up is my old ASAT. She just has 'IT'.. Great demo of an under appreciated guitar. Whether I play through my Marshall JTM50 clone or my 1961 Fender Showman the ASAT allows me to get the best from every amp I've played it through. Thanks Leo Fender and George Fullerton.

Nice playing, Rick! The ASAT Special is the next guitar I'm looking at buying.
