    About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

This is a GREAT video. No nonsense, no music and great helpful information a wonderful art. Great explanation about the burr on the knife edge, I was curious. I create a burr on my woodworking scrapers kind of wondered if they were the same. Thanks again for sharing this very informative video.

ive been making knife for a very long 3 to 4 months lol notice the single tense in knife, yes one knife. i am still enjoying it very much and the biggest thing ive learned is I NEED TOOLS LIKE YOU GUYS.i thank you for all the info that u pass along. ive never done any metal work past sharpening a couple of lawn mower blades on a bench grinder, so this has been a very educational road. ive learned how little i know. my first is{now complete} a bushcrafting spearpoint out of a 1923 sawmill blade about 3/16 thick. i am assuming it is a high carbon still. so i heat treated it in a wood fire in my back yard. i heated it to the point it wouldnt draw a magnet, quenced it in cooking oil i pretreated with a railroad spike. then tempered it in the oven at 400 for 2 hours let it cool down there till the next day. it seems very hard, and hard to sharpen. i put it to a test this week making feather sticks and process wood (acually batoning it throuh wood as in splitting wood.) it was dissappointing to fell the edge was not as sharp when finished as i woud have thought. any advice on how to do my next blank from this 1923 saw mill blade?

With your stainless envelope, can you use like a paint brush roller or some kind of roller that can conform to the knife and roll the oxygen/air out of the end of the envelope before your final "sealing" crimp. Obviously not going to get all oxygen out but just a thought!! Sweet knife, great video!!

Good morning, sir. Thanks for the videos they have been extremely helpful. I have the same issue with my DIY jig. My knives are coming out with the bevels much lower than I'd like. How do we achieve a higher bevel with a jig? Is it due to a difference in angle? Did the second jig have a lesser angle so the belts bite further up the spine? I finally have a 2x72 Arriving today. I would like to improve what I have been producing and this specific issue is one of the "things that gets me"
