    "Did I matter? Was I ever there at all? I thought I'd found my place, surrounded by people I trusted. But look there. I'm gone, yet they go on meeting up just the same. Hm? The table's set wrong. There are too many glasses... Oh. Added a new member, have they? That didn't take long. That was my seat. That was my place at the table. Their glasses clink against the newcomer's, one after the next. No, this is not my place. Maybe it never was."

    The final world is soooooo gorgeous. It's what I picture heaven would look like if there is one. The water and the sky look as one......for eternity. Not to sound egotistical, but I thought of something like this years ago. I got inspired when I was by the ocean with friends. For some reason the water was incredibly still. Then, I saw that the sky was incredibly clear. There was a mist of sorts far away that was so faint, it made the sea and the sky look as if they were fused. It certainly made me rub my eyes. I thought "wow how beautiful." I couldn't get that image out of my mind; the water reflecting the sky was hypontizing. Years passed; then i saw KH3's final world and that memory returned.

      @fosco2135 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@Xelku9
      Something important, though, is that the most depressing part is what is going to happen to all of these people. Spoilers if you haven't played the game:
      The Final World is an afterlife concept based on the idea that people have a soul(their 'Heart'), but that it can also die like their body. That's why it says they only stay there for as long as someone is holding onto them in the real world. Meanwhile, afterwards, they either join Kingdom Hearts and lose their individuality, or their heart is destroyed. In Kingdom Hearts terms, they become one with either the 'light'(Kingdom Hearts, the power flowing through all living things) or darkness(nothingness, the void). Either way, they disappear, their self is destroyed. That's also why the Power of Waking only works on sleeping hearts, not destroyed one. The idea is that you can't revive or heal something that doesn't exist anymore.
      And obviously, it's all a very depressing and nihilistic line of thought to think about that, but it doesn't change that it's clearly what Nomura is trying to portray. All the antagonists have a goal that is essentially their own attempt to survive and avoid such a fate. Xemnas and Ansem make it very clear in their dialogue lines if you simply read into it a little bit.
      "All begins and ends in Darkness"=All begins and ends in nothingness/oblivion.
      "Surely we Nothings are the same...Eternal!"=Xemnas's goal is to stay alive and not be obliterated, and since he's afraid of death, he wishes for the idea of an eternal self to be true for him, even though he believes it's ultimately a fallacy. The Nobodys' goal of regaining their emotions is only a component of their overall goal of staying alive. They are all ultimately pawns in Xehanort's scheme of obtaining the X-Blade, destroying all worlds and creating a new world in its place where light and dark are balanced, one where he basically rules over everyone as a god. He already tried to body-hop and steal Ventus's body once before so he can bypass his old age and achieve his goals, so it seems very likely that he is a Sephiroth style antagonist who wants to be immortal. He's simply much less insane and has a vision for how he'll actually make the new world a better place.
      TLDR, yeah it's more of a depressing theme the more you think about it. All the characters in KH who are not Disney charas have some kind of struggle for survival as part of their core motive and many are very inherently tragic. The reason Nomura does not explain these things in a very explicit way is because it's rated E for everyone, but anyone who reads behind the lines can see just how dark the KH world really is sometimes.

  • @rf_switch

    This entire world's story is exactly how video games ascend as art. The core of it being this interactive experience where you're dealing with death is downright superb for a "kid-friendly" Disney game. Listening to the thoughts of those long lost hearts throughout that section was tough... I mean, the only thing left of them being one final, crucial thought is haunting as it is romantic. A few of those heart's thoughts hit pretty hard. Lots of tears. But thats okay... good tears. "Crying is happy for deep people." It's been upsetting its taken so long for us to finally get to KH3, but honestly? I don't think younger me would have felt so deeply at what this whole section is getting at.

    The Final World
    A place whose bodies have perished but whose hearts are unable to pass on to either Kingdom Hearts or oblivion due to something or someone in the real world having a connection to them and holding on to them preventing them from passing on allowing them a second chance at life.
    Just to clarify everyone, and no, Sora nor Xehanort created this world, it was made at a unknown point in time.
    We all know who the residents where in that place and who most likely held on to them.
    Sora - Presumably held on by Kairi, not explicitly stated but heavily implied, returns to the real world.
    Chirithy - From the cutscenes, it’s presumed that he belongs to Ven as he mentions that his owner doesn’t remember his past. (And since Ven is a part of Union Xcross, we have to wait until we find out why he lost his memories in the first place), he eventually returns to the real world at the end of KH3.
    Namine - It’s currently unknown but presumably Kairi due to being her Nobody. She returns to the real world as a Replica at the end of KH3.
    Nameless Star - This is the most interesting character and since we know it’s a girl, it’s presumably the following three people, Ava, Skuld, or Strelitzia. Ava is unlikely as I doubt she has anyone holding on to her, especially what was hinted in the secret ending. Skuld could be a candidate but is unlikely at the moment (We’ll have to wait for story updates for Union Xcross). Strelitzia however is a very likely candidate and that’s because she does in fact have someone connected to them, Lauriam aka the somebody of Marluxia. Now if we assume that Chirithy is also a lost heart held on by Ven, that means that you don’t need to remember them nor know them to have a connection. If you talk to the other Nameless Stars, one of them (from the dialogue) heavily implies that they were a mother who died in child birth with the baby surviving, of course the baby may not know much about their mother, they are still connected to them however, though the father is a likely candidate. Marluxia doesn’t remember his past (note that The Final World occurs before the second half of the Keyblade Graveyard where you fight Marluxia), but the memory itself is in fact locked away (he of course starts remembering it after being defeated by Sora later on), and if you watch the Union Xcross cutscenes, it shows that Lauriam deeply cares for her going as far as to investigate her disappearance (If he finds out the truth about her “disappearance”, he’s not going to be happy at all). Another hint is what she says to Sora involving how she died, she was struck down by a somebody (who at the moment we do not know). The Nameless Star could be anyone since the name they give to Sora about whose holding on to them shocks him.
    At the moment, we have to wait until more Union Xcross updates and the new ReMind DLC that’s coming.

    • @Wasabi-rs5lv

    This track is beautiful. Reminiscent of Saint-Saens or Ravel. In a way, the Final World to me represents the unfulfilled potential of KH3. This world was like a window into the “true” KH3 story Nomura wanted to tell from the beginning, a meditation on aging and dying and life’s ambitions fulfilled and unfulfilled. It’s a little sad to listen to this piece, because it ReMinds me what this series is capable of when it’s allowed to just be itself. It makes me wistful imagining what KH3’s story might have been if Nomura had more time and resources to allow for more substantial story content.

    This has to be one of my favorite things in KH3. The Final World seems so peaceful, even though it's extremely dark and foreboding. The Final World is a place where people do not want to die...their will (souls) cling onto life. They don't have a body or heart. The music reflects this very well.

    I have a theory that Sora has the ability to create worlds, and this is the first one he ever made, likely at some point long ago. He's shown before that he can, at the very least, manipulate time (he did this twice), it wouldn't surprise me if he's capable of even more.
    The Final World is made of two things; Sea and Sky. Kairi's name means sea. Sora's name means sky. It was that relationship that kept Sora alive. I think he somehow created this world using the connection between himself and Kairi.
    Even if it's not world creation, there is absolutely more to Sora than we know. His ability to derive power from connections is unmatched.

    • @Malnaxe
      @Malnaxe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I absolutely agree with this, and was pretty much thinking the same thing. I noticed that this world is literally a culmination of sky (Sora) and sea (Kairi). One possible sneaky clue towards this theory is the statement "if you can imagine a world, then believe in it and dive in" literally straight outta the toy story trailer...
