I have extremely high frequency tinnitus in both ears. I also have high frequency roll off starting around 2000 Hz. My hearing aids are set to amplify only the high frequencies. They have taken the edge off the tinnitus and make it much more bearable. So, yes, hearing aids can help with tinnitus.
About those veterans with normal earing test, it's probably an hearing loss above 8000hz, as that's the limite of normal hearing test. My hearing test is normal but when I test for 14 000Hz with my own music producing equipment, I have a 25db drop in the "tinnitus ear" vs normal ear (that's the ear that's not covered by my headphones during DJ sets....)
I’m going through all of this for the past year and have a hearing aid that helps very much with tinnitus and hearing loss .I will not stop finding ways to help with all methods.Keep up the research and good luck to ALL!

Thank you! This was very informative for me. It’s taken me a while to understand my hearing loss can be helped with hearing aids. But they will not necessarily get rid or tone down my tinnitus. Thanks again! I may be in touch… ✌️👍

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to change over time through growth and reorganization. Habituation is the process of training the brain to neutralize any negative emotional reaction to the perception of tinnitus.
Hearing aids do not help - tried them. They increase the noise. My eardrum is now convex and not concave. Oh by the way it can be caused by acoustic shock, whether in the army or using headphones for your work. Mine is low frequency. Lucky it doesn't bother her. Why does she say it's fun? Sorry Dr. Ben but mine is 24/7, sorry to crash in to your video.
Hearing aids definitely take the edge off of the tinnitus for me I'm sorry they did not help you :( I don't understand why she says it's "fun" either. Tinnitus sucks.

Hello Dr. Ben. What ‘s neuroplasticity brain habituation? Subjective habituation?
