    Since I worked at a Sephora placed in a basement, I used to take my customers upstairs, to the entrance, where natural light is after the foundation swatches were fully oxydized. If the sun had set, I gave 3-4 samples and I scheduled an appointment whenever they had free time on day time. I was warned-threatened several times NOT to do it in spite of receiving a lot of written congratulations saying "It' s the first time in my life that someone has found my perfect match and has explained me why it didn' t work". I refused to colourmatch inside the store and I ended fired. 😌 I would do it again. 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

      It’s so crazy how the establishments are always like “customers are always right” but when you actually do help the customers with all your heart, you’re not doing your job. I’m so sorry you lost your job for doing something so amazing. It’s their loss honestly🫶🏽

      Commend you for trusting your gut on what to do, because it’s what I use to do at ULTA & Shiseido! Customers want to find their shade to the point they come back k buy it over & over.

    • @CherryJuli
      @CherryJuli ปีที่แล้ว +32

      That’s exactly why I don’t let anybody else color match me. Usually it’s the wrong shade. I once bought a foundation I was color matched to at MAC and when I arrived home I looked like I have a sunburn. The MUA there was sure I must have a pink undertone because I’m fair. I actually have an olive undertone.

    I think minis are really good for people who like to carry their makeup around or even for travel. It’s also an option if you haven’t tried the product before. It’s not just about the price, if you buy the full size and end up not liking it and you don’t have anyone to give it to, that would be so wasteful.

    I actually have to disagree on the minis! Obviously for many people, such as yourself, you use your products daily or at least frequently. I don't wear makeup every day so getting the Laura Mercier powder in a mini saves me money in the long run. Same thing with primers and mascara. I also often grab skin care in the mini if the full size is just way too expensive. Yes I use it everyday but it's much easier to make a smaller purchase. I definitely feel the minis have their place.

And I love the minis… it’s true you’re paying a much higher price per oz but I think I’m not alone with not always finishing full sizes that I buy which creates a lot of waste. If it’s a holy grail product for travel/handbag convenience then I get it though.
    Some products you may not use up quickly enough to warrant buying a full size
    For foundation, get them to give you a sample pot to take home so you can test out the natural lighting & also see how your skin reacts to it (nice way to get a few days of free product 😉)

    The mini mascaras are way better than full size. Every time I buy a full size, I find it dries out way quicker and gets thrown out. Also I've done the repackage full sized items into smaller jars/tubes/containers thing, and I've had a few of them burst or leak in the zip lock bag. Minis are definitely worth it, what is the last time you used up a full lipstick? If you switch a couple of shades or use some only every now and then, mini is surely a better option. Also, mascaras are best to try out as minis, if they work, you can repurchase but I like to keep them travel-size, plus you have better control of application. Also, not everyone is using blush or highlight every day, I've had an hourglass mini for forever now, would never be able to use the full size.

    I know that some of these stores can be crazy. Most of the time you are underpaid and overworked and being treated like crap by management and customers. Even though I’ve had a different experience, I’ve worked at enough places in general to know that not every location is the same. Bringing your common knowledge and common sense to a location helps better some of their issues if you apply them. The Sephora near me is very clean and their lights have changed. I never get my make up done there so I can’t speak for the cleanliness but I did work at a couple Bloomingdale’s locations and I know they are serious about hygiene. It just depends on the location and how much people care, which sucks.

    TBH if you do the math, mascara minis are often a better value than the full size versions.

  • @user-me22
    @user-me22 ปีที่แล้ว

    i think for the minis it depends on the product. If it’s just something you want to try or know you will use very little of sometimes it works out better even if the cost per unit is more.

    But the minis are my fave XD I never finish a full sized product before it expires. I don’t wear makeup enough. And I like to travel and be able to take everything with me as is.

    I peeped the Too Faced Hangover on the mini shelf at the end, their 3 in 1 setting spray is the GOAT. Don’t let anyone tell you different. 👀

    I load up alcohol on one of the cotton rounds, clean the makeup remover lid, and then use a new round (from the middle of the pack) to wipe off my HAND. Who puts public makeup on their FaCe?!? Also, why doesn't Sephora have a 1/2 dishwasher in the back to put all the plastic tubs in?

  • @Rebecca_Zhang
    @Rebecca_Zhang ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Have to say the minis may not be the best value buy but if you are not going to be using that much product anyways it is pretty good especially if you have a hard time finishing products

    • @conquistadorrocket
      @conquistadorrocket ปีที่แล้ว

      exactly! every full sized mascara dries up or expires on me before I get a chance to use it all up. I'd say that's a worse deal than the mini which I finish no problem.

  • @jenniferh2633
    @jenniferh2633 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mini mascaras are actually alright. Easier to hold and don’t dry up before the tube is empty.

  • @TheCarnivoreSoprano
    @TheCarnivoreSoprano ปีที่แล้ว

    Minis are just to test a product so it's fine. I don't use the testers or anything anyway so there's that. And it's important to test a foundation on your own

    I love the lighting in Sephora as far as the aesthetic, but no for my actual shopping. Whenever I pick up lipsticks to look at I have to move to various areas to see it under different lighting. I hate spending money on colors that look nothing like they do in store.

    I agree with the foundation thing. I treated myself to a new, pricey ($65) foundation for my 50th birthday this year. It matched perfectly in store. Once in natural light, it was too light. Hoping by midwinter it's a match. On the other hand, when I was matched in Ulta for a different foundation, it was the right shade in natural light as well.

    with the mini’s i prefer spending the extra money on mascaras. mascara should be used within 6 months and i personally can’t finish a big tub in 6 months so i prefer the mini versions, less waste product!!

  • @tatianapolanco2115
    @tatianapolanco2115 ปีที่แล้ว

    I always ask for foundation samples at Sephora, rather than going outside to shade check and come right back in to buy. I get quite a few uses and am able to see it in different lighting and see how it performs, too.

    Stores in my opinion (all of them) have horrible lighting to make you buy more. I can't tell you how many times a product looked different in store and out. I bought a blush from revolution that loomed awesome in store. But it turns out it's very pink and doesn't suit me at all. In the store (it had dimmer lights and more of a warm shade) the blush looked more orangy coral but on the skin at home with sunlight. It looks pink coral. And with pink blush I either look cold or dead because I have more of a yellow warm undertone. So neutral leaning red/warm blushes look amazing on me. Youthful, and alive.
