My experience is traveling with little ones is much easier than when the get a little older. We took our daughter on her first back pack trip when she was 6 weeks old in 1975. Back then the baby carers were much more limited than today. She was in a simple Gerry sling. She slept as long as I was hiking and woke when I stopped. Great trip and even better memories now. Enjoy your new crew member she will grow up so fast.

I have a five month old granddaughter. I had my daughter Teah at 25 and my daughter has just had her daughter Emma, at 21. I’m still young and you think you’ll remember everything but you don’t. You forget the things that you think are unforgettable like the date of the first teeth coming through or falling out so I would suggest to record everything as we are blessed with mobiles now that can do it all for us. Date stamps are so important. Congratulations on your first sail as a family, your lives will be so much richer with innocence and wonder again and so much love you’ll think that you’ll burst at times. Falling in love with our babies is a blessing we are lucky and fortunate to have in our lives. Best wishes. 🎐🎐🎐

Loved the video. We sailed with our daughter from the womb to the wedding. She still loves sailing and it is the first thing she asks for when she visits. Some of the easiest times were the first year when she was content to be strapped into the car seat. I would tie her car seat's carrier handle to the overhead hand rails. Gimbaled Baby (party dance!) When we are faced with the conditions you had outbound with the wind on the nose and somewhere to get to we always motor sail. Roll out about 20% to 30% of the staysail and sheet it tight. Then fall off just enough to fill the sail and motor on. The boat speed will increase significantly and the motion will steady out. We first discovered this in our 30 footer with 30 knots of wind on the nose and 60 miles of fetch with only 50' of depth. before rolling out the bit of jib, we could only make less than 2 knots under full power and the slamming was horrific. I rolled out 6' of jib and fell off 10º to 15º and the boat speed when to 7.1-knots. The ride was good enough that my teenage daughter went down and took a nap in the v-berth.
In Sweden and Denmark you will find a pizza restaurant and/or take-away on every other corner...most common take-away side by side to burgers...our traditional foods don’t do really well as take-away....

RAN II handled her bow into the waves like a beast!! Then you had a chance to run the sails up on the way home. Then fireworks for the end of the day. Not a bad day even with the unexpected hiccup. As for New Years day food . . . its Pork and sauerkraut for my family in central Pennsylvania
I must admit I was a little worried when I read the video title, I thought something had gone really wrong but was glad to see it was just the marina been closed. Good on you guys taking RAN11 out despite the 25mph wind and steep chop on the sea, a lot of people would not try until the weather was just perfect but you and RAN11 had no problem with it. I still cant get over the condition of the boat for its age, a beautiful looking yacht and everything about her just looks high quality. A warning though guys in about 3 or 4 years you know who will be Rans,s captain, she will make sure you are ship shape..lol.

Johan, I use a product called Rain X.. it is applied to the windows like a polish. if you buff it on with a cloth then your windows will stay clear of the water droplets. i use it on my semi truck and don't need to use my wipers in the rain. you can also use it on the vinyl. excellent videos!
In Newfoundland, on New Years Day, we prepare and eat: cooked turkey with dressing, boiled salt beef, rutabaga, carrot, potato, and cabbage; with a side of cranberry sauce. There are left overs for a few days for turkey soup and/ or sandwiches and hash (fried vegetables

Gotta love that glass windshield. By the way; it is said in maritime superstition that it is bad luck to name a boat as a II or III, i.e. RAN II. I have owned two Cape Dory sailboats and both were named Indigo. If you like the name, just reuse it. Cheers. Love your VLOG. Saw you anchored in Aquatic park and would have liked to meet you. Definitely see the size difference between RAN I and the new boat. When you shoot down the companionway it's really obvious and when you see the size of galley and saloon it's very noticeable too. Looks VERY comfortable!
Every time I watch videos with Ran II it looks like the boat has just had a stem to stern refit. From watching other sailing videos, I’ve noticed that the great Volvo engines seem to have a weakness. The electronic modules seem to fail suddenly so I’d carry several backups for everything, because when they fail the engine quits and you can’t fix it. 😎

Most vessels return to their home port after a shake-down cruise. At least they hope to. It sounds like yours performed all sea trials with no drama. Cool, and Happy New Decade with your new family.

Maybe a gimbled play pen or cradle is in order. Ha ha ha.... She looks so peaceful sleeping there on the floor. As for turning around, don't look at it as bad luck. View the trip as a 'shake down' cruise. You know. Testing out the systems. And with some moderately rough sea and the baby slept through it.. The vessel is good. Sound and stable. Ready to give you guys another year of adventure and good sailing. And if I might suggest something for the Isinglass... Find a bar of Ivory Soap.. or something similar.. perhaps a bar of home made lard soap. And use it as maintenance to keep the zippers lubricated. Rub on the seems of the stitching around the zippers also. You will be amazed at how easy the zippers work and it will also add longevity to the stitching and seems at the zippers. Good luck and waiting to see the first actual sail on your new 'LUXURY' yaht.
Sauerkraut is the tradition here in our part of the US. However I really like your tradition. That pizza looked awesome. I am on a low carb diet so it looked really really good. Love the new boat. I hope she always takes care of all of you as I know you will of her. Thanks for sharing. Cheers

Actually ... smack bang in the middle of Copenhagen. The fireworks display over CPH would have been as wonderful, but without the inebriated youth.
