Yeah when I was a kid I guess you could say I was a fringe fan of garage rock until I really dove down the rabbit hole and when I discovered there were so many garage rockers from not only the 60’s but also the 80’s and beyond! And the garage comps are a killer way to collect great garage music as the singles for most of the obscure stuff is so hard to find and it’s super expensive So I do have a lot of comps! Very cool show as usual, I’ve seen that Standells before but always bad copies. I’ve never seen that Third Bardo, but I’ve heard them on comps. The Count Five drove around in a hearst also, I think they broke up because they were too young. The Monks look cool. I love both of the Music Machine albums. Peace.
Hey Big Dave! Yeah I see the Standells albums around occasionally but good copies are hard to find without a bucket of cash! That Third Bardo EP was a lucky find at a local RS for a ten spot! I love it Wish they’d have done more but the radio stopped playing their stuff due to it being too druggy! Haha! I love when bands do stuff like the Count 5 wearing capes and driving a hearse So awesome! And the Monks took the look and sound to a whole new level! Music Machine rules! Thanks Dave! ✨✌️👽✨
Thank you Cos for bringing light to the often overlooked greatest period in American teen culture. Virtually every neighborhood in North America had at last one garage band. We had local high school guys come to our junior school back in 66/67 and play Beatles , Stones, Kinks tunes while dressed in suits and growing their hair over their ears. Little over a year later they were all hippies, looking more freak like and playing more outrageous garage/psych. One of the guys in The Haunted went on to become the newsreader on local Montreal television. I have an original first pressing of their classic 45 "1-2-5" with misprinted name "The Hunted". The Haunted album from 1967 is so rare that good copies command upwards of $5,000 dollars these days. BTW check out late period Music Machine 45 'Eagle Never Hunts The Fly" for some extra heavy garage/psych sounds. Cheers.

And they were all wearing cop uniforms! It was mindblowing to see as young teenager! So cool! Yeah I love garage punk! I’ve been turned onto some great ones by guys like Garner at Born Outta Time and Ben Rankins and many more! Just so raw and full of bad attitude That’s the stuff great RnR was built on! The Third Bardo EP is killer, the Cramps covered 5 Years Ahead of my Time. Love those Haunted LPs I have both volumes, amazing stuff. Not familiar to the Preachers and We The People. The Standells are part of the Holy trinity of Garage Rock, which also includes Shadows of Knight and the Seeds. Psychotic Reaction is a classic, great album, as is 96 Tears. I've never listened to the Monks, but I did see that doc you mentioned. I'll probably end up getting one of their albums at some point. Got that Groupies LP, great stuff, but I still prefer the Cramps version of Primitive. Love these albums you show Brian, your taste in garage rock is exquisite!🥴😵😵💫

The Count Five is a must-have! I was first introduced to them through Mojo magazine and one of their sampler cd's. I also don't collect alot of 10"'s. I've only shown one (Gino & The Goons) on my show. Sweet Batman shirt! Probably the coolest one I've ever seen. I really need to collect alot more of this kind of music! Damn! Garage rock! Now yr talking my language!! Just what the hungry earhole ordered! I've got The Haunted '1-2-5' and The Groupies 'Primitive' on compilations but never heard a whole album of those bands... WE THE PEOPLE is one of my all-time favorite garage rock bands, ever since I first heard the song 'When I Arrive'. I have the French bootleg on EVA records and the Sundazed double CD of all their stuff. In the 70s We The People's Tom Talton played with The Allman Brothers and had his own country-rock band called Cowboy. I have that Third Bardo 10" but mine has a different cover. I have an AKARMA pressing of that Count Five album. Ever read Lester Bangs' epic screed about The Count Five? Listen to Psychotic Reaction and I'm A Man by The Yardbirds back to back. Same jam section in the middle. When I was 8 or 9 years old an uncle gifted me a box of records that included 96 Tears, and I still have that same copy. I have that same Monks record. Roots of punk, but so much more... It's Black Monk Time with a couple of extra tracks. Their song "I Hate You" can be heard in The Big Lebowski. Best for last indeed with The Music Machine. Their second album on Warner Bros had all original songs Anyway, keep bringing the rock and roll - talk to ya later
Dude I am a big garage rock fan! I have a pretty formidable collection of garage bands and comps! Yeah those Haunted LPs on Voxx are awesome and cheap compared to anything original by then! Man I totally agree about We the People! They are a banging garage band! I love the tune “When I Arrive”! I dig that whole album! We the People are one of the best garage outfits I’ve heard! I also scored a copy of a band called Zakary Thaks who are another 60’s garage act and they’re damn good too! I will def check out the thing with Lester Bangs and Count 5! That Music Machine album has too many covers and his vocals can be annoying. The expanded CD versions have demos that he sings in his normal voice. They are great.

I've got The Haunted '1-2-5' and The Groupies 'Primitive' on compilations but never heard a whole album of those bands...
WE THE PEOPLE is one of my all-time favorite garage rock bands, ever since I first heard the song 'When I Arrive'. I have the French bootleg on EVA records and the Sundazed double CD of all their stuff. In the 70s We The People's Tom Talton played with The Allman Brothers and had his own country-rock band called Cowboy.
I have that Third Bardo 10" but mine has a different cover.
I have an AKARMA pressing of that Count Five album. Ever read Lester Bangs' epic screed about The Count Five?

When I was 8 or 9 years old an uncle gifted me a box of records that included 96 Tears, and I still have that same copy.
I have that same Monks record. Roots of punk, but so much more... It's Black Monk Time with a couple of extra tracks. Their song "I Hate You" can be heard in The Big Lebowski.
Best for last indeed with The Music Machine. Their second album on Warner Bros had all original songs

Dude I am a big garage rock fan! I have a pretty formidable collection of garage bands and comps! Yeah those Haunted LPs on Voxx are awesome and cheap compared to anything original by then! Man I totally agree about We the People! They are a banging garage band! I love the tune “When I Arrive”! I dig that whole album! We the People are one of the best garage outfits I’ve heard! I also scored a copy of a band called Zakary Thaks who are another 60’s garage act and they’re damn good too! I will def check out the thing with Lester Bangs and Count 5! Music Machine are among the top garage groups in my book! Love the vocal! I need to get my hands on Bonniwell Music Machine! Love it! Thanks for tuning in wild man! ✨✌️👽✨

Almost everything on Voxx is good. I’m not familiar with Beat Rocket. I need to check out The Monks. I’m not familiar with the Groupies. That Music Machine album has too many covers and his vocals can be annoying. The expanded CD versions have demos that he sings in his normal voice. They are great.

The Haunted is classic but what entity in their right mind would cut-out one of their top LPs with a cut corner - that's bizarre in itself! ...Where's your priest collar?? ...ah, yes, my friend - the greatest Standells album IMO - found me a NM copy earlier this year! The Ohio Express also did a great version of "Try It" on Cameo Records - I think it was the original recorded version... Count Five! Do you have any of their non-LP 45s? All really cool also! ...same with The Music Machine - several rare non-LP 45s exist!

I had a rough day yesterday Got pulled over by the law and scored myself a stack of tickets for all kinds of made up traffic charges so now I have to go to court to get them expunged. So I decided to get ripped and stoned to the begeezus to quell my anger and sadness! So yeah you can say I was swaying in the breeze! Did I show an album with a cut corner? I surely wouldn’t have cut it LoL! I really dig the Standells! And I believe I have that Ohio Express album on Cameo. It’s the Beg Borrow & Steal LP! I think I dig both garage and bubblegum rock as they’re like cousins! Haha! 🫧🎸 I do not have any Count Five 45’s Wish I did!
