- When Mikey Alfred of @illegalciv announced his plans to make a feature film, critics thought he was crazy. The notion that Illegal Civ was could make a full-length film after only creating skate videos and short movies specifically for TH-cam, fueled the doubters. Then Mikey and IC finished NORTH HOLLYWOOD and the project snowballed: it was fully backed by the community and championed by the likes of @Pharrell and @TonyHawk. The single greatest thing a 10-15 year old could do for their future is creating videos together with their friends and publishing it on TH-cam. You will not only gain a following and earn money, but you will have documented some of the best times of your life.
Every time I watch Illegal Civ I think about that. Building a brand and reaching success with your close friends is probably a wonderful feeling.

So true! Me and all my friends would do videos all day from 11 - 14 and we lost everything when all our cards and tapes got destroyed. I honestly would do a lot of shit to get those back. Back then we would either Film with old Sony cams or with the first shitty phone cams. Tons of stuff that could have been uploaded in the golden era of YT. Kids nowadays nearly all have phones with crazy cameras. Make as much videos in your youth as you can with your friends. It doesn’t even have to be skate related or something. Just anything you do. Even hanging out. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Movie was mid by I love the passion so much. There is so much eye candy for skaters to recognize the people in the movie. From a skater standpoint this movie is amazing but from like a movie spectator standpoint it's pretty mediocre.
Edit: I'd say the best part of the movie was cinematography but the writing definitely needed work. I would love to see them do a doctor's cut and maybe fix up the pacing
