- This video shows quite a few practice dives at Red Rock Canyon, Nevada. Flying with the DJI FPV Drone and recording with the DJI Action 2 piggyback camera set to 4K/30. Includes a lot of discussion on what I have learned diving these mountains, what works and what does not. Also a lot of talk about the DJI FPV Drone itself and its performance. I recenty purchased the GEPRC MOZ7 HD O3 Long Range FPV so a little discussion of what I expect when it arives.
It always amazes me that a drone doesnt fall like a rock going straight down with the throttle chopped...
Yeah, that surprises me too! The props still spin at idle so I guess they create a lot of drag. I do notice though that the DJI FPV drone fly's a bit faster than most other drones in dives....
Thanks for the tips, great flying, and awesome scenery!
Much appreciated!
Excellent video, and excellent flying. Thank you.
Thanks Doug, glad you liked it
Great video. I thought about the moz7 but im fearful of beta flight .guess that's why i got the fpv drone. Cant wait to see your videos on the moz.
I'll let you know how the beta flight thing goes, might video it to show how it goes for a beginner with betaflight. I'm a little Leary of landing the thing, probably practice on a tarp cause way too many rocks out here in the desert. One guy on TH-cam kills the motors and catches it, that looks like the way to go if I can do it.
@@thecuriousnomad4712 thats Danny Mcgee! great videos!
@@gasquetmike8320 Yep, that's the guy! He travels to awesome places!
Flight 3 today. Dang this thing is fast!
Yep! Wait till you put in in M mode........ scary fast!
@@thecuriousnomad4712 M mode is all I've done! Hey Jim it says audio in the goggles so i turned it on and sure enough it recorded audio? where the mic located? I cant find any info on that at all?
@@gasquetmike8320 Sorry Mike, no idea where the mic is located, must be internal
Great flights and commentary! How many dives do you get per charge? When I flew R/C planes I used my thumb and index finger.
Thanks. I have tried to use thumb and index finger before but never stuck with it. The twitching fingers forced me to switch! I still just use thumbs when flying RC planes though
Usually 2 dives per charge/flight. Around half of the flying time is spent just getting to and from the mountqin top! I have 3 batteries so around 6 dives each time I head out there but it is only 10 miles from home
Jim what transmission setting are you on for the best signal strength? Ive noticed the FPV drone starting to lose signal pretty close the few times i have flown it.
Mike, I'm just using the Auto setting, I have never tried any of the manual settings. The goggles video strength usually weakens more than the RC strength but so long as good LOS is maintained it usually stays strong to at least 1.5 miles out. At that distance I start to watch it pretty close but I have reached almost 3 miles with no disconnect. All my disconnects (I have had dozens) only happen when I loose LOS or get too low to the ground
We have days of incredible connection and then it'll go to crap the next day. Strange.
