Staying at Devil's Backbone Adventure Resort & ATV's on Hatfield McCoy Trails

- If you've followed the channel for any length of time, you know we frequently do ATV travels in Michigan. For this trip, we decided since it was so cold still up north, we would head south and go visit West Virginia and the Hatfield McCoy trail system.
I will say, compared to the sand trails of Michigan, these for sure beat my body more, but that could have a lot to do with the equipment I'm using as well. I'm sure something that wasn't 24 years old would have been a way smoother ride.
One thing about these trails is that you're never at a loss for a beautiful view. The mountains of West Virginia never disappointed, even though we did get rained out of our second day of riding.
Come along with us as we visit the Hatfield McCoy trail system.

Cool video. It’s on my list to ride ATVs up there. Maybe next year

you sure dont see many Banshees on the hatfield mccoy trails ! Well done for doing so though ! We were there in April ....came from ontario .
Nope, you really don’t see too many quads these days since side by sides have become so popular, but I figured my banshee would be a smoother ride than my 1996 300 4X4, so picked the less of the two evils. It did ok, but still beat me to death. The camera footage makes it look smooth but it sure didn’t feel any kind of smooth. Maybe I’m just too old now.
@Weekend Scampers lol...ya it probably would be better than the old 300 but im sure it was still rough. We made that comment about others even on newer atvs that it would be a rough ride in sections
@@DonsATVAdventures I guess I’ll stick with the old school stuff then if the new stuff is rough too. Hard to justify the new toys when I only get out on them 2-3X a year.
@Weekend Scampers oh trust me the newer atvs are smoother than your old 300...lol.... but just meaning some the rockier trails down there would still be rough on any atv. I also have a 19 Yamaha Grizzly and love the ride but on a long rough ride i definitely prefer driving my Yamaha Rmax sxs.
Shoulda went to starters in Williamson ! Reallly good food there and drinks lol
We would have liked to have more time but work got in the way of life and we didn’t have much time to plan our routes or explore more than a day and a half of so. It’s for sure a place you could spend a week at.
Are full face helmets required or can I use my half motorcycle helmet. It's just too hot for full face imo.

I really don’t think there’s any specific kind of helmet required, just a helmet. I just wear closed face when I’m on the trails cause if I’m with a group we’re normally kicking up a lot of dust and I don’t like to get dirt on my face cause when I sweat it becomes mud.
It would for sure be nice having the ventilation of an open face though. There might be something on the website if you look there, but I don’t remember seeing anything.
