Wouldn't imposing tariffs on Canada and Mexico be a violation of the North American Free Trade agreement Trump negotiated when he was in office before?
Tariffs WILL kill the American economy and American manufacturers because many of raw materials and foods come from China, Mexico and Canada. USA will be the main loser. Looking at the items consumers buy shows how the import tax proposed by Trump would directly affect the cost of living for the typical U.S. household: The tax on food would be $90. The tax on pharmaceutical drugs would be $90. The tax on cars, auto parts, and other vehicles-including the inputs used to make them-would be $220. The tax on clothing would be $70, and the tax on electronics would be $80. The tax on imported oil and petroleum products would be $120.
90%+ illegal guns in Canadian criminal hands come from the states. 70%+ of the illegal guns in Central America, South America and the Caribbean come from the USA. Who is really damaging who in this scenario?
40% of the oil the USA uses comes from Canada .. a 25% tariff on 7,000,000 barrels of Canadian imported daily will definitely increase the price of gas for the US consumer ..
No it won't. The Canadian oil is the poorest quality in the world. Only a few refineries can even process it in the USA. Canadian crude sells for half what WTI sells for. And since the USA is the world's largest oil producer, that tariff would simply give the US an excuse to buy oil elsewhere. Send it to China.
The Canadian oil is the worst grade in the world and sells for half the price of American oil. The American refineries would gladly bypass oil from the tar sands of Alberta.
Charge Mexico and Canada a 25% tariff? lol. The people being charged with tariffs are American consumers. Those countries aren't being charged a tariff, Donald
If Trump deregulates, you won't need big corps, you'll be able to make your own products in your garage without govt regulators looking over your shoulder every step of the way.

Slapping a 60% tariff on Chinese goods doesn't mean more jobs for America, it means 90% of the manufacturing would still be done in a Chinese factory, then the parts assembled in another factory in Vietnam, India, Malaysia etc. This is not speculation, it's already common practice.

As a Canadian there is another option for our companies that export goods to America. They can instead reduce their reliance on exports to the United States and instead export their goods to other markets such as the EU,Asia,Central America and South America. The implementation of the 25% tariffs combined with the concentration camps for mass deportation will destroy the American economy. The other point of note regarding tariffs specifically on the automotive manufacturers, many vehicles cross the boarder from either Canada or Mexico multiple times before final assembly. That is why a percentage is used to determine where a product is manufacturered.
Canada exports $450 billion to the US every year. Their next biggest customer is China at $25 billion. Without US exports Canada's economy collapses. That is the reality. The rest of the world isn't big enough to cover that loss. Tariffs and domestic tax cuts go hand in hand.

This will certainly increase the cost of living in the U.S., if implemented. 90% of U.S. imports of electricity come from Canada. A very significant amount of produce comes from Mexico. 60% of U.S. oil imports come from Canada (recognizing it is cheaper for the American consumer to purchase gasoline refined from Canadian oil with a stronger USD). The Yukon is the largest North American supplier of heavy rare earth metals needed for complex electronics (medical technology, telecommunications and in particular...military weapons systems...with China having the largest supply of these globally). A lot of beef is also imported from Canada, as is feed grain. Soft wood lumbar from Canada for housing ...and so on and so on. Also, when the retaliatory tariffs come, there will be massive job losses in various sectors dependent on export markets, chief among these being agricultural products from Tennessee, Iowa, Nebraska and others.

A 25% tariff on imports from Mexico, Canada, and others, combined with the deportation of all undocumented immigrants, would unleash economic chaos that Millennials, Gen Z, and future generations would be cleaning up for decades. Let’s start with the tariffs-because who doesn’t love paying more for everything? Mexico is a critical trading partner, sending the U.S. about 733,000 barrels of oil per day in 2023, accounting for 9.6% of total imports (Reuters). Why? Because U.S. refineries need Mexico’s heavy crude to mix with our light crude, like the PB&J of the oil world. Slap a tariff on that, and refining costs skyrocket, gas prices soar, and suddenly, a road trip feels like you’re trying to fuel up a private jet. That’s just oil. Mexico also supplies a huge portion of the produce we eat-fruits, vegetables, and all those ingredients we toss into our overpriced smoothies. A 25% tariff would jack up produce prices by 5-6% (University of California). That avocado toast we Millennials get roasted for? It’s about to cost more than your monthly student loan payment. Electronics? Get ready to upgrade your smartphone every 15 years, because tariffs on components from Mexico and China would make gadgets unaffordable. The next iPhone won’t just be expensive; it’ll require a GoFundMe campaign. Cars? Oh, hope you like walking. Tariffs on auto parts would add thousands to the price of vehicles. Suddenly, that new sedan is looking like a luxury yacht. And don’t think other countries will take these tariffs lying down. Retaliatory tariffs would hit U.S. exports-soybeans, beef, and machinery-crippling farmers and manufacturers who are already dealing with enough economic whiplash to last a lifetime. Now let’s talk about the pièce de résistance: deporting all undocumented immigrants. That’s about 11 million people, 7.6 million of whom are part of the workforce (Migration Policy Institute). They make up 4.4% of the labor force, and they’re concentrated in industries we rely on daily. Agriculture? They’re 50% of the farm labor force. Deport them, and who’s picking your strawberries? Robots? Nope. Those fields will go unpicked, prices will spike, and your fruit salad will feel like an investment portfolio. Construction? Say goodbye to affordable housing. About 15% of construction workers are undocumented, and removing them would delay projects, increase costs, and turn that kitchen remodel into a distant dream. Hospitality? Hotels and restaurants would struggle to stay open, jacking up prices for everything from your morning latte to your weekend getaway. Deportation isn’t cheap either. Each removal costs $10,854 (ICE), so deporting 11 million people would cost $119.4 billion-yes, billion with a B. That doesn’t even include detention, legal fees, or enforcement expansion. Meanwhile, undocumented immigrants contribute $12 billion annually in taxes (Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy). Deport them, and that revenue disappears faster than a paycheck in the hands of a Millennial paying rent. Oh, and consumer spending? Say goodbye to that too, because undocumented workers are also consumers, supporting local economies with their purchases. Deporting them would leave businesses scrambling for customers. For Millennials, these policies would hit like a one-two punch. This generation has already endured the Great Recession, stagnant wages, student debt, and the pandemic. Just as Millennials are finally starting to buy homes, tariffs and labor shortages would drive up construction costs by 15-20%, making homeownership even more out of reach. Renting would become a lifetime sentence, with landlords laughing all the way to the bank. Grocery bills? Those will keep climbing as tariffs and deportations gut the agricultural workforce. Millennials, known for their tech-savvy lifestyles, would see the cost of electronics soar, leaving them rationing their phone upgrades like a dystopian sci-fi plot. And inflation? Millennials have been battling it for years, but these policies would supercharge it, eroding their purchasing power even further. For Gen Z, the future looks even bleaker. Entering the workforce in a post-tariff, post-deportation economy means dealing with labor shortages, slower job growth, and sky-high costs. College students who rely on part-time jobs in retail or food service might find those positions replaced by automation because companies can’t afford the rising wages caused by labor shortages. And Gen Z’s commitment to fighting climate change? That battle would get tougher, as disruptions in agriculture and trade lead to inefficiencies and higher emissions. Food insecurity and environmental degradation would become major concerns, leaving Gen Z to wonder if their avocado toast dreams were ever realistic. For future generations, the ripple effects would be undeniable. Deportation costs and GDP losses-$1.6 trillion over 10 years (Center for American Progress)-would saddle future taxpayers with the bill. Slower economic growth and reduced innovation would leave the next generation inheriting a weaker economy, while polarization caused by these policies would deepen societal divides. Gen Alpha, the kids growing up today, might look back at these decisions and think, “What were they thinking?” In conclusion, the combination of tariffs and mass deportations would cripple the U.S. economy and create a legacy of higher costs, labor shortages, and reduced opportunities for Millennials, Gen Z, and beyond. For a generation already defined by crises, this would be another chapter in the book of “What Could Go Wrong?” Millennials might adapt, as they always do, but at what cost? Gen Z and Gen Alpha would be left to pick up the pieces, trying to rebuild an economy shaped by short-sighted policies and avoidable mistakes. Maybe we should think twice before turning the economy into guacamole-mashed, overpriced, and impossible to fix.
Ah, the deregulation game-the ultimate “free-for-all” that’s less about freeing anyone and more about setting corporations loose like kids in a candy store. Except instead of candy, it’s tax breaks, loosened environmental rules, and workplace policies so flexible they might as well be non-existent. Let’s talk about how Trump-era deregulation policies tackled everything from climate change to workers’ rights, treating these issues with the same care you’d give a piñata at a toddler’s birthday party: smash it and hope for candy. Spoiler: no candy. Just a lot of cleanup. First up, climate change. Remember those environmental protections? Yeah, deregulation took one look at the Clean Power Plan and said, “Nah, we don’t need that. Let’s crank up the emissions and see what happens!” Trump rolled back over 100 environmental rules, including limits on methane emissions, fuel efficiency standards, and protections for water quality (Harvard Law, 2021). Why? Because oil and gas companies needed a hug, apparently. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge got tossed into the mix too, with plans to open it up for drilling. Yes, nothing screams “future generations” like trading polar bears for pipelines. And those rollbacks on methane? That’s like leaving the door open during a gas leak and saying, “What’s the worst that could happen?” Fun fact: Methane is 25 times more potent as a greenhouse gas than CO₂, so that rollback alone cranked the heat on the ol’ climate crisis. But let’s not stop there. Deregulation didn’t just harm the planet-it also put workers in the crosshairs. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) saw budget cuts that reduced inspections by 25% (Center for Public Integrity, 2020). Translation? Fewer checks on unsafe working conditions. It’s like saying, “Hey, maybe that ladder made of duct tape and hope will hold!” Oh, and those pesky rules about toxic chemicals in the workplace? Loosened. Because nothing says “job satisfaction” like inhaling carcinogens on the clock. Now let’s talk wages. The Trump administration made sure to keep the minimum wage where it’s been since 2009: $7.25 an hour. Adjusted for inflation, that’s about as effective as trying to fill your gas tank with spare change. Meanwhile, corporate profits soared thanks to tax cuts that slashed the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21% (Tax Policy Center, 2019). Workers? They got crumbs. CEOs? They got yachts, bonuses, and probably a nice new island somewhere. Deregulation also chipped away at overtime protections, narrowing the pool of workers eligible for time-and-a-half pay. So now you’re working longer hours for the same sad paycheck. Progress! And let’s not forget the gig economy. Workers’ rights there were already thinner than a gas station burrito, but deregulation somehow made it worse. By loosening rules on what constitutes an employee versus a contractor, companies like Uber and DoorDash got to avoid offering benefits, sick leave, or even job security. Gig workers? They’re out there hustling, but they’re still footing their own health insurance bill and wondering if their car will last another 10,000 miles. Now, Millennials and Gen Z, here’s where it hits home. Deregulation has consequences that don’t just stay in the boardroom-they ripple through every facet of life. Millennials, already drowning in student debt, are watching housing costs soar, partly because deregulation allows developers to prioritize profits over affordable housing. And climate deregulation? That’s a special kind of betrayal for Gen Z, who are the most eco-conscious generation yet. These rollbacks mean more emissions, rising sea levels, and a future where Florida might become Atlantis. In 10 years, the next generation-Gen Alpha-will inherit a world shaped by these policies. They’ll face hotter summers, more extreme weather, and economic inequality that looks like it was pulled straight from a dystopian novel. Deregulation’s short-term profits for corporations mean long-term costs for everyone else. It’s like trading your brakes for a faster engine. Sure, you’re speeding ahead now, but that cliff? It’s coming up quick. In conclusion, Trump-era deregulation was a masterclass in prioritizing corporate interests over the environment, workers, and future generations. Environmental rollbacks supercharged climate change. Cuts to worker protections made already difficult jobs even more dangerous. Wage stagnation widened the gap between CEOs and the workforce. And the gig economy became the poster child for “work harder, earn less.” Deregulation didn’t just bend the rules; it shattered them, leaving Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha to clean up the mess. So here’s a thought: maybe it’s time we put the brakes on the deregulation train before we all end up paying the price. After all, the planet doesn’t come with a refund policy, and neither does your paycheck.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the agency has seized 43 lbs of fentanyl at the Canada-U.S. border in the last year, excluding October, compared to 21,148 lbs at its southern border with Mexico in the same time period. And, data obtained by the Cato Institute - citing information obtained through a freedom of information request - states 80 per cent of the individuals caught with fentanyl during border crossings at ports of entry from 2019 to 2024 were U.S. citizens. So the tariffs on Canada are 100% bullshit over a non-issue. I am really starting to believe these are the early steps being taken to potentially lead to an invasion of Canada. And then were astounded that others did the same especially the British who introduced Imperial Preference, which allowed tariff free trade between members of the British Empire, and selected other nations like Argentina. This worked far better than the American Act and along with some harsh but sensible policies, ensured that Britain at least was basically over the worst of the depression within three years and well on the way to total recovery in six. America however under the leadership of another populist, was still stuck in depression and was actually getting worse up until the outbreak of WWII, in 1939. As others have pointed out it’s not the exporters who pay for the tariffs, it’s the eventual consumer, who is bound to be an American.

Vehicle production will be especially hit hard as many components are not available in the U.S.. Aluminium is something that Canada makes very efficiently and is in lots of things.

Gen Alpha, the kids growing up today, might look back at these decisions and think, “What were they thinking?”
In conclusion, the combination of tariffs and mass deportations would cripple the U.S. economy and create a legacy of higher costs, labor shortages, and reduced opportunities for Millennials, Gen Z, and beyond.
Well said, my friend!!! WELL F**KIN SAID!!!!
Bro typed an essay lmao. Go outside and touch grass
Good point, AI will replace a lot of menial service economy jobs.
John Bolton related a conversation he overheard between Trump and prime minister Teresa May when Trump visited the U.K. in which the subject of nuclear weapons cropped up. Trump said " Oh, you have nuclear weapons? " The man is so ignorant he didn't even know the U.K. has nukes. Among other things, it also came out he didn't know the difference between the Baltic and the Balkans, didn't know Northern Ireland was part of the U.K., confused WWI with WWII, and was totally clueless about what Brexit was. Trump also said accelerated climate change was a hoax and the scientists are lying to get rich. It's also been reported he talked to Putin on the telephone and had asked him if he should send weapons to Ukraine! OMG. WTF, he asked Putin that! Anyway, Trump's about to wreck the U.S. economy with his tariffs. Trump thinks he knows more than every economist. Brace for impact. Watch your savings melt away. You voted for this clown.
That's the least of the criticisms I have for Trump and I still support him. Listen to him talk for five minutes, and you know he's not big on the details. Not a single person in the US should even find it surprising that Trump doesn't know any of the things you listed. The fact that you're shocked, makes me wonder if you're as dumb as he is?
The criticisms conservatives have for these specialists is that they are financially motivated to lie. They'd be ruined if they went against the liberals because it's the liberals funding them. There's a massive amount of corruption in the sciences. Demonstrable corruption.
Next time you look at a scientific research paper, look for a methodology report. If it's not there, the paper is a scam. Liberals pay them to write a trash study, publish it where no one who knows what they're doing will take it seriously, then have CNN and MSNBC run a story on it. I could get into the dynamics of how that happens, but youtube is probably going to start blocking replies soon.

I just priced a 4 piece Kitchen set with Hot water heater and then added Trumps Tariff tax , one thousand dollars more in 2025
It's called shopping around for a reason.
Actually, this won't take place until sometime in 2026. But, I get the increase in price due to the tariffs
Lumber is about to go way up again
That is indeed a true statement.
I'm Canadian and go get 60% of your oil, wood, steel and aluminum somewhere else because we have the most natural resources on earth! We won't lose jobs Americans will! Just to add most Americans can't even point Canada on a world map lol
Yes, but they are the biggest BUYERS of our goods. We have no other buyers for our goods if we stop selling to them. This hurts us and them all around. (I’m Canadian)
@ yes we do! Natural resources are essential to every country and everyone
Time for canada to open new markets, enough of the trump bs
Seriously did everyone who voted this dumbass in office forget what the Boston Tea Party was about? Smh
I'm so glad I helped him become your president. You don't hate me do you?
This makes no sense. Canada patrols who go INTO Canada, not into the U.S. from Canada. Tighten your own damn border don't blame Canada.
No, it's a two-way street. There's an expectation that both countries prevent illegals. And it's a whole-nother thing altogether when Canada and [especially] Mexico actually encourage the invasion.
@@brianbruno4749 When you patrol you look outside the border not inside. How do you know they are going to cross the border until they crossed?
I know it sounds ridiculous, but the right wing has been talking about "liberating Canada" from its "tyrannical dictator" for years now. Nothing surprises me with Trump anymore.
This is what you get when you employ a reality show character, to run your country.
Enjoy them apples. X4 years.
Yeah we gonna enjoy(and you too btw accept it or not) while you live in your delusional world where everyone who doesn't agree with you is a bad person and that the lies you've been fed by the media doesn't need to be fact checked
tarrif on china?.... well them red hats are gonna go up in price
And those Trump Bibles also
jokes on you those are made in taiwan
Charging corporations to import goods into the country = tax on consumers, but cutting taxes on corporations that do business here = giveaway to the rich?
Perhaps its the kick in the butt for us Canadians to start trading more with Europe we'll see.
Voting for Trump was monumentally stupid.
The movie "Don't Look Up" was wasted on Trump Trolls.
I thought his favorite word is bankruptcies
The Canadian economy has been taking a Trudeau shit-kicking for ten years now. Canadians are used to constant, mismanaged economic pain in their everyday lives. It's called a 36% exchange rate. The citizens of the US might not be so resilient. Welcome to the club neighbor!
That is a good point... The US did provide arms to the cartels. The US sells to both sides of the drug war. It almost seems like gun manufacturers don't want the war on drugs to end for some strange reason.
I'm already missing Bidenomics because this orange buffoon is giving me flashbacks of empty shelves and uncertainties of 2020. 😮
he is reminding you of covid... the time when restrictions were so heavy most companies got frozen in place... I hope you get the meds right soon
Oh yeah, he’s not “really” going to do it. Stop it with this “i think he isn’t going to do it”
I am a home builder, we have no idea what he is going to do, we have to take him at his word”. We are now in a panic.
Stop apologizing for him.
Even his so called “nogiating tactic” is just hot air. We have to prepare. Stop making him sound like he is just this “negotiator”. Just stop it.
Take him at his word, he said it. The threat on it’s own is enough to tank industries. Watching you two in this video, after the scrambling we are doing to secure building products now, has my blood boiling. STOP softening this up!
25% tariffs = 25% inflation in the US.
But they won't be paying the price. American companies and citizens will 🤦🏿♂️
China would collapse without the US. They must be terrified right now.
"Mexico is the largest source of horticultural imports for the United States, supplying 63% of the country's vegetable imports and 47% of its fruit and nut imports in 2023. In 2022, 83.6% of the agricultural imports from Mexico to the U.S. were vegetables, fruit, beverages, or distilled spirits." Add to this the incarceration and extradition of a labor force involved in the nations agricultural production and guess what will happen to your food bill, $40 avocados. tariffs a dirty word
53% of fruits + 89% of veggies that we import come from Canada and Mexico. 10% of gas is ethanol aka corn. 25% tariffs on Canada + Mexico = significantly more expensive food and gas. Gas inflation causes lots of secondary inflation.
We get 3/4 of our Tomatoes from Mexico. Imagine whats going to happen to Pizza and Spaghetti Sauce cost.
Tariffs are paid by the importing entity (that's the business in this country) so they will just pass the cost on to consumers.
no, cenk. that is not how it works. i understand that americans have done away with the concept of diplomacy, but the rest of the world still does it. that is how the global south is rising up to the american lead empire.
you dont threaten your partners. especially when we have been working great, together, even during the previous trump years. when you threaten your partner, as a starting position, your partner starts wondering if this relationship is worth it
Not long after the Wall Street crash, America went mad and introduced tariffs on all imports to protect American jobs, the Smoot-Hawley tariff act.
Within six months, we will see how if the price experts realise everything around them has gone up from 25%. Will they whine or keep twisting themselves into pretzels to defend how their own lives have become expensive.
FYI, this is to compensate for more tax cuts for the rich that the 90% of people will pay for.
they are morons they will still defend him and blame dems for it but may be within 6 months the clown will have a stroke and that is the end of it
Wait, so the trump tax cuts were only for those making millions a year? Source?
Within 6 months we’ll hear that Trump is renegotiating trade deals and working with Mexico to increase border security.
Trump used the threat of tariffs in his first term to accomplish both of those things🤣
@jay-1800 there's nothing wrong with the border. Oh, you must still be waiting for that caravan of migrants from 9 years ago.
What he did do last time with his tariffs was make more farmers go bankrupt when China retaliated with their own tarrifs. Like Trump says, " the likes which nobody
has ever seen before"
you seriously do believe that nothing is made in america anymore. sit back watch and shut up for once in your life

good luck with that lol
I don't think he understands that the American importers pay the tariffs, not, not the Chinese, Mexican and Canadian governments....
Wrong! Importers will try to find cheaper products elsewhere thereby forcing exporters to cut prices or lose the business. According to your logic the Canadian government is wrong to be worried about these tariffs because they are not paying it😂

Even if they make manufacturers move to the US who will work them ? No cheap labor workers because they all go deported
I'll work them!
Are there not legally binding existing Free Trade agreements between the USA, Canada and Mexico which prevent the imposition of Tariffs? Why is nobody talking about these.?
Yes. There is a Trump agreement between those 3 Countries. Yes, watch Lawrence 10:00 pm MSNBC who talks about these things. Mondays 9:00 p.m. Rachael Maddow does too.
It's simple, Trump doesn't read nor follow laws or agreements. He believes he is the law and that's why America is being held hostage by this clown.
Maybe America can just isolate itself like North Korea. Actually, China is the only country that could get away with completely isolating itself.
You can't manufacture raw goods. That's most of what Canada provides
I honestly Americas, why the hell do you do this to yourself and in turn the rest of the world.
Consumers better get prepared to pay 25% more for their purchases
