Jimin’s “Set Me Free Pt.2’, it’s everything & more then I could hope for, Jimin’s amazing artistry, his so beyond spectacular,, so mesmerizing, phenomenal performance! The song, Jimin’s vocals, his dancing, the amazing choreography, also the amazing backup dancers, the lyrics he wrote, the music he composed as well as being involved in the production! Jimin was hands on, involved with every facet! No wonder the in-house legendary producer for BigHit Pdogg, who worked with Jimin throughout the whole album, stated that “in 2023 K-pop will be ended by Park Jimin”! Seeing this makes me that much more excited, waiting in anticipation for release of the full album, Jimin’s “FACE” on March 24, along with his other, main song ‘Like Crazy’ MV. Though Jimin’s song ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’, blew me away , meeting all my expectations & then some, I was also not totally surprised, because indeed Jimin is now ‘set free’ from the confines of being part of a group, to now be able to open up full throttle and ‘finally’ be able to release all that he held back for so many yrs! Jimin has been involved in every facet of creating this album! Hands on all the way, perfectionist that he is, including writing lyrics, composing, as well as being heavily involved in production! Jimin’s true, real, inner self will be finally seen in all its raw, authentic, amazing, heartfelt, passionate, emotional, sincere glory! This is aside from Jimin’s full range, hardly ever being shown, aside from high notes, but being finally able to show his full registry, mid range as well as lower registry as well! I’ve always been so frustrated not being able to see as well as hear Jimin’s full capacity of talent. So often not being fully taken advantage of, but that comes with being part of a group, that has every single member having so much talent that it’s been so limiting for Jimin, especially him being so selfless, making a point of having others shine before himself. Honestly i was hoping for Jimin to do an artistic contemporary lyrical dance that shows his amaizing daning skills, because he is so exprensive! i also wanted him to rapp and do a dark song like Tony Montana and Lie, but i didn’t know what he was gonna give us.

Jimin is finally FREE to express his true self. I got the impression and feeling that 10 years of being with 6 other men suppressed his artistic abilities and side. And this song is his bull horn and anthem.

Since its art you can interprate it in different ways.
For me he adresses in first place his haxers. Out of all the BTS members Jimin gets the most hate from outside AND even inside the fandom. From being the most active on social media he almost vanished over the years. He gets hate for literally just breathing. Its so heartbreaking what I saw and see on sm on a daily bases. But now he isnt silent any longer, doesnt take it in any more. Fuxx off!... and I am so here for it. The switch between his normal voice and the autotune voice seems kind like talking the shadow, his hardware image to his software version, the side of Jimin he truly is on the "outside". He is such a warmth and caring person. Almost soft and I think thats why people think he is an easy target. But he is so strong inside.

When I came out, 28 years ago, this is exactly what it felt like. "I'm not going to hide anymore even if it hurts" was actually what I thought. And it did hurt quite a bit (the 90s were rough y'all), but I've never regretted being myself.
Whatever part of you you've been hiding, setting yourself free can feel like this. It just *really* resonates. The dancers are also him, I think - they're the ones holding him back but also the ones lifting him up.

It is the opening salvo, the first shot in the battle to destroy all of our preconceived notions of who we thought he was and what the industry wanted him to be. We always refer to them as “the boys” but they are for sure 💯 MEN with the lived experience that comes with that and having grown-ass dreams, desires, and hopes. It does look like a shell but it also symbolizes or demonstrates the Golden Ratio or otherwise known as the Divine Proportion. This formula was theorized to be the basis or building block upon which nature was created, and what many artists, architects, and designers used to achieve aesthetically proportional creations in the past. The dancers represent the people who are trying to control him - they even push him back into the box before his shirtless scene. Their hands gripping at him... zombie-like, trying to control him.

Don't forget that Jimin is a bona fide genius. He used to fill in for his math teacher in high school and was first in every class he took. The following things are in this video, and they're all significant.
1) The spiral made by the dancers: the golden spiral (Fibonacci's sequence):Put simply, a golden spiral gets wider (or further from its origin) with every quarter turn it makes. He's all about circles, as shown in the cover art for Face and the words of the poem on his torso (more on that later).
2) "You have to go insane to stay sane": one of Jimin's lines from "On". This video was also choreographed by Sienna Pulau, who choreographed "On" and the 31 dancers are from the Lab.
3) There are 31 dancers. If you flip that number, you get 13 - Jimin's favorite number and his date of birth.
4) The words on his chest are a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke (translation available through the link)
5) The longer the video goes, the fewer pieces of jewelry and clothing he has - the words are revealed when the shirt comes off because these are feelings he's been covering up until now.
6) When the dancers lift him, it's a call back to the choreography for "Lie". He's finally broken free from the lies that were imprisoning him.

Music and art is always subjective and up for interpretation, there is no right or wrong but I thought this showcased Jimin's growth! Personally, I interpreted Set Me Free part 2 was a follow up to Jimin's song Lie as you also mentioned Landon.
Lie: lyrics "Caught in a lie...Save me...I can’t be free from this pain"
SMF pt 2: "Finally free... look at me now... I won't hide anymore even if it hurts"
I thought the reference to Butterfly is also commenting on himself in the beginning of his career but also symbolic of his evolution and maturity as an artist and human ("Raise your hands for the past me")
